Show notes

If you’re confused about how the writers’ and actors’ strikes currently crippling the entertainment industry affect you, you are not alone. Variety’s Chief Correspondent Elizabeth Wagmeister is here to provide an accessible and expert break down of what the current Hollywood work stoppage – the first double-union strike in over 60 years – means for audiences, and the movies and TV we can’t live without. Kevin Abrams and Ivan Bates Caught a Monster Jul 14, 2023

Show notes

The documentary “I’ve Got a Monster” is now available in select theaters and for rent/purchase on iTunes, Amazon Instant Video, and Vudu. The documentary, directed by Kevin Abrams, focuses on lawyer Ivan Bates’ tireless role as the defense attorney for the many victims of Baltimore City police officer, Wayne Jenkins’ corruption. Abrams and Bates join me to discuss the film, which shows in painful detail how Jenkins and members of the Baltimore City Police Department’s Gun Trace Task Force robbed and imprisoned innocent people for their own financial gain. The documentary meticulously details how in 2017, Jenkins and six other BCPD officers were indicted on racketeering charges, and in doing so, gives voice to those who fell victim to their despicable scheme.

Kevin and Frankie Jonas Stake their Claim Jun 30, 2023

Show notes

We’re all used to sibling rivalries, but my guests, Kevin and Frankie Jonas, are an example of sibling camaraderie. These two-out-of-four Jonas brothers are the hosts of “Claim to Fame,” the hit reality competition show in which contestants vie for $100,000 by guessing the identities of each other’s celebrity relatives while trying to keep their own a secret. The second season airs new episodes every Monday at 8 pm on ABC. These two busy showbiz pros talk about how working with each other feels less like a job and more like hanging out, what it was like growing up with the behemoth that was (and still is) the Jonas Brothers, and who their mom’s favorite child is.

Evan Handler Knows His Craft Jun 23, 2023

Show notes

When you’re neither an optimist nor a pessimist, what does that make you? Evan Handler, that’s who. Maybe best known as Harry Goldenblatt in the “Sex and the City” franchise, Evan joins me to talk about his role as Charlotte’s hubby and Rose and Lily’s dad ahead of season two of “And Just Like That,” streaming on MAX starting June 22nd. Evan’s roots in acting are deep, as well as those in patient advocacy, having survived leukemia as a young man. Evan talks about being the only bachelor among Carrie and her squad during the first incarnation of SATC, breaking down the essences of his characters, and how writing two books about his cancer battle have helped him, and others, heal. The only way “Group Text” happens is with YOUR support and support from mm amazing sponsors!

Judy Gold Can Talk Jun 16, 2023

Show notes

No one is going to tell my guest, Emmy-winning comedian Judy Gold, what she can and cannot say. Her bestselling book, “Yes, I Can Say That: When They Come for the Comedians, We Are All in Trouble,” is required reading for anyone who’s a fan of or is considering a career in standup. Judy is not only a gifted writer and an unfiltered performer, but she also holds encyclopedic knowledge about the craft of making people laugh. Listen as we talk about the importance of intent in joke-telling, the balance between acknowledging one’s own experiences and those of an audience, and the aggravation and joy that comes with being die-hard sports moms.

Tony Harris is Telling the Truth Jun 09, 2023

Show notes

As “The Proof is Out There” begins its fourth season, on June 9th on the History Channel (new episodes every Friday night), host Tony Harris has a lot of natural skepticism. Not in the fact that his show is a hit, but whether the creatures, phenomena, and UFOs viewers submit on video for expert review are real or phony. To say Tony has a curious mind would be an understatement – in fact, he calls his curiosity his superpower. So, join us as we discuss not only the veracity of Sasquatch and little green men but also the future of journalism and accountability in the age of Artificial Intelligence.

Exposing the Duggar Family Secrets Jun 02, 2023

Show notes

In the eye-opening Prime Video documentary series, "Shiny Happy People: Duggar Family Secrets," Melissa Rivers engages in a thought-provoking conversation with Director Olivia Crist and Executive Producer Blye Faust. Unveiling the dark underbelly of the Institute for Basic Life Principles (ILBP), the series goes beyond the seemingly fruitful Duggar family (of TLC's "19 Kids and Counting") to expose a web of nefarious schemes. Through firsthand accounts from family members who have escaped the organization, viewers gain a rare glimpse into the cult's disturbing practices, including the suppression of women, enduring years of sexual abuse, and the alarming grooming of future generations of young men with a mission to blur the line between church and state.
