Love Sober Podcast 133 Language Revisited Jun 04, 2021
    Show notes

In this episode we revisit some of the language and around sobriety and being alcohol free, recovery, addiction, trauma and grey area drinking. We talked in episode 3 about language and now having trained as coaches, set up a community and written courses, and delved into this subject, we decided to look again at what the language around this subject is doing now. It's so great to reflect on this as we as the sober community co-create the language of our experience.

If you would like to join us on the Addictive Behaviours Taster Session, 2 hour online class on June 28th book here: https://www.the-coaching-academy.com/online-events/addictive-behaviours-coaching/june-2021/

This was a great chat about motherhood, feminism and sobriety and how powerful Danusia’s own journey to sobriety has been on writing this incredible book. So grab a cuppa and let’s chat. Love K & M xx
Her book NOISE: A Manifesto Modernising Motherhood - 30 March 2021
THE BOOK THAT ANSWERS: HOW CAN I BE A MOTHER AND STILL BE ME?
Part manifesto, part memoir, part guide; this book unflinchingly flips conventional thinking surrounding motherhood on its head. On the one hand, this book is about being a mother, but it's also about how, once we become mothers, we're not allowed to be ourselves. NOISE is a powerful dismantling of the barriers and central tenets that hold women back.
This manifesto was built to start a conversation; it's a call-to-arms to get ideas flowing through our communities, and an invitation to think differently about what we're repeatedly told about motherhood. An intimate, bold blend of memoir, thought-leadership and research, Danusia provocatively reframes the NOISE around motherhood and repositions mothers as the social change agents our world desperately needs.
“A debrief on motherhood for today” The Telegraph
"Danusia makes motherhood political - giving tangible steps to help shift our societal views on motherhood and make a change.” Eve Rodsky, author of NYT Bestseller Fair Play
“It is a beautiful thing when a book about motherhood is about people; about remembering that mothers are people in their own right. I think we so often forget that. This is a soothing slap in the face reminder.” Hollie McNish, author of Nobody Told Me & Slug

    Show notes

    Episode 129

This week on the pod Mandy chats to Camille @thinkbeyondthedrink Camille Kinzler is an alcohol-free lifestyle/habits expert with a Master’s in Science and Physician Assistant (PA) Studies. She is passionate about helping the high-achieving over-drinker unwind, have fun, and connect instead of instinctively reaching for her go-to cocktail by learning to trust herself again. She does this through a process she calls the COZY Method in 1:1 and intimate group coaching. She offers an intimate 4 month container for 10 women 2 times a year with an optional retreat component. We had a great chat about our similar journeys, seeing Alcohol-Free living as exploration and gaining rather than losing and the important element of trust. Camille is heading up 7 Days and 14 Ways to Break Your Drinking Habit Challenge of which we will be in conversation with her live in the Facebook group on May 15th at 8pm your time, which is 2pm CST US. If you would like to join the challenge and not only work with Camille but be invited to guest interviews each night click on this link - it's free! https://thinkbeyondthedrink.lpages.co/may-2021-awareness-challenge-love-sober/

Love Sober Podcast 128 Laurie McAllister Apr 30, 2021
    Show notes

Episode 128 This week on the pod we talk to the wonderful Laurie McAllister about sobriety & mental health. Laurie is a life and empowerment coach for sober and sober curious women, yoga teacher and writer of many things. In 2016, she stopped drinking and turned her life around - she now supports other women to do the same through coaching, writing and marketing support for sober businesses. Relocating from London to Norfolk to Cambodia and back to Norfolk, Laurie believes we are all far more capable than we have been led to believe and we are all allowed to change our stories whenever we choose. Behind the scenes she spends more time than she’d like to admit in her pyjamas and likes nothing more than a hot bath and a nice cup of mint tea. Website address: https://girlandtonic.co.uk Insta address: https://instagram.com/laurievmcallister

We loved talking to Laurie about the light and shade of sober living. The importance of talking about our mental health and healing from it. We talk about the difficulty in accessing services and how brilliant and vital it is to lean on the sober community for support whilst talking to your GP and getting the right support on board. It’s a great and important chat. So grab a cuppa. Love K & M xxx
