LOCKED ON SUNS 3/18/19: Suns look lifeless without their energizers versus Bulls Mar 19, 2019
    Show notes

On today’s episode of Locked On Suns live from Talking Stick Resort Arena, we recapped the Suns’ surprising 116-101 blowout defeat at the hands of the Chicago Bulls.

Deandre Ayton and Devin Booker combined for 50 points and 20 rebounds, but it wasn’t enough as others around them didn’t really step up to fill scoring voids.

Starting three rookies, and playing their first game without Kelly Oubre Jr. since he’s been in Phoenix, that wavy energy seemed to be the missing spark. From the beginning, the Suns came out flat and really never were able to recover.

We also quickly went over the surprising end of game incident between Igor Kokoskov and Jim Boylen to wrap things up.

With three games now separating Phoenix from the No. 4 spot in the reverse standings, having a share of the top odds at Zion Williamson likely locked in now seems to be the silver lining to take away from this one.

LOCKED ON SUNS 3/15/19: Deandre Ayton redeems himself in close loss to Rockets Mar 16, 2019
    Show notes

We return to our usual recap format to take you through what you need to know from the Suns’ 108-102 loss to the Rockets on Friday night.

With Tyler Johnson inactive, it was the Devin Booker, Kelly Oubre Jr. and Deandre Ayton show, and the Suns stayed close.

Yet Jamal Crawford remained in the rotation despite De’Anthony Melton being healthy and needing another chance to get playing time heading into the summer.

    We break it all down.

LOCKED ON SUNS 3/14/19: Comparing Harden and Booker with Ben DuBose of Locked On Rockets Mar 15, 2019
    Show notes

Ben DuBose of Locked On Rockets joins us to break down the similarities between the team situations and overall skill sets of James Harden and Devin Booker as the Suns look to develop Booker into a lead playmaker and improved team defender entering the first season of his maximum contract extension.

Then, we get Ben’s thoughts on covering James Harden’s extraordinary season and whether he is the NBA MVP this year.

We end with some thoughts about Friday night’s matchup between the teams and what to watch for in Houston.

LOCKED ON SUNS 3/13/19: Suns fall to Jazz as they turn on the jets late Mar 14, 2019
    Show notes

On today’s episode of Locked On Suns, we recapped the Suns’ 114-97 loss to the Utah Jazz live from Talking Stick Resort Arena.

Devin Booker chipped in 27 points, 4 rebounds and 6 assists on 9-for-20 shooting, but Phoenix’s first ever No. 1 overall pick was flummoxed by Rudy Gobert. Deandre Ayton ended his night with career-lows in points and field goal percentage as Richuan Holmes outplayed him.

Also, what should we make of Josh Jackson? Some games he’s on, some games he’s not. Another example popped up for Jackson tonight, and is it possible his role is reduced once T.J. Warren returns?

We break down all the hot topics as the Suns now fall to 16-53 on the season.

LOCKED ON SUNS 3/12/2019: Talking Josh Jackson, Ja Morant and more with J. Kyle Mann of The Dime Drop Mar 12, 2019
    Show notes

We are joined by J. Kyle Mann of The Dime Drop to discuss his thoughts on Josh Jackson, Deandre Ayton and the rest of the Suns.

A bit of a longer episode this time but we know you will all enjoy this one!

We also discuss Ja Morant, who Kyle saw in-person at the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament last weekend and how he might fit in Phoenix.

Finally, some rapid fire discussion on the broader NBA to close the show.

LOCKED ON SUNS 3/11/19: This is a whole new basketball team Mar 11, 2019
    Show notes

Before diving deep on the Suns’ big win over Golden State, we quickly talk about what went wrong in Portland and how Phoenix was able to overcome a weird night to come away with a huge victory on the second night of a back-to-back in Oakland.

It was Devin Booker’s night on Sunday, as the Suns’ star put together the best all-around performance of his career, scoring 37 points and notching 11 assists, including a 15 straight points at one point midway through the final period.

Plus, he’s getting support from up and down the roster, from Kelly Oubre Jr. to Tyler Johnson. We finish by discussing what these wins say about Oubre’s impact, Igor Kokoskov’s coaching and how the Suns can keep it up heading into the easiest portion of their schedule.

LOCKED ON SUNS 3/8/19: Comparing PG and Bridges with Tony East of Locked On Pacers Mar 08, 2019
    Show notes

Continuing with our Suns comparisons series, we bring on Tony East of Locked On Pacers to discuss the early years of Paul George’s career, how he developed as a shooter and playmaker and what the keys were to his development.

Bridges already looks like a solid shooter and team defender, but Tony shares some ways that George was able to develop physically and with the ball in his hands to grow into the MVP candidate we’re seeing this year.

LOCKED ON SUNS 3/7/19: The numbers behind the Suns' win streak Mar 07, 2019
    Show notes

We comb through the numbers for the Suns as a whole as well as the key performers from the Suns’ recent winning ways, including their three-game win streak and dating all the way back to last Monday’s win in Miami.

Phoenix is in the top ten in both offensive and defensive efficiency the past five contests and Devin Booker is a huge reason why.

Plus, co-stars Kelly Oubre Jr. and Deandre Ayton are rounding into form, and Tyler Johnson is proving how much this team needed another legitimate playmaker all along.
