LOCKED ON SUNS 4/3/19: Elie Okobo shows out as Devin Booker leaves loss to Utah Apr 04, 2019
    Show notes

We recap the Suns’ 118-97 loss to the Utah Jazz first by dissecting Devin Booker’s injury and the subsequent news he will be shut down. Was Booker’s heavy minutes load worth another late-season injury for the fourth-year guard?

Then, we break down a few players who stood out keeping the game close while Booker was out, including Elie Okobo and Richaun Holmes. Both guys made a good case for staying on the roster in 2019-20.

LOCKED ON SUNS 4/2/19: An update to our 2019 NBA Draft big boards heading into the Final Four Apr 02, 2019
    Show notes

With the Duke quartet of freshman gone from the NCAA Tournament and the dust mostly cleared from the college basketball season, we reset the 2019 draft.

We discuss big risers such as Brandon Clarke and PJ Washington as well as the fall of Cam Reddish. We debate RJ Barrett vs. Ja Morant and why Barrett doesn’t fit in Phoenix despite potentially being more talented overall.

Finally, we explain why it’s so silly to worry about Zion Williamson fitting with ANY team, let alone the Suns.

LOCKED ON SUNS 4/1/19: Jackson and Booker star as the Suns end their losing streak Apr 02, 2019
    Show notes

On today's episode live from Talking Stick Resort Arena, we recap the Phoenix Suns' 122-113 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Josh Jackson led the way with the best game of his career, finishing with 19 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 steal, and 5 blocks on 7-of-11 shooting.

Devin Booker also chipped in, but this time it was his facilitating that made the difference. The Suns' star dished out 13 assists to go along with 25 points, which was the ninth instance he's done that already this season. How has Booker's all-around growth offensively changed his offensive profile?

Finally, we run through our favorite numbers where everyone shined across the board.

LOCKED ON SUNS 3/29/19: Exposing bad Booker takes, Zion vs. Ja, and Ayton's trajectory with Max from the 7SOL podcast Mar 30, 2019
    Show notes

On today's episode, Max from the 7SOL pod joins to discuss plenty of topics, including analyzing one of the worst Devin Booker takes we've ever heard from a national writer. Outside of the wrong view of Booker nationally, what's stood out most during his scoring binge since the All-Star break?

Kelly Oubre Jr. seems ready to commit long-term to the Suns, but what will the price be? We go over that while also recapping his impressive season in Phoenix.

Zion Williamson and Ja Morant shouldn't be in the same room, as far as better prospects go, but many Suns fans are trying to make it into a debate. What stands out about both, though, and how could they improve the team? Also, would you trade Morant's rights for Jrue Holiday or keep the pick?

Finally, we quickly go over the growth process Deandre Ayton has endured this season. What should the expectations be for Ayton during his second season?

LOCKED ON SUNS 3/28/19: What Devin Booker's career month means for the Suns going forward Mar 29, 2019
    Show notes

We break down the numbers and storylines behind Devin Booker’s incredible post-All-Star game stretch, in which he is scoring more than 30 points per game on elite efficiency.

Does this change our impressions of Booker’s ceiling? Does it prove anything with regards to his value as a playmaker?

Finally, we close with our thoughts on Kelly Oubre’s press conference on Wednesday and how likely he is to stay in Phoenix.

LOCKED ON SUNS 3/27/19: Yes, Devin Booker is actually good at basketball Mar 28, 2019
    Show notes

On today’s episode of Locked On Suns live from Talking Stick Resort Arena, we recapped the Phoenix Suns’ 124-121 loss to the Washington Wizards. Even though Devin Booker has scored 109 points over his last two games, it unfortunately hasn’t ended with the Suns as winners.

That doesn’t take away from the best stretch of Booker’s career, though. Are we seeing peak Booker, and what does this mean for next season?

Outside of Booker’s scorching hot scoring binge, Dragan Bender, Deandre Ayton and Troy Daniels also chipped in solid outings to give Phoenix a chance at the end to send it to overtime.

Let’s also not forget that a legitimate media company actually asked the question in 2019 whether Booker is actually good at this sport or not. What a way to prove that notion wrong by dropping 50 once more.

LOCKED ON SUNS 3/26/19: We just saw the best scoring night of Devin Booker's career Mar 26, 2019
    Show notes

We dig into Devin Booker’s career night, showcasing the growth he’s made on offense in his masterpiece — 59 points on 34 shots.

We talk about what Booker has added to his game, why this game was more impressive than his 70 in Boston in 2017, and finally what was going on with Jimmer Fredette in the fourth quarter.

LOCKED ON SUNS 3/25/19: Resetting the free agent market for Kelly Oubre Jr. and Richaun Holmes plus March Madness thoughts Mar 25, 2019
    Show notes

We preview free agency for Kelly Oubre Jr., whose addition was the turning point in the Suns’ season, as well as Richaun Holmes, whose energy and hard work was a huge culture-setter in the big man rotation this year.

Is Oubre going to get Josh Richardson money or Aaron Gordon money? The answer will affect the Suns’ future flexibility in a big way. Plus, did Alex Len’s contract coincidentally set the market for Holmes when Len left Phoenix?

We look out to the summer before bringing it back to the spring, where NBA Draft prospects are duking it out in March Madness.

LOCKED ON SUNS 3/22/19: News catchup on GM search, coaching rumors and injuries Mar 23, 2019
    Show notes

We react and analyze the rumors from The New York Times regarding the Suns’ ongoing search for new front office veterans that reportedly includes Kevin McHale and Jim Paxson already. McHale is the obvious frontrunner here.

Then, we discuss how realistic it seems that the Suns actually move on from Igor Kokoskov after one year based on their interest in Luke Walton, as reported by The Sporting News.

Finally, a prediction for the remaining nine games on the Suns’ schedule.

LOCKED ON SUNS 3/21/19: Ja Morant wins and the Suns lose Mar 22, 2019
    Show notes

We go over the Suns’ 118-98 loss to the Detroit Pistons live from Talking Stick Resort Arena, which included notable outings headlined by Devin Booker and Mikal Bridges.

After rummaging through our main takeaways from Phoenix’s latest defeat, we dived head-first into the Ja Morant discussion. Following a triple-double in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, Morant Mania is about to hit its peak from a local perspective.

However, we have seen some try to say Morant is the No. 1 prospect in the 2019 Draft. That is unfortunately incorrect, and we advise everyone in the Phoenix market to please not start a prospect debate involving Zion Williamson versus Morant.

Finally, we gave our final thoughts on the Morant hype train by throwing out this hypothetical scenario: Select the Murray State point guard at No. 2 overall or trade his rights for someone like Jrue Holiday?
