81 - Alex Jones & QAnon: White Boys Gone Wild Nov 12, 2020

Show notes

There may have been a time when Alex Jones had intentions other than, as Texas Monthly aptly put it, “helping to create a world where facts don’t matter.” but that version of himself is long, long gone. The fantastic publication awarded Jones their 2019 Bum Steer of the Year award, saying “the radio host dragged our democracy into the same sewer he crawled out of so many years ago.” and we could not agree more. Unfortunately, he trolled his way right into the president's pocket, playing a key role in his rhetoric and decisions.
In an age of rampant disinformation, we discuss the role Jones has played in creating a false reality, and the others he's paved the way for, like QAnon. Is Alex Jones the most prolific conspiracy theorist of modern times? You know we'll creep it real, so let's talk about it.

78 - Alfred Packer: Why deny ourselves a bite of meaty thigh to Stay Alive? Oct 12, 2020

Show notes

In this episode, we discuss one of America's oldest pastimes: cannibalism. Alfred (or Alferd if you ask him) Packer was an early settler in the Western Frontier which was essentially one hard time after another, and that wasn't helped by his general unlikeableness and all-around shady behavior. In 1874, when he led a group of men through the harsh Colorado winter wilderness against the warnings of the Indigenous tribe who had welcomed them in, all the men ended up dead, except for ol' Packer. In fact, he claimed to have survived off something all together unsettling: the men's meaty thighs. The story was an uproar for the newly settled area, and it was a venerable shitshow as they attempted to seek justice for the dead men. Join us for a very special collaboration with our girls over at Kim and Ket Stay Alive...Maybe who covered the amazingly bizarre movie "Ravenous" which was very loosely based off the story of Alfred Packer and is MUCH sexier. At the end of the episode, we all sit together to discuss our feelings on cannibalism, Ravenous, Packer, and which of us would be cool with chomping on some meaty thighs...outside of the bedroom.

73 - The Delphi Murders of Abby Williams & Libby German Aug 30, 2020

Show notes

On February 13, 2017, Liberty German, 14, and Abigail Williams, 13, were hiking on the Delphi Historic Trail near the Monon High Bridge just east of Delphi, Indiana. Libby and Abby were reported missing to police after their parents were unable to locate them at the pick-up location after their hike, which was under two hours. Volunteers subsequently discovered the girls’ bodies in the woods off the historic trail system the following day, on February 14. Very little information about the girls' murders has been released to the public, and not much is known about the crime scene or what evidence investigators have. Although there is video and audio of the killer taken by one of the girls, their case remains unsolved to this day. Join us as we discuss the details surrounding the murders of Abby Williams and Libby German.
