#326: "A Long Way From Nowhere", Announcing Our Film With Paul Scheuring Mar 11, 2023
    Show notes

Very excited to announce the release of our film A LONG WAY FROM NOWHERE available free online at the Audacious Report Youtube Channel!! WATCH THE FILM: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V0ddwnZ5CEM What compels a person to run 150 miles through the desert at the height of summer? Is it the need for achievement, the competitive instinct, or something more profound—a spiritual need for hardship, for catharsis, and from it, healing? A Long Way From Nowhere highlights ordinary people on an extreme adventure who discover that we often find ourselves not out in the great big yonder.... but from within. A Long Way From Nowhere is brought to you by Filmmakers Paul Scheuring and Chris Ward - who met on the trail at this event in 2018. Paul has over twenty years of professional filmmaking experience working as a writer, producer, and director, with credits such as the FOX smash TV hit Prison Break, which he created, and the Discovery miniseries Klondike. Chris is a middle school science teacher and first-time director who has produced over 325 episodes of his adventure sports podcast Like a Bigfoot. “Cinematic, motivating, and (at times) heart-wrenching, "A Long Way from Nowhere" is one of the best adventure films I have seen in a long time. Two thumbs up and five big stars!” - Travis Macy- athlete and author of The Ultra Mindset

#325: Robbie Balenger -- "The Audacious Report", Finding Himself On The "Colorado Crush" Mar 03, 2023
    Show notes

This week we are sitting down and chatting with the absolutely incredible athlete Robbie Balenger!!! In 2021, Robbie completed the Colorado Crush, a challenge he created which consisted of running all the events in Leadville (marathon, 50 miler and 100 miler) along with running the entire Colorado Trail and summiting all of the 14ers all in one summer. It is a mind blowing and incredibly hard accomplishment! Robbie and filmmaker Reece Robinson were able to capture all the ups and downs with their excellent film called "Colorado Crush" on their channel "The Audacious Report" (where our film will appear in a few weeks!) In this episode we talk all about that challenge. How did Robbie scare a bear away using the sultry voice of Rod Stewart? In what ways has his view on masculinity changed by taking on giant endurance challenges? What has he discovered by taking on the filmmaking project "Audacious Report" with Reece and what plans do they have for the future of their channel? Truly hope you all enjoy this episode!! It was quite the honor to chat with such an amazing dude!!

#319: Kelly Halpin -- The Relationship Between Adventure and Art, WURL & Grand Teton Picnic Jan 13, 2023
    Show notes

I really enjoy people who bring their own unique and creative perspective to adventures in the outdoors. They fully embrace their individuality and find interesting ways to express what it feels like to be pushing their limits in really beautiful places. It’s that expression of these adventures that always fascinates me. This week we are chatting with adventurer and artist Kelly Halpin about the overlap between art and exploration. Kelly is a fantastic artist and an inspiring ultra endurance athlete living in Jackson Hole, Wyoming at the foot of the Tetons. She has taken on countless epic adventures in the mountains including multiple WURLs- Wasatch Ultimate Ridge Linkup (which truly must be one of the hardest challenges out there) and Grand Teton Picnics- Triathlon combining cycling from Jackson Hole, swimming across Jenny Lake, summiting the Grand Teton and then doing everything in reverse. In this episode we talk about both of those huge challenges, how her journey as an artist and adventure have co-existed, and the freedom doing hard things in the mountains brings her. This is a really good one!! I hope you enjoy!! And be sure to check out Kelly’s art at her website and some of the awesome films that have been produced about her adventures!
