Blood Duel Review Apr 15, 2018
    Show notes

In this podcast, we get a quote from Bob Koplar about Voltron in Ready Player One, which was exciting to see. We also read a couple more fan emails about Season 5, talk about the Castleships in Retro Voltron, and we review Voltron Legendary Defender Season 5: Episode 2: Blood Duel.

If you have seen Ready Player One, then you know the final battle scene took place on Planet Doom (Zarkon's home planet in Voltron: Defender of the Universe), and the ends credits display "Courtesy of WEP, LLC", so we have a quote from Bob Koplar, President of WEP (World Events Productions), the owner of Voltron.

Marc talks about the great dinner with Voltron friends at the Jazz Kitchen in Downtown Disney, when Marc and Kim were at WonderCon. Thanks to Shamus, Blacky, Nigel, Shannon, Kevin, Dani, Eric, Jody, and Kim for that wonderful time with friends!

Greg gives us an update on Playmates Toys for Voltron Legendary Defender.

Congrats to Bex Taylor-Klaus for getting a tattoo of Rover, which was featured in a Bex takeover of the VoltronOfficial Instagram account! Rover and Pidge will forever be linked together!

We read 2 more emails from podcast listeners, covering thoughts on Season 5. The Voltron Signature Prize Pack giveaway entry deadline has passed, so we will be announcing the winner of that prize pack a few podcasts from now.

Here is the image from @ArtbyKays of Pidge and Bex we mention in this podcast. Thanks, Kays!

Since the Retro Voltron segment talks about Castleships, here are the pictures of Benjamin Kaltenecker's own Panosh Place Castle of Lions Playset:

Marc and Greg also review Episode 2 from Season 5 of Voltron Legendary Defender on Netflix: Blood Duel.

Here are some screenshots from that epsiode:

    Retro Voltron Segment

Thanks to Greg, we are introducing a brand new segment which will now be in every podcast, called Retro Voltron. We appreciate everything Voltron, and although Voltron Legendary Defender is the freshest Voltron out there (100% on Rotten Tomatoes), we want to share something from Days of Long Ago or maybe not so long ago, with respect to Voltron. This segment will share our thoughts on something cool and interesting from the Voltron Universe.

In this podcast, we talk about how different the first episode of Beast King GoLion is compared to that episode edited for Voltron: Defender of the Universe when it first aired in 1984. The stories for the Japanese GoLion are vastly different from the American Voltron, despite using most of the same animation. Hear Greg and Marc's thoughts about these in this podcast.

As Always, Thanks for Listening! Let's Voltron!!

Joaquim & Lauren Interview & The Voltron Show Review Feb 07, 2018
    Show notes

The Greatest Showrunners of ALL TIME join Marc and Greg on this podcast! Executive Producer Joaquim Dos Santos and Co-Executive Producer Lauren Montgomery spend some time with us to talk about Season 5 of Voltron Legendary Defender and what we can expect to see at Emerald City Comic Con, just before the highly anticipated release of Season 5 on Netflix. They also give us some insight on our Season 4 episode review for this podcast, The Voltron Show.

Joaquim Dos Santos and Lauren Montgomery are The Greatest Showrunners of ALL TIME because they've given the world a show that continues to exceed all of our expectations and it takes us on a ride we hope never stops. Every time we watch, we are amazed at the depth of these characters, and the breadth of how much is still left untold. They hit every emotion, several times over. And, that needlepoint picture above was made because Lauren requested it. Can everyone make that into a quilt and send it to Lauren, please, so they know how much we all love them? Send your Greatest Showrunners of ALL TIME needlepoint and/or quilt to:

    DreamWorks Animation,
    c/o Lauren Montgomery,
    1000 Flower St,
    Glendale, CA 91201

Here's that same picture in it's original form. If you agree, feel free to flood the internet with it!

Voltron was many things to many people before DreamWorks' Voltron Legendary Defender came to Netflix, but thanks to Joaquim and Lauren's passion and leadership, this collaboration of DreamWorks Animation and Studio Mir has become more than just a TV Show to people all over the world. It has become a symbol of hope that people everywhere CAN join together and overcome great obstacles to make our universe better for future generations.

We are honored to have Joaquim Dos Santos and Lauren Montgomery on this podcast, and we know if you're a fan of Voltron Legendary Defender, you'll be paying close attention to what happens at ECCC, just before Season 5 comes out on Netflix. We'll have all that coverage, live-tweeting from the panel and another exclusive interview with Joaquim and Lauren, LIVE and in person, from ECCC in Seattle, WA.

Here's all the details about that convention and all the information we know up to this point:

Coran goes through so much in this one episode, and we're laughing through most of it. If you're a fan of live stage performances, you'll enjoy all the references that make this a real gem of an episode.

Black Site Review with Lexi Hoffman Jan 31, 2018
    Show notes

Marc and Greg are joined by special guest Lexi Hoffman to review Voltron Legendary Defender Season 4: Episode 3: Black Site. Lexi had previously filled in for Greg on our podcast with Jamie Gray Hyder (Zethrid), and gives another great perspective for reviewing this Season 4 episode.

Lexi Hoffman is a World History Teacher and long-time Voltron fan from Colorado, inspiring new generations of Voltron fans. She appeared on the Jamie Gray Hyder podcast, so you can check that out here:

    https://letsvoltron.simplecast.fm/d2f9e3f4

You can follow Lexi on Twitter @redlion004

Today is release day for Voltron Legendary Defender Volume 2: Pilgrimage, the trade paperback for the second volume of the Voltron Legendary Defender comics series from Lion Forge Comics!

    (W) Tim Hedrick, Mitch Iverson (A) Jung Gwan, Rubine (CA) Mariko
When the Voltron Paladins respond to a distress call, they discover a group of alien settlers on a mining planet under attack by the Galra. The five daring pilots must then escort the convoy of rescued settlers to their new home. To succeed they must cross into increasingly dangerous territory, successfully navigate among frightening predators and colossal beasts, and battle the evil Galra!

The Trade Paperback should be available at your local comic shop. Here is an image of the cover and how you can pre-order it on the Voltron Store:

    https://store.voltron.com/products/voltron-legendary-defender-volume-2-pre-order-ships-2

The Voltron Store is having a Valentines Day special discount until February 14th! Save 14% by using the code LOVE14 at checkout!

Of course, the big news is that we now know that Voltron Legendary Defender Season 5 is coming out on Netflix on March 2, 2018! This was presented to us by DreamWorks and Netflix through a number of images on the official Voltron accounts, as well as some of the voice actors' social media accounts. Here are some of those images:

Also in this podcast, Lexi helps Marc and Greg review Black Site, the third episode from Season 4 of Voltron Legendary Defender. We really enjoyed seeing Matt meet the Voltron team, and then helping Hunk and Pidge develop a way to track Galra fleets throughout the galaxy. We especially liked seeing Lance show Coran and Allura how Kaltenecker helps them make really good milkshakes, and the severe reactions they had to witnessing it first hand.

Of course, the main thrust of the episode was Lotor meeting with Zarkon, and Haggar finding out what Lotor was building, and Zarkon putting the "kill on site" APB to the Galra Empire. And we mourn the loss of Narti, who we had hoped to get to know better as time passed.

Here are some screenshots from Black Site:
