As we approach the end of the season, the amount of events is still packing the calendar. The Festival of Lights brought on some fun spawns and visuals, and Mega Garchomp Raid Day brought Trainers outside for another fun day of IRL gameplay. We have noticed a ton of positive Community Ambassador posts showing off incredible turnouts and great vibes, but that stop the Twitter mob from being completely offended. When Ken posts about how he thinks the Remote Raid Pass limit was a great thing, the mob went on the attack, or should we say, felt attacked. We dig into how many on Twitter are still feeling bent about the RRP changes and the virtue signalers are back out in force.

There is plenty of Community Day news this week with Niantic sharing the next season’s save the dates, as well as announcing Mareep as our Community Day Classic featured Pokémon. As we approach the Winter months here in the North East, it may take a strong showing from Niantic to keep Trainers going outside in the cold to play IRL events.

Fashion Week is the next event on the calendar and it brings Shiny Gothita, new costume Pokémon, and a ton of other shiny chases to check. Fashionable Dragonite may become a fan favorite, but there are nearly a dozen additional costumed Pokémon to pick from. While Ken enjoys the hunt, we all know how Adam really feels about events like this.

What’s this, what’s this? Two incredible weeks of PGO Gameplay with more on the way! It’s been a great time to play Pokémon GO with the Halloween Events and a Team GO Rocket Takeover keeping Trainers really busy. From new Pokémon to unique shiny chases, there is a bit of something for everyone.

Most of the action this week is actually from the Community and not from the game. We have an emerging platform for PvP with Dracoviz, which is looking very strong and could be the next place that Battlers call home. It will be interesting to see if Zygarden manages to get anything going before Dracoviz really takes off.

Twitter is still making Wayfarer out to be a bad place, with our favorite nay-sayer, JRE Seawolf at the center of it. We talk about how he shares info that supports his narrative, but doesn’t paint a complete picture of what is going on. Trainers need to accept that they will be held accountable for their actions, even if the actions in question were a long time ago. Also, everyone should remember that if your offense is significant, Niantic may jump right to a 30 or 90 day suspension right out of the gate.

November and the Festival of Lights are on the way, but we first put together a Raid Guide and Battle Party for Shadow Lugia, which will be around on the weekends for a few weeks. Whether you decide to bring a full party of Tyranitars, or mix it up completely, there are a bunch of ways you can approach Shadow Lugia!

Adam is back on US soil! We learn about his first ever trip abroad and what it was like to Train at the City Safari in Barcelona! From airport to airport and park to city, there are plenty of stories to share. Huge shout out to Kriket23 for helping Adam guide himself through Spain!

For the rest of us, the week included the TIcket of Treats, Timburr Community Day, and Part 1 of the Halloween event. With the end of October looking to be incredible, this month has taken many by surprise. We hope you like costume Pokémon though, because they are coming in hot and fast this month. If you aren’t into costumes, the Shiny Zorua chase should be enough to keep you busy!

The big news of the week however comes with the release of GO Party, a feature that came out of nowhere and looks like a home run on paper. We will need some time behind the wheel before having a conclusive take, but our hot takes have us split. With rewards that seem lackluster at first but add up quick, we will see if it is enough to keep Trainers engaged with the feature.

We expound on GO Party with an installment of Poke the Bear, where we ask how Twitter feels about GO Party being released (with bugs) while existing features like Showcases and Routes still have their own set of bugs. Can issues with the feature be overlooked, or is the known issue list simply keep growing and growing.

While Adam is out living his best life at the City Safari n Barcelona, the show must go on! This week, Lane from Good Morning Johto fills the second chair! Make sure you follow Lane and his show for a unique spin on Pokémon GO podcast coverage!

With the Adventures Abound in full swing, the pacing of events continues to deliver multiple events per week. The Ticket of Treats brings us the second Timed Research, which reopens the conversation of the Battle Pass model. We discuss what it would take to make the Battle Pass model work, and if a narrative would be required to keep the progression going.

October events are keeping Trainers engaged with a solid rollout of bonuses, new Pokémon, and new Shinies. From diverse encounter pools to solo Legendary Raid battles, there is a bit of everything for Trainers to dig into. The Harvest Festival is getting thumbs up all around, with Timburr Community Day adding some spice to the mix. The fan favorite Halloween event looks exceptionally strong, with more still to come before the end of the month.

We wrap things up with discussing the public details about the GO Stadium turmoil, now that statements have been released from the main parties involved. With JRHonda setting himself up for harsh criticism by jumping on a Twitch interview, there seems to be more fuel being added to the fire daily. More and more people are turning their back on GO Stadium, which opens the door for other players to come in to grab some of their PvP market share. While we don’t like to see any human go through the ringer, sometimes sympathy is hard to come by when the ringer is self-inflicted.

The Pokémon GO Community has been on some roller coasters lately, and this week really sent us for a loop. The PvP Community is in turmoil as a wave of DM screenshots were released that showed leaders of PvP in a negative light. With a former staffer of GO Stadium airing it all out, JRHonda from GO Stadium has resigned. We are confident we will be feeling the waves of this shake up in the coming weeks.

In gameplay news, recap our last week of Training includingGO Battle Weekend and the Detective Pikachu event. The Ticket of Treats pseudo Battle-Pass is underway with with the first of four Timed Research. Timburr Community Day still doesn’t really feel right but we are excited to have Guzzlord to whoop on this week. We close things out with a little Battle Party to get you ready.

After a week like this on Social Media and within our Communities, it is important to remember that we are all here to play a game and have fun. We all have different ways that we connect with the game, and we have varying levels of engagement from casual to hardcore. That being said this week reminds us to hold true to your values and stand up to adversity. PolymersUp took his time and aired things out that address something that has been plaguing the Community for years. A Lycanroc in Mareep clothing. We have been campaigning for years on what we believe it means to Build The Community. What we saw this week was an example of how misguided people can become.

As we move into the second month of Adventures Abound, we have plenty to reflect on including Azurill Hatch Day, the Out To Play Event, and even a smattering of vanilla spawns. With Timburr Community Day being announced, we are all scratching our heads a bit wondering why we don’t have a ghost type instead. Perhaps we will see a spooky Community Day Classic?

New events are on the horizon with a celebration of the Detective Pikachu game on Switch as well as a GO Battle Weekend to grind through. While Detective Pikachu may feel like a filler event, at least the Battlers will stay busy earning some sweet rewards next weekend. In an exciting turn, Niantic has announced the Ticket of Treats, a month long Battle Pass style ticket that gives weekly Timed Research. Could this be a preview of what’s to come with a subscription model?

Finally we revisit the Wayfarer drama on Twitter as more reports of Suspensions are coming in. We follow along with one suspension in particular and work through the timeline while sharing our thoughts. It has been another stellar week of Pokémon GO behaving poorly on Twitter! The flavor of the week is the Wayfarer Ladder Policy that we covered last week. With reports of players getting their Pokémon GO accounts suspended, accompanied by claims of innocent gameplay has us giving things the major side-eye. With PGO influencers jumping into the fray, denouncing Wayfarer and encouraging their audience to pull out of Wayfarer, it has created a beautiful disaster that is very popcorn worthy.

As for actual gameplay, we recap our experiences with Oddich Research Day and Grubbin Community Day. With severe weather hitting NJ, our gameplay turned indoors which was made a million times better by running into a wild Mrs. Mime! We also love how Showcases have made us adapt our gameplay around them.

There are plenty of events on the horizon, and we breakdown Out to Play and Azurill Hatch Day. Naintic also released their October Content Update, which we skim through and tease the month away. The pace of events will keep us busy as many in the US prep for the colder months of the year.

The last two weeks of gameplay have been unbelievable. Incredible bonuses, new Pokémon and new Shinies have kept most Trainers very busy. We recap our experiences with the Paldean events and reflect on how it feels now that they are gone. It is going to take some consistent doses of dopamine from Niantic to keep this momentum from plummeting.

PGO now has Hindi Language support which is a massive win for Trainers in India. With the success of the Wayfarer Challenge there, and now native language support, the game has an excellent foundation to take off. It will be exciting to see how many Trainers emerge from India after these updates.

The Unity game engine that PGO runs on has made a sweeping update to their developer pricing model, which has sent a surge of negativity near the top of the gaming world food chain. With the threats to Indie studios, and the incredible volume of downloads that PGO gets daily, this could be a very damaging update. We discuss whether or not Unity will stick to their decision or if they will bend. Either way, Niantic has some thinking to do.

Wayfarer announced a significant anti-cheat effort to moderate the service. Calling out bad-actors and review rings, it sounds like the Wayfarer team means business. If your not convinced, then just check out the 10 year ban that they added to their policy terms. While there are concerns about everyday Wayfinders throwing in the towel on the tool, we think this is a very positive move at large.

Routes have hit Campfire and we now have a proper way to prepare for Route play. This will be a gamechanger in the space, now we just have to hope that Trainers use it. Finally we wrap things up with a Raid Guide and Battle Party for Burn-Drive Genesect! KILL IT WITH FIRE!

We are knee deep into Paldea and we have been feasting on 4x XP and Dust. This is an absolutely amazing time to be playing Pokémon GO! With new Poémon and Shinies, Raid Bosses and Research, there has been a bit of something for everyone to do. Does it even matter that we skipped Galar?

We also had some event news drop this week with Oddish Research Day and Grubbin Community Day. This Season is proving to blend staple events with new styles and themes. It will be interesting to see how the season plays out and if the tone can be carried out for 3 months.

Wayfarer has been a hot topic lately as more and more Trainers are using the system. With the closing of NBA All World, we all knew change was coming to the K-12 Basketball Court rules. As of this week, Niantic has instructed Wayfinders to cease nominations, reject in voting, and report all existing K-12 POI for removal. It was fun while it lasted!

Just like that we have Hidden Gems coming to a close! We recap our last week of gameplay including our experience with Global GO Fest and how the Season is ending on a high note! Niantic isn’t slowing the pace down at all as we have a brand new Season to discuss, Adventures Abound! An absolutely packed September will keep us very occupied as we adjust to the encounter and bonus shift for the next three months.

Some of the most exciting early news on the Season is that we have the ability to earn another Master Ball! This comes to us through a very lengthy Timed Research which reopens the conversation around difficulty in Pokémon GO. We have mentioned before that investments of time, daily play, and money are the typical factors that make this game easier or harder for its Trainers. This new Research will test how we combine those three factors to complete the significantly long tasks!

The new Season also brings a jump over Gen 8 to Paldea, as we have a fresh beginning featuring the Paldean starters! Niantic has made this feel like a fresh starting point for new Trainers and a way to really spice things up for existing Trainers. We discuss our thoughts on how Galar is taking the back seat to Paldea, and how a bunch of new Pokémon being released is an exciting way to get Trainers in front of their phones.

Adventures Abound also brings us a very large GBL move update with new moves and a ton of availability that is sure to shake up the meta! We will have to see over time who the new winners are and how the cups play out over the next three months!
