The Official “Lost” Podcast from ABC Nov 07, 2005
    Show notes

If you like the sound of a “Lost” podcast, but could do without the family-den production values and amateur talent of our show, it looks like ABC is cooking up something just for you. Yes, there will be an official weekly “Lost” podcast from the network, featuring interviews with cast members and insights from the show’s creators. We do hope you’ll still stick around for our episode-by-episode reviews and fan feedback, though! Official ABC press release follows (and thanks to Cinefantastique Magazine for the tip).

ABC IS SET TO LAUNCH THE FIRST OFFICIAL “LOST” PODCAST SERIES ON TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 8

First Podcast Will Be Available on ABC.com on November 8

Future Podcasts will be Available on both ABC.com and Apple’s iTunes, Beginning on November 15

The ABC Television Network will be launching the first official “Lost” podcast series on TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 8. The first podcast will be available on ABC.com. Beginning on TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 15, all future podcasts will be available on both ABC.com and Apple’s iTunes.

Each week throughout the November sweeps, various “Lost” cast members, along with informative conversations between creator/executive producer Damon Lindelof and executive producer Carlton Cuse, will tease the week’s upcoming episode, as well as answer fan questions.

On Tuesday, November 8, the first podcast will feature Josh Holloway (Sawyer) and Daniel Dae Kim (Jin) providing compelling insights into filming some rather rough raft scenes. Lindelof and Cuse will be on hand to discuss the first season, music and the upcoming episode “Abandoned” (airing on Wednesday, November 9).

Lindelof and Cuse commented, “Damon and I began dreaming about podcasts back when we were working on ‘Nash Bridges’ together – even though there was no such thing yet. Now that those dreams finally make sense, we couldn’t be more excited. If such excitement were measured on a scale of 1-7, ours would be a 19.”

The “Lost” podcasts will be available for download on the official “Lost” website at lost.abc.com (beginning on November 8) and on Apple’s iTunes (beginning on November 15). Users will be able to download the podcasts on both sites at no cost. Podcasts will remain available on each site for an unspecified time.

Fans wishing to post questions to the producers of “Lost” can do so on the “Lost” site at lost.abc.com.

A podcast is the distribution of audio files for download. You can then hear the podcast whenever you want from your computer or a portable media player.

On this Wednesday’s episode, entitled “Abandoned,” Sawyer’s wound becomes life-threatening as he, Michael and Jin make their way through the interior of the island with the tail section survivors. Meanwhile, Shannon is once again haunted by visions of Walt, and Charlie becomes jealous of Locke’s interest in Claire. Ian Somerhalder and Malcolm David Kelley guest star as Boone and Walt, respectively.

“Lost,” which airs WEDNESDAYS (9:00-10:00 p.m., ET), on the ABC Television Network, stars Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Mr. Eko, Naveen Andrews as Sayid, Emilie de Ravin as Claire, Matthew Fox as Jack, Jorge Garcia as Hurley, Maggie Grace as Shannon, Josh Holloway as Sawyer, Daniel Dae Kim as Jin, Yunjin Kim as Sun, Evangeline Lilly as Kate, Dominic Monaghan as Charlie, Terry O’Quinn as Locke, Harold Perrineau as Michael, Michelle Rodriguez as Ana Lucia and Cynthia Watros as Libby.

J.J. Abrams and Damon Lindelof co-created “Lost” and also serve as executive producers, along with Bryan Burk, Jack Bender and Carlton Cuse. “Lost,” which is filmed entirely on location in Hawaii, is from Touchstone Television.

    Enhanced Transmission Oct 17, 2005
    Show notes

Prompted by listener suggestions, we’re experimenting with “enhanced podcasts,” or AAC files with chapter markers, graphics, and links for chapter-capable players (like iTunes and iPods). This will make it easier to skip between segments in “The Transmission.” If you want to get enhanced versions of our show rather than the original MP3 flavor, use this feed in your podcatcher or aggregator.

Chances are “The (Enhanced) Transmission” will come out the day after the original show. Try it out and let us know what you think… is it worth the wait?

    Nifty! Oct 15, 2005

Yahoo! has jumped into the podcast directory fray with a pretty sharp setup. You can find “The Transmission” listed right here. Works with iTunes (via .pcast) and the Yahoo! Music Engine. Ratings and comments welcome!

Also, “The Transmission” made its iTunes Podcast Directory front page debut today. Number 12 in the iTunes Top 100 Podcasts list, too!

We even got a link from AOL’s snazzy “Lost on ABC” page, alongside many of our favorite fan sites.

Thanks, everyone, for your support. I’m sure we’ll stop getting giddy about this stuff eventually. In the mean time, we’ll be sure to let some pressure out of our heads now and then!
