Revisit: Annie/Graves/Kai'Sa Aug 08, 2022

Settle in for a long one fellow lore-friends, there's a lot to dig into here! Annie's release in Legends of Runeterra provides an opportunity to right past wrongs and go through impressions and her AUs. After that, we spend a hefty amount of time gushing over Graves and Twisted Fate's latest piece, while craving donuts and savoring John's British-Cajun fusion. Finally, Kai'Sa has gotten some much needed attention and development while simultaneously leaving us licking our chops over a potential void event. As a bonus, her addition to the Star Guardian roster has a big chunk of story alongside it, so get ready for peach boba and a fight against corruption!

It is quite appropriate that Nidalee's lore has her abandoned in the jungle, given how Riot has left her lore abandoned as well. Without a strong set of stories or a vibrant in-game character, Nidalee feels like she needs some major work to get her up to snuff. To make matters worse, any hopes of finding solace in the Journal of Justice have been drowned out by Riot's one-track mind when it comes to 'cougar'-related wordplay.

Act 2 of Arcane didn't disappoint, and we really can't get over how incredible Jinx is. Between the Vi/Caitlyn, Heimerdinger's sad eyes, and the lore's first sex scene, we had quite a bit to discuss. Although Diana, Scorn of the Moon has been out in the world for a very long time, her lore is still lacking in ways we found a bit disappointing. Between an interesting relationship with Leona (Riot pls make them gay we all know it's true), and an intense conflict with the people who raised her, Diana has a lot of room for interesting stories. Sadly, there just aren't any. Maybe one day! Until then, listen to us speculate on what they should do because obviously we know best.

We used our favorite word again with The Serpent's Embrace, Cassiopeia: Potential. Yet another champion that got left behind with the lore reworks. Although she has some important sibling ties and literally killed another champion, Cassiopeia still feels like a nonfactor in the grand scheme of things. At least y'all get to hear Rebecca watch an old Dominion cinematic in real time.

Unlike most champions, Azir's story is full of nonsensical decisions and massive plot holes, despite having a longer bio than most champions. There's not much in the Amumu lore, so naturally John went off on the one short story we had and basically just...told you the entire thing. You're welcome! Our favorite sad mummy was a prince or a yordle, was a sweet boy or a tyrannical young prince. No one really knows, but all of Amumu's legends end the same: A little mummy was left to wander Runterra alone and drown in his sorrows for the rest of time.
