52 - Matthew Shepard Dec 26, 2019

Show notes

It was a cold October night, when cyclist Aaron Kreifels came upon something horrifying on the side of the desolate road as he made his way home just after dusk. Slumped over and tied to a fence post was bloody & brutally beaten Matthew Shepard clinging to life.

It would later be determined that Matthew had been slumped at the fence for over 18 hours since he had been beaten and tied to the fence by two young locals, Russell Henderson & Aaron Mckinney. He suffered traumatic injuries to his head that put him in a coma, from which he would never recover.

The media was quick to determine this was one of the worst hate crimes in history due to Matthew being a young gay man...but was there actually more to the story than we were presented at the time? Join us as we delve into the tragic story of Matthew Shepard.

49 - The Taliesin Massacre: A Fiery, Axe-Murdering Rampage Oct 31, 2019

Show notes

Taliesin was the 600 acre estate owned by renowned architect Frank Lloyd Wright, located south of the village of Spring Green, Wisconsin.

After having an affair with Mary (Mamah) Borthwick, Wright left his first wife Catherine Lee Tobin, and designed Taliesin, where he and Mamah would reside.

Many of Wright’s most acclaimed designs were created there, and although beautiful, the property was home to a brutal massacre. One afternoon, a butler working for Wright set fire to the property and then took an axe to the residents of the estate. He killed 7 people, making it the most murders committed by one civilian at one place and time in Wisconsin history.
With all the violence and turmoil that took place on the property, it is said to be haunted by restless spirits to this day.

45 - Operation Paperclip Pt. 2 - Sweet revenge for some, big honors for others... Sep 26, 2019

Show notes

In the conclusion to our coverage of Operation Paperclip, the US's project to bring Nazi scientists & doctors to the United States to make big bucks working for the Army, we delve further into the blurred lines of legality, morality, and what our government will do to be on top. Here's a hint: whatever it takes, biiiiitch. In all honesty, it's pretty messed up, but that's why we do what we do here at CIR. <3

44 - Operation Paperclip Pt. 1 - The moral convictions of a televangelist... Sep 06, 2019

Show notes

In the chaos following World War II, one of the most fucked up spoils of war were Germany’s greatest scientific minds.

The US government covertly began a campaign to bring these morally reprehensible, brilliant minds to America to privately work for us without the public’s knowledge - calling it Operation Paperclip.

In part one of our coverage of this Nazi scientist & physician soiree, we discuss just what exactly the Nazis were doing during and at the end of the war, the men charged with finding this out, the men pretending to try and flesh it out, and what happened once we realized the advances they had made for both chemical and biological warfare. Turns out, we didn't really care what these men did as long as we got to use their brains.
