The Coronation of King Charles III May 09, 2023

Show notes

On the heels of a jam-packed Coronation weekend across the pond, Emily Nash, Royal Editor for “Hello! Magazine” and host of “Hello! A Right Royal Podcast,” joins me to explain all the pomp and circumstance on display during the thousand-year-old tradition of crowning the new King of England. Prior to taking the throne, His Majesty talked about slimming down the monarchy for the modern age, so what was missing, what was new, and what could we have done without? We chat about Charles, Camilla, Will and Kate, the kids, and of course, Harry. So, put on your tiara, pour a pint, and enjoy our breakdown of this uniquely British spectacle.

Eric McCormack: Man of Mystery May 05, 2023

Show notes

My guest, Eric McCormack, plays waaaay against type as the ruthless, powerful businessman Basil Garvey in the fifth season of the hit horror anthology series, “Slasher: Ripper.” (Episodes every Thursday on AMC+ and Shudder) Eric gleefully forewarns, “This is not your mother’s horror show.” He also takes me back to his days as Will Truman during 11 seasons of “Will and Grace” and describes the time when he met a special hero of his and was thoroughly NOT disappointed.

Gary Cole is Everywhere Apr 21, 2023

Show notes

Gary Cole has appeared in far too many plays, tv shows, films, and animated series to even begin to count them. His latest character is Gordon Novel, an intense investigator, in “Waco: The Aftermath” now streaming on Showtime (new episodes every Friday). Surprisingly, Gary credits his love of standup comedy at an early age as his inspiration to pursue acting, and fondly recalls being in a delivery room while the horrific events of the Waco standoff were unfolding. From playing the Vice President of the United States, to Mike Brady, to a foulmouthed consultant on “Veep,” Gary breaks down how he prepares for these wide-ranging roles and heralds the importance of always “staying in the moment.”

Ally Sheedy’s Office Hours Apr 19, 2023

Show notes

Ally Sheedy has created some of the angstiest, most heartbreaking, and endearing characters in iconic coming-of-age movies such as “The Breakfast Club” and “St. Elmo’s Fire.” We go through her 40-plus-year acting career just in time for her second season in “Single Drunk Female” (new episodes available now on HULU). Ally explains why she resists rewatching her old movies, enjoys teaching as a creative counterpart to performance, and finds the label “Brat Pack,” a belittling misnomer of her and her Reagan-era acting comrades.

Leanne Morgan Finds Her Light Apr 14, 2023

Show notes

Knoxville, Tennessee may be the gateway to the Smoky Mountains, but for comedian Leanne Morgan, it was the starting point for a career in standup comedy. Leanne has taken “her doin’s” as a wife, a mother, and a (very young) grandmother and put them hilariously on stage for her first Netflix special, entitled “Leanne Morgan: I’m Every Woman”. Leanne talks about being YouTube famous in her 50s, saying out loud what we’re all thinking inside, and being too darn tired to be inauthentic.
