Show notes

It’s landmark Episode 375, and it’s another double-header week! First up are Don Handfield and Joshua Malkin, comics creators of Unikorn, a family friendly graphic novel you can now support on Kickstarter.Com! This is Don’s third comic, with The Rift and The Mall already successful books! Joshua is also a high-power TV/film scripter, and both wanted to create a comic their daughters could enjoy and benefit from reading! We talk about how they brought this tale to life as well as what we might expect from them in the months ahead.

Then everything wraps up with the return of Caleb Thusat, one of the main driving forces behind Alter Life, Zed and now Nook. Here’s the series’ quick description: “A family escapes WWII Germany only to discover their new home on the border of France is haunted by a dark past and a cat named Nook.” This latest Kickstarter has already met its goal, so he’s bringing out great stretch goals! It’s an excellent one-shot worthy of your support, so I recommend you go to Kickstarter at this link after you listen to our discussion! Don’t miss it!

DISCUSSION

Batman: The Caped Crusader Volume 1
Gotham City has endured much through its dark, twisted history, and even the cosmic changes wrought by the Crisis on Infinite Earths couldn't give the town a fresh start--the grime is in its DNA. The Crisis did, though, allow for the reintroduction of familiar foes, albeit with a fresh take on the Caped Crusader featuring a back-to-basics approach to crime-fighting.

Criminals don't always wear a colorful costumes: some just stalk the shadows with sinister plots and evil intentions. A new threat, a fearsome assassin known as the KGBeast, is prowling the streets of Gotham City and he's out to dismantle America's Strategic Defense Initiative. After saving the United States government, Batman must then solve the mystery of ten murdered women before the killer claims even more victims!

An all-star cast of talent, led by writer Jim Starlin (Batman: The Cult, Mystery In Space) and the dynamic art duo of Jim Aparo (The Brave and The Bold, Batman & The Outsiders) and Mike DeCarlo (The Legion Of Super-Heroes), present Batman: The Caped Crusader Vol. 1, collecting Batman #417-425 and #430-431 and Batman Annual #12!

Wayne’s Comics Podcast #374: Gilbert Deltrez, Lyndon White Mar 24, 2019

Show notes

Here comes another double-header episode this week! First up is the return of Gilbert Deltrez, creator of several Indie comics I’ve really enjoyed, including Under the Flesh and Lair. He’s got a new one-shot called Pistolera described as “a blood-soaked tale of scorn and vengeance.” We talk about how he’s brought this tale to be as well as what we might expect from him in the months ahead. To support this project, go to Kickstarter at this link today!

Then everything wraps up with my great chat with Lyndon White, an accomplished comics artist who has been publishing a series of what are called “concertina” books. He’s got a Kickstarter project going on right now for the latest one, and it’s about H.G. Wells’ The War of the Worlds. We discuss the series of books this one belongs with as well as how he put this fascinating concept together and what we might see from him in the future! To support his project, go to Kickstarter at this link today! Don’t miss it!
