League of Loreheads

Bard Feb 01, 2021

Show notes

Like a lot of champions we've explored, Bard, The Wandering Caretaker doesn't have much going for him. Chill out with some smooth grooves and crunchy vibes as we soar the stars and debate the horrors Bard is willing to fly away from while he collects his meeps.

Azir Jan 25, 2021

Show notes

Unfortunately, the lore for Azir, The Emperor of the Sands, is too messy for our liking. Like most champions, his backstory holds a lot of promise with little payoff. Unlike most champions, Azir's story is full of nonsensical decisions and massive plot holes, despite having a longer bio than most champions. Join us as we dissect where Riot went wrong with this emperor.

Content Warnings for discussions of rape and slavery. Never thought I'd have to put that in a podcast about LoL lore.

Aurelion Sol Jan 18, 2021

Show notes

Our favorite space dragon and star forger Aurelion Sol is a pretentious little beast who opens the door beyond the stars before we've even explored all of Runterra. Although he doesn't have much lore, it is denser than that old fruit cake you got for Christmas. Fun game: count how many times we say the word "Insufferable"

Ashe Jan 11, 2021

Show notes

Our favorite Frost Archer, Ashe, has a lot to explore and explore we did! Between comics, stories, and some fantastically interesting AU's, Ashe lends herself to some great arcs as she might be the strongest protagonist we've explored so far.

Aphelios Jan 04, 2021

Show notes

Aphelios, The Weapon of the Faithful has a surprisingly dark story involving quite a bit of self-poisoning, so to brighten things up we dreamt up some great skins he might get in the future. Help the Loreheads figure out who to trust in the Solari/Lunari battle as we wonder who is using who in this toxic (hah!) twin relationship between Aphelios and his twin, Alune.

Annie Dec 28, 2020

Show notes

One of the original champions in League of Legends, Annie: The Dark Child has a confusing mix of Absolutely Devastating backstory and Heartless Demon Child. Help us figure out where Annie fits in this universe as we pick apart her backstory and beautifully done cinematic.

Anivia Dec 21, 2020

Show notes

Anivia, the Spongebob of the Freljord. I mean...The Cryophoenix. Whatever. She basically has no lore, so we gotta fill in the spaces, and I, for one, like the Spongebob Alternate Universe. Since Anivia is our first Freljord champion, the Loreheads lay some groundwork for future frozen champs.

Amumu Dec 14, 2020

Show notes

There's not much in the Amumu lore, so naturally John went off on the one short story we had and basically just...told you the entire thing. You're welcome! Our favorite sad mummy was a prince or a yordle, was a sweet boy or a tyrannical young prince. No one really knows, but all of Amumu's legends end the same: A little mummy was left to wander Runterra alone and drown in his sorrows for the rest of time.

Alistar Dec 07, 2020

Show notes

So listen, The Minotaur Alistar doesn't have a lot going for him so we had to make some stuff up. What adorable champion would you like to see bash some baddies around with our favorite Minotaur? Or maybe you can go Mark's Frenemies route. Either way, this dude is a true support, and also can someone please get these chains off of him? Do they not have fantasy wire cutters or something?

Akali Nov 30, 2020

Show notes

The Rogue Assassin Akali has a great little backstory, but so do a bunch of side characters that we might have gotten a bit distracted by. Riot please give us a Faey champion I am begging.
