Arcane: Act 1 Nov 11, 2021

Show notes

Like just about everyone else, we obsessively loved the first three episodes of Arcane. We have a few theories here (ONE WE WILL NEVER SPEAK OF AGAIN, JOHN) and some predictions, but for the most part, this is just us talking about all the things we loved. There's a lot Riot got right in this Netflix series, and we can't wait to see what happens next!

Jayce Nov 06, 2021

Show notes

We wanted to get some background info on The Defender of Tomorrow before Arcane drops, and we found ourselves entangled in a load of Viktor drama. Who is telling the truth here? Hopefully Arcane has some answers! Also Rebecca was very sick please give her a break.

Jax Oct 31, 2021

Show notes

This Grandmaster at Arms sure had a backstory, but all I remember is that it involved eggs. Jax is super into eggs, y'all, and so are we now. Pretty sure we said the word "Egg" more times than the word "Jax". So go ahead and hard boil some of those tasty chicken treats and get ready to learn all about Jax. Spoiler: He likes eggs a lot.

Jarvan IV Oct 25, 2021

Show notes

I never thought we'd hit anyone duller than Garen but oof. Here we are! The Exemplar of Demacia seems to have trouble deciding between serving his country or being a reckless dolt, and that didn't sit well with us. Most of his potential lies in the people around him, mostly because Jarvan's lore isn't really about Jarvan. But it did make us excited to learn more about Shyvana one day!

Janna Oct 18, 2021

Show notes

Never mind the fact we spend the first 10 minutes wheezing over Janna's old voice over (which also involved a lot of wheezing). The Storm's Fury ended up having little to do with storms, or fury, but she does throw some wind around sometimes, and she gave us even more devastating stories about Zaunite children. So that's cool?

Ivern Oct 11, 2021

Show notes

We all love the gentle Green Daddy. Sorry daddy. Sorry daddy. Sorry daddy. Sorry...erm. Ivern! While he's a jovial plant man now, he apparently started as a blood-thirsty war machine. Neat! According to Mark. Rebecca was less impressed. But we can agree that Ivern is a joy, and we need more of him.

Irelia Oct 04, 2021

Show notes

Riot's favorite blade dancer and nerf target could be the star of Ionia's delicate ballet. Instead, she's left tapping her feet on the sidelines. We tango with tongue-twisting tales, jitterbug with the Journal of Justice, and applaud John as he heads a chorus line of AUs. We can only hope Irelia puts on her tap shoes in the future.

Illaoi Sep 27, 2021

Show notes

This wonderfully underplayed Kraken Priestess is a total badass, or at least that's what we've gathered from the small amount we're given. Although the Bilgewater event was many years ago, we don't really have an update on what Illaoi is doing now. Teaching PE? Hunting down Senna's new perfume? Who knows!

Akshan Sep 20, 2021

Show notes

While it's frustrating that Riot Games threw this Rogue Sentinel Akshan at the end of an event they'd been planning for years, he's still a fun character we were excited to learn more about. Unfortunately, they didn't give him much of a story outside of their, uh, lackluster event. Which means it's mostly all resolved! Cool?? What now?

Heimerdinger Sep 13, 2021

Show notes

The Revered Inventor Heimerdinger is the perfect specimen of science, but Riot Games has left yet another yordle out to dry with this one. He has so little lore, we had our slightly-less-familiar-with-the-lore bestie guess where Heimerdinger came from and maybe what his goals are. She was...disappointed.
