    Learn English with Bob the Canadian

    If you want to learn English you’ve come to the right place. I’m Bob the Canadian and I make videos on Youtube (Just search for “Bob the Canadian” on Youtube!) as well as podcasts right here to help you learn English. Each week I teach a lesson and I host a question and answer session about the English language. During these sessions I will my best to answer as many questions as I can that you have about the English language!

    Should You Take An English Class? Dec 11, 2021

    There are a lot of ways to learn English. You can study English on your own. You can use an app. You can watch a lot of TV and Youtube videos and try to learn a few things or maybe even shadow someone. You can learn English from books and magazines.
    So is taking an English class still a good idea? Like a real, in-person English class? I think it is. In this English video lesson I'll give you 6 reasons why I think it is still a very good idea to take an English class.
    I'm not sure if you can find classes in your local town or if they are even meeting right now because of COVID, but if you can, I think they will be worth your while. You'll get to meet new people. You'll have a great teacher. You'll be forced to do things that will improve your English and take you to a new level. You'll even get a chance to test yourself and see how good you are at speaking English!
    So if you are learning English, why not give it a try? Find an English class and sign up! I'm sure it will be a great experience!

    Free English Class! Topic: Computers! (Part 2) 👨‍💻👩‍💻💻 Dec 04, 2021

    I think it's time for another English lesson about computers! A few months ago I did part 1 of this lesson, and since then I've come up with a few more words and phrases that I think you should learn. As you know computers are an amazing tool to use every day. I, for one, could not live without them.
    They are, of course, also an amazing tool for learning English. You can use your computer to watch videos, play games, and practice your English vocabulary. They truly are really cool!
    In this free English class I'll help you learn English words and phrases that you can use when talking or writing about computers.
    You'll learn words like undo, redo, reboot, upload, crash, download, hack, install, copy and paste. It may seem like this is a simple English vocabulary lesson, but it will be much more than that! During the lesson, if you listen closely, I'll be using many phrases as I talk about each word that you can learn and use when you talk about computers!

    In this English lesson I'll teach you 5 neat little things you can do to stay motivated while learning English. As any learner knows the secret to success is sometimes to just stay motivated. Staying motivated can be hard at times, but there are things you can do that really help.
    In this English lesson I'll talk about the power of competition, how just getting started can lead to progress, how tracking your progress can be motivating, and how a simple picture on the wall can propel you forward with your learning.

    Do You Think English is the Worst Language to Learn? Here Are Some Tips to Help with That! Nov 26, 2021

    In this English lesson I'm going to talk about 5 of the most frustrating parts of learning English. I'll also give a couple pieces of advice that should help you when you encounter these frustrating things.
    In this English lesson I'll talk a bit about phrasal verbs, idioms, contractions and reductions, spelling, pronunciation, and grammar rules. Knowing about the areas that can be a challenge can be the first step towards understanding them.
    In the end, there are two things you can do as an English learner to alleviate some of the stress. You can make sure you get lots of input when you are learning the language. Hearing English speakers use phrasal verbs, idioms, etc. regularly can really help train your ear and your mind! You can also hire an English tutor so you can ask someone about some of the things you encounter each week as you study English!

    14 Things You Might Not Know About Me - An English Lesson About Assumptions Nov 19, 2021

    In this English lesson I'll give you some model sentences that you can use to describe yourself. I'll do that by responding to assumptions some of you have about me! Last week I asked all of you to express some assumptions that you had about me. If you are not familiar with the word, "assumption" or the English verb, "to assume" it simply means to think something is true about someone without actually knowing it is true.
    In this English lesson you'll learn 14 things about me that you might not have known about. As you learn some new things about me I hope you're able to learn some English along the way.
    This lesson is good for English listening practice and is also a great way to learn some new English phrases that you can change slightly in order to describe yourself.
