The Marathon Investigation Podcast is an extension of the Marathon Investigation website. Not everyone agrees with the methods of M.I.. Among the critics is co-host, Scott Kummer. This difference in opinion will lead to some entertaining interactions and valuable insights. The podcast features many of the top names in endurance sports.

Davy Crockett - The Story of Kelly Agnew Feb 22, 2019

On this episode we talk with Ultra Runner and Ultra Historian Davy Crockett. Davy has completed exactly 100 hundred mile races.

Davy came on to tell his story of his experience with Kelly Agnew. Kelly was famously disqualified after skipping laps in a 24 hour race by hiding out in porta-poties.

Kelly found himself in the news again after being charged with multiple counts of theft.

Davy was friends with Kelly, and was one of the first to suspect and witness Kelly's behaviors. He tried to do everything he could to stop this behavior before reaching out to Marathon Investigation.

Davy tells the story from beginning to end with the hope that Race Directors will learn from the events and circumstances that allowed Kelly to continue cheating at races for years.

We talked with Sabrina Little.

Sabrina is a 4 time USATF 100 Mile National Champion. She is also an Ethicist.

After Sabrina landed on the Podium in The 2013 24 Hour World Championships, she was subject to out of competition drug testing. She talks about that process and the importance of being held accountable.

We take a close look at ethics in running and beyond and how the little instances of deception lead to larger lies and greater deception.

Sabrina speaks about how, as a competitor, she believes there should be consequences to those that cheat. She also is uncomfortable with the 'shaming' aspect that results from publicly outing someone.

Kit wrote the first major article regarding Marathon Investigation. When I was looking for runners that cheated to get into The 2015 Boston Marathon, Kit reached out and I shared my findings with him and he became very much a part of the process. He talks about one that we initially got wrong and his discussion with the runner.

Kit wrote other articles regarding cheating, and we discuss the process they followed, the ethics of calling out cheats, and we reference a few specific article that Kit worked on such as Rob Young (Rode in his RV when he should have been running his transcon).

The Two Hour Argument Dec 07, 2018

In August of 2017, Derek appeared on Scott's podcast after Scott encouraged his followers to not support Marathon Investigation.

They argued on social media and Scott dared Derek to come on The Ten Junk Miles Podcast. Derek called his bluff and they argued for two hours.

This debate is a great look into the beginning of Derek and Scott's relationship and likely a peak of what to expect in future episodes of The Marathon Investigation podcast.

Introduction - Derek and Scott Dec 07, 2018

Derek is the person behind MarathonInvestigation.com. It started as whim as a personal blog, but after a Viral article and a Runner's World profile, it grew into something more.

Scott was one of Marathon Investigation's earliest critics. While Scott dislikes cheating, he dislikes the idea of shaming even more.

Derek approached Scott with the idea of co-hosting, and surprisingly Scott agreed. Scott will often act as the devil's advocate. Derek and Scott will disagree often, but the arguments are sure to be entertaining and insightful.
