James Franklin is not happy with Big Ten leaders Aug 20, 2020

Show notes

Penn State head coach James Franklin said telling his players and their families about the Big Ten's decision to not play football this year felt like a punch to the gut. Can you blame him? Franklin spoke to media during a Zoom call on Tuesday and he was clearly frustrated with the process. Hear what Franklin had to say about that process form his point of view.

Also in today's episode, we ask some recruiting questions to Ryan Snyder of Rivals.com outlet Blue White Illustrated. How will no football impact Penn State recruiting, if at all? And what's coming up on the recruiting trail for the Nittany Lions?

Note: The Big Ten released an open letter to fans about the decision to not play fall sports this year after this episode was recorded and put together. We will react in the next episode.

Dust still settling on Big Ten's no-football decision Aug 18, 2020

Show notes

Are you still coming to grips with the fact there will be no Big ten football this fall, or are you holding out hope any one of the movements to demand answers and requests to play this fall will lead the conference to overturning the decision? In today's episode, host Kevin McGuire chats with Andrew Wade of Locked On Hawkeyes a week after the Big Ten shut down all fall sports, including football.

Penn State and Iowa were among the Big Ten schools expressing a desire to still play this fall, but the sights now appear to be set on the spring. Kevin and Andrew discuss whether or not it will even be possible to play this fall and what happens next for the Nittany Lions, Hawkeyes, and the rest of the Big Ten.

Today's episode also touches on some other notable headlines, like UNC announcing a decision to go to remote learning a week after welcoming students back on campus, the SEC releasing its schedule, and Penn State Athletics Director Sandy Barbour saying she is unsure if there was even a vote by Big Ten presidents and chancellors to postpone fall sports.
