Solutions on the Edge of Change with Eleanor LeCain Apr 11, 2024
    Show notes

Eleanor LeCain shows the way to a new America and a new world. An inspirational speaker, author, and advisor to policymakers, she communicates a compelling vision of a better future and practical pathways to create it. Her first book, Breakthrough Solutions: How to Improve Your Life and Change the World by Building on What Works, has a foreword by the Dalai Lama. This compelling book profiles nine game-changing social innovations that dramatically improve peoples’ lives and strengthen families and communities.

Eleanor advises candidates and policymakers on issues and strategy. Eleanor helped elect Elizabeth Warren to the US Senate, and many other candidates win races for school committee, city council, state legislature, and statewide offices. Eleanor served in Massachusetts state government as Assistant Secretary of State. She was Executive Director of Blueprint 2000, leading strategic planning for the state government.

Earlier this month, she is led the inaugural 2023 Solutions Summit on Capitol Hill. Eleanor also hosts a weekly radio show and podcast, All Together Now, on PRN Radio. She graduated from Yale College and Boalt Law School. She lives in Washington, DC and Massachusetts with her husband, daughter and kitty.

Sandra welcomes Eleanor and shares a quote by Yale historian and Holocaust expert Timothy Snyder. Eleanor responds with her outlook that systems are collapsing, and through her work she is focusing on the solutions that are emerging to the enormous challenges we are facing in America and around the world.

    Focus at The Solutions Summit:

    1. Climate + Environment

    2. Democracy under siege

    3. Economic Inequality

    4. Healthcare

Four crises with a full focus on emerging solutions that ARE being implemented.

Eleanor touches on why the Media is not covering the news about solutions to our challenges. She shares a bit about her background that led to her choice to create the much needed Solutions Summit 2023. We then discuss what her largest takeaways were, and what will follow from this inaugural Summit. Eleanor shares her thoughts on the intergenerational reinvigoration of democracy, and implementation of climate peril solutions.

Quote "I think many negative stories of feedback experiences at the heart of it is that people are leaving the conversation in some way, feeling that their very identity, Being, strengths, skills, or knowledge, etc. has been attacked. S4. Ep. 10 - The Business Casual Yogi's Secrets To Leading With Less Stress Mar 25, 2024
    Show notes

Join me, Amy Lynn Durham, with Vish Chatterji, an accomplished executive-turned-coach with a spiritual twist, and author of The Business Casual Yogi. In this episode, we discuss how to find meaning and purpose behind where you are in your career. Learn ways you can release suffering within yourself and exercise wisdom and compassion towards yourself and others while navigating corporate life. Today on Create Magic At Work®:

    • Why you will experience karmic patterns in the workplace and what to do about them.
    • Ways to exercise self-compassion and forgiveness as a leader
    • How the planetary energies can lead to a deeper understanding of self
    • Why leaders benefit from going beyond EQ (emotional intelligence)

In parallel to his twenty-year leadership career spanning the automotive, technology, and startup industries, Vish has studied and practiced yoga, meditation, and Ayurveda (mind-body medicine). He coaches and advises corporate leaders, blending Western management thinking with Eastern wisdom traditions, and speaks on a variety of topics at the intersection of business and personal development. Quote "In the yoga system, you practice these things in order to connect your inner wisdom. You also practice self-compassion. Can you be compassionate to yourself? And usually, when we're not compassionate to others, it's because of something in our own lives that we haven't learned to forgive ourselves for. If you can't forgive yourself for something, chances are you're not going to forgive somebody else for it." - Vish Chatterji Connect with Vish:

Quote "Every day I get up and choose to be myself in any space I enter, whether I'm dressed up in fully femme gender conforming makeup, dress heels or I'm dressed down in yoga pants and a t-shirt with no makeup. I show up as myself and something that I've had to interrogate over the last couple of years, especially in the workplace, is yes, I show up at my full self all the time, but that's going to cost me opportunities. That's going to cost me not to be invited to certain boardrooms or meetings or companies to speak at because they don't like what I'm serving. Guess what? If you don't like what I'm serving, there's plenty of tea out there. If you don't like the tea that I'm spilling, they don't take a sip of it." - Mark Travis Rivera
