Jen Atkin is a hustler. At 19 she flew out to Los Angeles from her home state of Utah with $300 bucks in her pocket and a dream. She worked odd jobs until she got a job as a receptionist at a hair salon. From there she worked her way up, taking every opportunity to work for top stylists in the industry until she began to build her celebrity clientele, and began making quite the name for herself. Today, Jen is the it girl hair stylist and what the New York Times calls “The Most Influential Hairstylist in the World." Her list of clientele includes the entire Kardashian clan, Chrissy Teigen, Katy Perry, Jessica Alba, Jennifer Lopez and anyone else who's hair you envy on runways and red carpets.
She recently launched her own hugely popular hair care line called Ouai, which includes a line of products and supplements that helps women keep their hair healthy and beautiful. In an effort to unite the hair industry and create a community for hairstylists, Jen created ManeAddicts.com. The digital magazine gives readers access to the world’s top hairstylists, featuring the best products on the market, and instructional how to’s.
Together, Jen and Bobbi talk about the risk she took coming out to LA with no prospects, an eaves dropped interview which led to her first job at a salon, her climb from stylist to CEO, and why you are never too important to pack boxes and give back.
