Steelers' Omar Khan Set Smokescreen for True 1st Round Plan? | Wrong to Plan on 2026 QB Draft Class? Apr 16, 2025

Show notes

Christopher Carter of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, hosts the Locked on Steelers podcast and is joined by Nick Farabaugh of PennLive.com.

The Pittsburgh Steelers' first round options are plenty, and Omar Khan might've set up enough of a smokescreen to keep teams from knowing their true intentions. Christopher Carter and Nick Farabaugh discuss if that's the case, and how the Steelers could use that to their advantage to find the first round defensive tackle, wide receiver or defensive back for the future.

Also, Chris and Nick discuss the potential for Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders to rise or fall down the NFL Draft boards in the first round and where he might actually go. Will the Steelers see him fall to their pick in the first round? Or will someone take a chance on him inside the top 10 picks?

Finally, Chris and Nick discuss the Steelers' plan if they wait for a quarterback in the 2026 NFL Draft. Could the plan backfire if Archie Manning and Nico Iamaleava aren't available? Chris and Nick believe other potential prospects like LaNorris Sellers could be a much better option than settling for any of the 2025 quarterback prospects.

Steelers Must Prioritize Kenneth Grant, Derrick Harmon 1st Round | George Pickens Works w/Route God Apr 11, 2025

Show notes

Christopher Carter of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, hosts the Locked on Steelers podcast.

The Pittsburgh Steelers need at defensive tackle makes it a priority for the team to get Kenneth Grant or Derrick Harmon as their first round pick. Christopher Carter argues the case for why either player could turn into a generational difference maker in the middle of their defense to finally replace their loss of Stephon Tuitt from 2020.

Also, Chris answers your questions from the Locked on Steelers call-in line about George Pickens working with the route god coach and whether he can develop into an elite receiver, as well as on what quarterback might be a Ryan Tannehill-like feel in Arthur Smith's offense, and another less-spoken about quarterback in the NFL Draft class.

How Steelers' Long Term Plan Impacts Draft Plans at QB, Beyond | Not Buying T.J. Watt Trade Hysteria Apr 10, 2025

Show notes

Christopher Carter of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, hosts the Locked on Steelers podcast.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have a clear long term plan for finding their franchise quarterback. Christopher Carter goes over the several steps they must commit to if they want to build back to being a championship team. In doing that, Chris takes several of your calls on the important aspects of their quarterback search and beyond. T.J. Watt posted a picture that had Steelers fans in a frenzy, and Chris addresses that hysteria in reminding people why it's unlikely the Steelers would trade Watt.

Chris also addresses just what it would take for the Steelers to trade up in the 2026 NFL Draft for their franchise quarterback, why Jaxson Dart isn't an option for him in the first round, and how George Pickens might not be out of the picture when it comes to a longer future with the team just yet.

Should Steelers Prepare to Draft Shedeur Sanders in First Round? | Top Separation WRs in NFL Draft Apr 09, 2025

Show notes

Christopher Carter of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, hosts the Locked on Steelers podcast, and is joined by Nick Farabaugh of PennLive.com.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are schedule to host Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders for a draft visit Thursday. Christopher Carter and Nick Farabaugh discuss if Sanders is the right option for the Steelers with their 21st pick in the first round of the NFL Draft. Should Mike Tomlin and Omar Khan look at him in the first round if he falls? Or should the Steelers stick with their plan of drafting a top quarterback in 2026 and wait to draft a mid-round quarterback in 2025?

Also, Chris and Nick discuss top day two options at cornerback like Notre Dame's Benjamin Morrison and Iowa State's Damien Porter. Finally, the guys discuss who the better separation wide receivers are in the NFL Draft past Matthew Golden. Could the Steelers take a look at Washington State's Kyle Williams or Pitt's Konata Mumpfield.

Why Steelers' NFL Draft QB Plan BETTER NOT Be Impacted by Aaron Rodgers' Decision | Just Pay TJ Watt Apr 08, 2025

Show notes

Christopher Carter of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, hosts the Locked on Steelers podcast, and is joined by Alan Saunders of SteelersNow.com.

The Pittsburgh Steelers' NFL Draft plans at quarterback have been clear for months. But Christopher Carter and Alan Saunders argue they shouldn't change regardless of Aaron Rodgers' free agency decision. If the Steelers were to consider drafting Jaxson Dart or Jalen Milroe in the first round should Rodgers not sign with the team, it would set the franchise back from the plan it's had in place to make progress and find its real future franchise quarterback.

Also, Chris and Alan discuss whether the Steelers need a power running option at running back to pair with Jaylen Warren or if a speed back could work. Finally, the guys also discuss whether a TJ Watt trade would make sense, or if the team should just pay their superstar defensive playmaker.

Steelers' Top NFL Draft Defensive Tackles Ranked | Kenneth Grant vs Derrick Harmon vs Walter Nolen Apr 07, 2025

Show notes

Christopher Carter of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, hosts the Locked on Steelers podcast, and is joined by Noah Strackbein of All Steelers Talk and Sports Illustrated.

The Pittsburgh Steelers need a defensive tackle, so Christopher Carter and Noah Strackbein go over their top five defensive tackles in this NFL Draft class. Excluding Mason Graham, Chris and Noah look over the Kenneth Grant, Derrick Harmon, Walter Nolen, T.J. Sanders and Tyleik Williams as far as who would be the best option for the Steelers in the first round, whether it's at the 21st pick or a trade back to a later pick.

Then, Chris and Nick look at how the Steelers have shown interest in safety during the draft process and wonder if that means they're open to drafting Nick Emmanwori, Xavier Watts or Malaki Starks, or if that supposed interest is a smokescreen. Finally, the guys go over this week's winner of Mock Draft Monday.

Steelers' DK Metcalf/George Pickens to Make 'Weapons of Pass Destruction' Duo? | Ranking Draft CB Apr 04, 2025

Show notes

Christopher Carter of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, hosts the Locked on Steelers podcast and is joined by Derrick Bell of SteelersNow.com.

The Pittsburgh Steelers' wide receivers DK Metcalf and George Pickens are both deep threats, but Christopher Carter and Derrick Bell think there's more to them as a pair. Could Metcalf and Pickens become the 'weapons of pass destruction' duo that makes the Steelers' passing game come alive even with mid-tier quarterback play like Aaron Rodgers and Mason Rudolph?

Also, Chris and Derrick go over the cornerback prospects of the NFL Draft and where Derrick has several of the top and middle prospects ranked. Could Azareye'h Thomas be the mid-round steal? Or should the Steelers go for a Will Johnson-type of cornerback in the first round? Finally, Chris and Derrick go over the day two and three quarterback prospects like Jaxson Dart, Jalen Milroe, Will Howard and Tyler Shough to find who the best options are for a later quarterback pick by the Steelers.
