New Team CFB - Captain Luis Scott-Vargas, fresh off of his year-long break from the Pro scene, and will consist of members from each of the two CFB teams from last season: Martin Juza and Josh Utter-Leyton, previously of Team CFB Ice, plus Mike Sigrist, Ben Stark, and Paulo Vitor Dama da Rosa, previously of Team CFB Fire. That leaves the other Team CFB Fire and Ice players from last season, like Eric Froelich, as free agents—though LSV mentioned that there's a chance ChannelFireball will add a second team. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QvQPXyjDJFE

Eternal Weekend is this coming weekend in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where folks from around the globe will convene to mostly play robots. Additionally, the new trailers for Pacific Rim and Star Wars dropped recently, plus there was the recent USA vs. Japan mega-robot battle, and the snow-bot featured on Some Disassembly Required, and with all that together this week is quite robot-themed. So with all of the machine machinations we've discussed, and all of the bugs currently in our systems, what are you hoping to upgrade in your own personal software?

Blast from the Past

1993 article about MTG: https://i.imgur.com/yhCs9Di.png

Some delightfully archaic stuff: "WotC shows greater savvy of the on-line information services than any other game company... It has its own node (wizards.com) on the Internet computer network, which features a fast-growing newsgroup devoted to the MAGIC game that currently draws over 100 messages a day."
"The MAGIC game requires a medium-to-large league of players to bring out its magic. Fortunately, its low entry price, simplicity, and quick play make this easier to achieve. It makes an ideal choice for conventions or lunch hours. Its drawbacks seem minor beside its groundbreaking achievement."

Last week, it was announced that on December 15th after 20 years AOL will be discontinuing America Online Instant Messenger service, better known as AIM. This is a huge blow to many who used the long-running instant messenger service that was core to many people's first social experiences on the internet. So as we set our away messages and tag our availability statuses for the last time, how will you remember AIM?

Super Mario Odyssey is coming out soon for Nintendo Switch, and people are already excited for the additions and technology added to the new 3D platformer. But some folks are more focused on different additions to Mario… specifically Mario's nipples. Add to this the stupid sexy Jace controversy from Ixalan, and it seems we nerds are a bit perturbed by our icons removing their garb. So which gaming icon are you looking forward to taking off their tee next?

What if I told you that there is a Reddit thread on MagicTCG right now with over 200 comments of confused commenters asking why Ixalan has so many female pirate captains? Well, that seems like an innocent and not at all controversial topic to bring up with y'all, so why, pray tell, do you think there are so many fragile little lady pirate leaders and so few big strong men at the helm in Ixalan?

The Finisher

This week, our fellow content producers Josh Lee Kwai and Jimmy Wong released their latest Game Knights, this time straying away from their usual Commander videos to venture into a game of Two-Headed Giant against our other fellow content producers at Magic: The Amateuring, Maria Bartholdi and Meghan Wolff. And the internet reacted in a totally reasonable manner to the ever-so-slight change in format… by which I mean the internet happened to the tune of over 100 comments on Reddit. So in honor of that ridiculousness, how do you think we should piss off our Redditors this week?
