Trading likability for undeniability with Candice Brathwaite Feb 21, 2024
    Show notes

Candice Brathwaite is an absolute force to be reckoned and utterly brilliant in every way! If you’ve not read her books you will have cackled at her podcast Closet Confessions, or gazed for hours at her endless style and big sister chats on instagram. Her early career was centred around being likable and fitting a mould, until a very public trolling scandal made her reassess how she would show up moving forward - the less she focused on being liked, the more she realised how much she had been hiding her true self. Even after years of success, she is just now exiting her season of doubt.

Tune into episode 7 of Listen Loudly to hear my conversation with podcaster, presenter, author, and all-round baddie Candice Brathwaite. Prepare to laugh, cry and take ALL the notes - the lessons flow non-stop, you’ll have to pause, rewind, note-take and keep it moving!

    In this episode, you’ll learn:

    • How following her gut has paid off for Candice (05:37)
    • Why you can’t let the internet rush you (09:54)
    • How Candice dealt with online trolling from a popular mommy blogger (12:36)

Choosing yourself and your sense of belonging with Dr. Chelsea Jackson Roberts Feb 07, 2024
    Show notes

The root and messaging of, not belonging, can take a swift hold on us - messaging from others/society becomes internalised and part of who we perceive ourselves to be in the world. It took some time for Chelsea to feel a sense of belonging in the yoga world, but as she redefined who she was in the space, along with her teaching, she kicked open doors for others. Chelsea believes this can expand into uniting communities.

Chelsea leans into the basics in her teaching to build solid foundations and a reconnection to self. Today, you’ll hear about Chelsea’s journey from elementary school teacher to world renowned yoga instructor. Tune in and hear how her university experience instilled a sense of leadership in her, why she believes in meeting people where they are at, and how her experience with yoga finally made her feel grounded, present, and at ease.

Paving the way as a broadcaster and a lifelong connection to movement with Clara Amfo Jan 24, 2024
    Show notes

Curiosity. It’s such a no pressure word with so much openness, yet how many of us really embrace it? Of course, mistakes can still happen, but when we’re embracing our curiosity—allowing ourselves to learn and explore and just see what happens—it can be a great antidote to the rigidness that so many of us live with.

Tune into episode 3 of Listen Loudly and hear my conversation with my friend Clara Amfo, a radio and television broadcaster and podcast host. Clara has sat down with incredible artists like Jay-Z, Elton John, Harry Styles and Billie Eilish and she’s one of the most truly brilliant people I’ve ever met.

Today, you’ll learn how Clara is embracing the idea of living in the moment, what her relationship with movement has been like throughout her life, and the importance of having media representation of all walks of life.

    In this episode, you’ll learn:

    • The big career move that Clara is making—and why she’s so excited about it (07:24)
    • Some wise words straight from rapper Redman himself (09:41)
    • How Clara’s parents raised her without a strict adherence to gender roles (15:24)
    • Clara has her very own Barbie made in her image—right down to the gold hoops (21:27)
    • How Clara finds power and process in movement (30:32)
    • Clara has always had to work smarter and harder because of her background (38:58)

Tune into episode 2 of Listen Loudly and meet my very first guest, endurance runner and fellow Peloton instructor Susie Chan.

Susie is an incredible athlete who got into sport in her 30s and most recently competed one of the toughest races on earth. Susie’s down to earth nature, matched with her laser focus, when it comes to doing hard things, really lays out a roadmap of how we can approach challenges, no matter their size.

Today, you’ll hear the moment that Susie listened loudly to herself and in doing so, changed her life forever; how she overcame her fear of public speaking that impacted her for a decade; and how the feeling you get in a 1 mile race or a 100 mile race, teaches us the same thing!

Welcome to Listen Loudly Jan 09, 2024
    Show notes

When I started out in the fitness industry over 20 years ago, I had the incredible privilege of getting to hone my skills without the global stage of social media—and all the pressures that go with it. Since then, I’ve been through several major career evolutions, including over a decade with Nike and my current position as an instructor with Peloton. As a lifelong athlete, I’ve made it my mission to coach others to reach their own unique fitness goals, wherever the target may be.

Though Listen Loudly is a fresh start, you’ll still hear similar content to what inspired me on Fitness Unfiltered, this time with an even greater focus on learning from others. Through conversation with my dream guests (and some of my best friends!), you’ll learn exactly why it’s so important to listen loudly in order to make yourself heard. Everyone I welcome to my new show is incredible in their own right, and I’m so excited for you to hear the knowledge and experience they have to share.

    In this episode, you’ll learn:

    • A little about my old podcast, Fitness Unfiltered, and my decision to rebrand (01:04)
    • How my role at Peloton came to be—and why I almost didn’t take the opportunity (03:57)
    • What you can expect from my guests on this new series (09:12)
    • Why I’ve made it my mission to acknowledge those who don’t feel seen in the world of movement (11:41)
