Is fly tipping a hell of a waste? Feb 15, 2020
    Show notes

Fly tipping mountains are getting bigger, official figures show, as the cost of clearing them up has risen by nearly a quarter. The number of waste piles discovered which are bigger than the capacity of a lorry, classed as "multi load incidents", rose by 43 per cent over the past year, data published by the Department for Environment, Farming and Rural Affairs showed.
It comes as local councils are starting to withdraw recycling services as some types of plastic are becoming too expensive to process, potentially leading to more excess household waste being illegally dumped. What do we do about it?

The UK has left the EU- what next? Jan 31, 2020
    Show notes

As the clock struck 11pm GMT, the nation officially enacted the biggest constitutional change in living memory and, in doing so, became the first member state ever to leave the EU.
The momentous shift follows more than three years of political wrangling that has seen off two prime ministers and brought about radical change within the two main political parties.
The UK now enters a transition period that is due to run until the end of the year and during which the government is charged with the task of redrawing the country’s relationship with its closest neighbours.

The fishing, meat, dairy, and egg industries aren’t just relentlessly cruel to animals – they’re also a nightmare for the environment. But is this right, how do the facts stack up?

Should the UK keep the Royal Family? Jan 11, 2020
    Show notes

Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, had left the United Kingdom for Canada less than two days after she and Prince Harry made the shocking announcement that they would “step back” from their roles as senior members of the royal family. Labour leadership candidate Clive Lewis has said there should be a referendum on the future of the Royal Family. Speaking at his campaign launch in London, he said: "A lot of people would like to see the monarchy scaled down." Are Meghan and Harry right? Will we miss them? Should we even have a Royal Family?

The UK General Election - what to do next Dec 15, 2019
    Show notes

What to do, it seems that the Conservatives have a mandate to govern, what should and must they do?
The U.K. general election of December 12 delivered a decisive victory for Boris Johnson and the Conservative Party. He steered the party to regain its majority in the House of Commons that was lost in 2017.
The Conservatives recorded a net gain of 47 seats, winning 43.6% of the vote, the best share for any party since 1979, whereas Labour suffered a net loss of 59 seats. The so called “Red Wall”, of constituencies in Northern England crumbled and seats across the Midlands also fell to the Conservatives.
This now means that with a majority of 80 Boris Johnson can steer his withdrawal treaty through parliament and the U.K. will leave the EU on January 31, 2020. And then onto implementing other policies.
There are reports that Boris Johnson is plotting a dramatic overhaul of Whitehall after his landslide election victory, in a drive to demonstrate that the Government “works for the people” - what of the people who involved: who will be in the new cabinet?
