How to Grow a Real Fanbase: Kato on the Track Jun 21, 2021
    Show notes

How can a musician grow a real fanbase and become a six-figure musician with Kato on the Track.

In this episode music producer, Kato breaks down how to build a fanbase as a rapper, how to build a fanbase on Spotify or Apple Music, and how to build a fanbase as an artist on social media.

To be clear, this isn't a simple process. Building a fanbase can be discouraging when you're just starting your music career so I asked Kato On The Track his view on luck, music marketing, and the word “realistic” for musicians trying to start a music career.

The Legal Marijuana Industry with Humboldt Seed Company’s Nathaniel Pennington Jun 17, 2021
    Show notes

How people make it in the legal marijuana industry explained by Humboldt Seed Company’s Nathaniel Pennington.

We covered how to get started in the legal cannabis business, weed business 101, and the many challenges that come with the legal marijuana industry. The Humboldt Seed Company’s founder Nathaniel Pennington explains how normal can people make it in the legal weed business and if marijuana legalization is inevitable In The US.

We also discussed what it’s like running a marijuana seed and farming business in Humboldt County, the highs and lows of the weed business, and if California's legal weed is so heavily taxed and regulated that the black market might survive.

Personally, I don’t use cannabis at the moment but have become increasingly uncomfortable with headlines like “Why This Man Served 32 Years in Prison for Weed”, “Teen Faces Life Sentence for Pot Brownies” and “Man Who Was Sentenced To Life In Prison for Selling $30 Of Marijuana” just to name a few. I asked Nathaniel Pennington for the truth about the people in jail for marijuana possession. Regardless of your personal use of the plant, someone in jail as we speak from weed while corporations are making millions is tragic. Frankly, it's sad and embarrassing to see.

The Humboldt Seed Company is on a mission to provide high-quality cannabis seeds to customers who want to grow their own cannabis plants. Founded in 2001 by biologists in Humboldt County, CA, we began breeding for patients under Prop 215. We have since evolved for the recreational market. The whole point is that we only keep the very best of the best. You can find more info on The Humboldt Seed Company and Nathaniel Pennington here: https://humboldtseedcompany.com/

How to Change Your Habits: Dr. Ross Ellenhorn Jun 14, 2021
    Show notes

Top therapist Dr. Ross Ellenhorn explains how to change your habits or better yet, how to change habits in only 21 days by asking "how we change" and why we don't.

In this episode, Dr. Ross Ellenhorn suggests that we need to rethink addiction and questions if Alcoholics Anonymous works. Dr. Ross Ellenhorn also explains why we are all afraid of change and how to overcome fear, addiction & resistance similar to Dr. Gabor Maté. The power of habit mindset reminds us to stop being afraid of failure and Dr. Ross Ellenhorn’s book How We Change (And Ten Reasons Why We Don't) was a big part of that.

We really explored the complex nature of the word “hope” and the fear of hope because we all need it and crave it for motivation but we also are terrified of it causing us pain. So for anyone afraid to make a change, you're not alone and if you're afraid to fail, watch this as I hope it helps someone out there.

The Credit Card Scammer: John Boseak Jun 10, 2021
    Show notes

How John Boseak went from homeless to a multi-million dollar cyber credit card scammer.

John Boseak has been called many things including, “The Kingpin of Credit Card Fraud”, Miami’s “Dark Lord of Credit Card Scams”, and the “King of Carding.” In this episode, John Boseak explains how he committed fraud, dark web credit card scamming 101, and why fake credit card scams are “chump change”.

Thanks to Matthew Cox, I found John Boseak on the Koncrete podcast. Matt Cox also wrote BENT: How a Homeless Teen–Turned Credit Card Counterfeiter–Made Millions in the Cyber Underworld and Walked Away, a book about John J. Boseak that you can find here: https://insidetruecrime.com/bent-cyber-scammer-takes-secret-service-for-millions/

Regardless of how you feel about John, it’s an undeniably interesting true crime story. John is a charismatic dude who has cleaned up his life as a professional tattoo artist with a major documentary in the works. Once again, sorry about the audio, John was traveling today so we couldn’t meet my quality standard. I apologize if it bothered you!

The Toxic World of Self Help: Authentic or Charlatan? Spencer Cornelia Jun 07, 2021
    Show notes

Today I interview Spencer Cornelia, best known for his popular YouTube series “Authentic or Charlatan.”

Spencer Cornelia believes that the business of selling success is broken. Spencer Cornelia created “Authentic or Charlatan” to critique the rise of “fake gurus” and share the dark truth about the toxic world of self-help.

Authentic or Charlatan exposes self-help gurus like Dan Lok, Tai Lopez, Dan Pena, and Grant Cardone. The big question remains: are these self-help success gurus a scam or not?

I found Spencer on a similar channel called “Coffeezilla” where the guys were discussing if self-improvement can "ruin" your life, if you really can get rich quick, and if success is luck or hard work? We covered all the above in this episode plus something much closer to home, his popular video called “Why Your Favorite Musicians Are Broke." Enjoy the episode!

This conversation started with Adam Neumann but quickly lead to Elizabeth Holmes, Bad Blood, Theranos, and other Silicon Valley start-up disasters. Oh, and we can’t forget about Billy McFarland, the man responsible for the start-up fraud known as “Fyre Festival."

The Effects of the YouTube Recommended Algorithm: Brian Christian May 20, 2021
    Show notes

How does social media compete for your attention, does the YouTube algorithm need to be stopped, and is Netflix’s "The Social Dilemma" accurate?

Today I spoke with acclaimed author Brian Christian about something thats been worrying me, the negative effects of the YouTube recommended algorithm. We also covered his books Algorithms to Live By which explains how to manage your time more effectively (according to machines) and The Alignment Problem where Brian writes about his concerns if we lose control of artificial intelligence.

Personally, I wish I would have watched The Social Dilemma before I started using social media many years ago and I worry that social media is giving kids (and us adults) spikes of anxiety. I may sound dramatic but I wonder that if we lose control, social media can ruin/destroy our mental health.

Finally, Brian is too brilliant for me not to ask his take on if life is actually a simulation (simulation theory) + Elon Musk, Tesla, artificial intelligence, algorithms: pros and cons, and much more. Enjoy!
