We asked Dr. Webb to discuss an article she wrote about 3 types of parenting with number 3 being the narcissistic parent. This show is one of those extremely personal deep dives into the world of being raised by narcissistic parent(s).
Dr. Jonice Webb has been interviewed on NPR and over thirty radio shows across the United States and Canada about the topic of her book, Emotional Neglect, and has been quoted as a psychologist expert in the Chicago Tribune. She writes the popular Childhood Emotional Neglect Blog on PsychCentral.com.
Dr. Webb has been a licensed psychologist since 1991, and has worked in a variety of different settings over the course of her career, including a psychiatric emergency service and substance abuse programs. She has been the Director of several large outpatient clinics. For the past eight years, she has been enjoying her private practice in Lexington, Massachusetts, specializing in the treatment of couples and families.
Over two decades of practicing psychology, Dr. Webb gradually started to see a factor from childhood which weighs upon people as adults. This factor is extremely subtle. In fact, it’s so difficult to see that it goes virtually unnoticed while it quietly saps a person’s joy in life, causing him or her to struggle with self-discipline, or to feel disconnected and unfulfilled. Dr. Webb gave a name to this invisible factor from childhood. She calls it Childhood Emotional Neglect (CEN).™

Jacksonville Shooting: Gunman's Motive Probed; Gamers Call For More Security At Events
Authorities continued to probe Monday why a player at a video-game tournament in Jacksonville, Florida, gunned down two people and wounded 11 others Sunday, an incident that has prompted calls for more security at gaming events.
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said the lone shooter, who is believed to be David Katz, 24, of Baltimore, was among the dead and had killed himself. No motive has been revealed yet. Some media reports said Katz was upset about losing an intense game.
FBI agents, some in bulletproof vests with long guns, searched a family home of the man authorities believe is behind the attack in Baltimore, according to FBI spokesman Dave Fitz. The agents could be seen entering an upscale townhome complex near the city's Inner Harbor.
The violence broke out during a Madden NFL 19 video game tournament that was held in a gaming bar that shared space with the Chicago Pizza and Sports Grille in an entertainment complex along the St. Johns River in Jacksonville.
The incident stunned gamers and sparked questions about security at gaming events. They are typically livestreamed from local bars or other gathering spots; the largest are held in sports arenas. Another tournament, the Evolution Championship Series in Las Vegas, drew about 15,000 people in March.

Join Eamon and Nina for a frank discussion about what the heck you do after rehab. It is no longer okay to think that one stay at a substance use disorder treatment center is going to "cure" you from addiction. Many people need multiple stays but we can help make those experiences take less time and fewer relapses if we focus on your life AFTER treatment.
Eamon O’Hara comes from a substance abuse treatment background. He was originally introduced to this industry through personal experience where he attended a facility early in his 20’s and began his journey of continued sobriety. When achieving one year of sobriety he began work at a drug and alcohol rehab facility in the facility maintenance department and climbed through the ranks until becoming the company’s director of operations in 2014. Eamon has helped thousands of people get clean and sober and his involvement in the industry brings unprecedented insight to Alignment Addiction Recovery Group.
Christina (Nina) Warthen is originally from the East coast of the U.S. Nina is from an upper class family with no addiction in sight. At twenty years old she began a successful fifteen-year career in modeling. While modeling she was very often struck by how many people in that industry were functioning addicts and alcoholics. Eventually she had become one of those functioning addicts and reached out for help right before it was too late. Traveling and living all through Europe, and South Africa while based in NYC, her sobriety began after going to a treatment facility and attending AA meetings in September 2005. Her passion for twelve step programs and seeing what a sober life had awarded her externally but even more internally, lead her to seeking out a more meaningful career in treatment. She began working as a technician and was quickly promoted to a leadership position where she thrived. She left the company when she felt as though she could be more effective in a different capacity. She was recruited by a sober companion agency where she immediately took on a caseload.

Catherine and Kristin discuss how 1 degree makes the difference meaning micro changes mean quantum results. Water at 99 degrees is hot, at 100 it's boiling. In what ways are we living our live at that extra degree in order to make effective change?
Women who lead explores the dynamics of women in leadership positions from CEOs to Senior Management to Directors to Agents of Social Change. We'll be interviewing women from all walks of life for a very different take on what it means to be a driven, ambitious, compassionate - yet authentic leader.
Catherine is a mom, a friend, a leader, a professional, a mentor, a daughter, a sister, and most importantly, a mistake-maker. She has a deep desire to understand how we, as women, connect to one another and to our world as leaders.
Her mission is to help other women to see the leader in themselves in every aspect of life, and despite our suffering or blemishes, to succeed. She has had multiple experiences and careers throughout her life, and have been so fortunate to build relationships with special people throughout time and across the globe. She is grateful for the opportunities that have and continue to present themselves in her life. And glad to share these experiences- and even more importantly, to share how it has shaped the woman and leader she chooses to be.
Life is no way near perfect. But it is as exciting as it is tricky. She wants to continue to grow and learn in her imperfection as her path continues. Her hope is that we can do this together as we explore leadership, women as leaders, and how we show up.
Kristin is the CEO of MHNR Network and has worked in leadership positions in healthcare and the corporate sector for twenty years.
