The Finisher

Last week, I experienced my own version of adventure on the high seas when the high seas came to me thanks to Hurricane Irma. Thankfully, as you can see, my house and I are still in one relatively dry piece and we were able to come back home somewhat quickly. But as Irma moves along, we still have Jose, Katia, and more on the horizon, not to mention more in future years, so how should Magic Mics treat weather delays in the future?

One of the cards previewed this week was Deadeye Quartermaster, a 2/2 Human Pirate that acts as a tutor for vehicles or equipment. But it's not the ability that set Twitter ablaze, no, it's the art, which as you can see on the screen here… looks a lot like it might just have been Ms. Erin's Invitational card. Now, we have heard tale that the model was in fact the artist Josh Haas' wife, but it does beg the question: if you won the Invitational and were to be Shanghai'd into a set as a pirate, what might your swashbuckler say?

Avast, me hearties, because pirates are making their long anticipated return to Magic: The Gathering with Ixalan. And since privateer puns and high seas hilarity always batten down my hatches, lilly my livers and shiver my timbers with your best pirate-y jokes you can muster from the depths of Davy jones' Locker.

Steven Jay Williams, better known to his fans as Boogie 2988 on the Youtubes, took a break from his beloved character Francis for his long-planned gastric bypass surgery yesterday, which we have reports now saying that his operation was a success and he's recovering in the hospital. So congratulations on that Boogie; we here at Magic Mics all wish you a speedy recovery. But with Francis unable to deliver his patented game-related rants for the time being, there's a window here for some diatribes. So in honor of our fellow content creator, give us your best Boogie-rific tirade.

The results of the Magic Hall of Fame will be revealed soon, and Magic competitors, commentators, comedians and comandantes will be the deciding voices on who gets in and who does not. And speaking of deciding voices, the three of us are well known for our voices… but also for the voices of others. So who would Helene Bergeot, Mark Rosewater, and Rich Hagon argue in favor of for the class of 2017?
