They discussed Tom’s service to our nation in the U.S. Army which spanned nearly 21 years (1990-2011). Tom is in recovery from alcoholism as well he suffered a traumatic brain injury during his time in the service. This led him on the path to not only become an advocate for others suffering from addiction but soldiers and first responders also suffering from addiction and mental health issues.

His military career included time in the 82nd Airborne, as a Green Beret in the US Army’s 7th Special Forces Group, and, ultimately, in the US Army’s 1st Special Forces Operational Detachment Delta as an Operator. Ryan Phillips | From Canadian King of Pot to Sobriety, Humanitarian and Mental Health Advocate Apr 11, 2022
    Show notes

Jason and Mikey sat down with the Ryan Phillips on the Knockin' Doorz Down podcast. They discussed how Ryan's journey from a hockey stand out with dreams of becoming the next Wayne Gretzky becomes the King of the Pot trade from Canada to the USA. Now a humanitarian and advocate for mental health, well-being, and addiction recovery.

Ryan grew up with a great childhood and a close-knit family. All he focused on was becoming a successful hockey star which his parents fully supported. Ryan left home at the age of 16 to play professional hockey. This is when things began to change. During this time is when the party lifestyle entered his life.

At height of Ryan Phillips's fame and game prowess when he was arrested for importing a large amount of marijuana into the United States over the Canadian border. Phillips was incarcerated and detained and then, later, upon his release, prohibited from re-entering for life by Homeland Security.

In 2012 Ryan was granted access as a humanitarian back to the USA. He started to really focus on doing good in the world and his efforts were reciprocated, to say the least. He found happiness finally after twelve long years. It just so happened that he filmed a documentary called Return to Happiness that documents the adversities in life that he overcame with positive energy, and it was the love of his daughter that was a major inspiration for the film. Ryan does struggle with the effects due to concussions, but he doesn't let that stop him from being a positive light in the world.

This is Ryan Phillips in his own words on the Knockin' Doorz Down Podcast.

Matt Pink | Losing Son To Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, Sobriety & Author Of Better You, Better Me Apr 04, 2022
    Show notes

Jason and Mikey sat down with the Better Life Guy, Matt Pink on the Knockin' Doorz Down podcast. They discussed why Matt wrote the best-selling book "Better Me, Better You" which not only tells his story of addiction recovery but all works as an interactive guidebook for a better life.

Matt grew up with a great childhood and a close-knit family. However, he would drink and party with friends, but his friends continued to grow into adulthood and start their families. Matt would continue his ways of drinking and drugs. After the death of his son in 2013, his addiction began to consume his life. That's when he really hit the bottle hard, sniffing "Gear" along with anything else he could get his hands on.

After years of drinking, doing random drugs, and couch surfing all around London, Matt Pink had a spiritual awakening that would change his life forever which he shares. He knew what he was doing was wrong, however, one random man that appeared and went off in the night that he met outside the pub, woke Matt up and guided him in the right direction. Had it not been for Matt's friend being with him, he was sure nobody would believe him.

Matt has now been sober for over 3 years, is an accomplished author, meditates, works out daily, and is constantly making progress to achieve his goals. Married, with a family and as he revealed on the podcast he has a baby girl on the way.

Craig Siegel l Redesign, Reenergize, Reinvent, Purposeful Living & Cultivating Lasting Symphony Mar 14, 2022
    Show notes

Growing up Craig Siegel had a stable happy home life but lacked purpose and direction. He went to college but admittedly didn't learn much. He was focused on partying and having a good time, instead of his personal development. He studied finance and eventually made his way to Wall Street.

Craig worked on Wall Street in Manhattan for 11 years, and right before the pandemic happened in 2019, it started to take a toll on him. It was unpredictable, stressful and he didn't feel like he was happy in his life anymore. So he made a career change and started focusing on what made him happy. He reprogrammed his mind & his priorities. He learned to like new foods, new skills & new hobbies. He even runs marathons now & running is one of the new things in life that is very therapeutic for him. These charges are what led him to start podcasting, motivational speaking & more with his new company Cultivate Lasting Symphony. His goal with Cultivate Lasting Symphony is to enhance your professional career. Craig makes the point that revamping your mindset is essential. You need to identify your passion and then orchestrate a strategy. This is effective in recovery & addiction, as well as making your general life more focused and on track for success. Brett Lovett | Reconciliation after Trauma, addiction, divorce, Isolation & The Power of Mentoring Mar 07, 2022
    Show notes

Growing up, Brett had great parents. Nothing crazy or traumatic happened during his youth, but when his parents divorced when he was 20 years old, this was the event that led to his problems. His family dynamic changed, and he started making a lot of bad decisions and lifestyle choices because he didn't have that stability that reinforced that for him before.

He at first tried the traditional way of dealing with relationship trauma & admitting his faults to strangers. Brett realized he needed to find a path that would create a purposeful life.

So, Brett decided to rebuild his family connection & deal with his trauma in his own way. This led to him founding Family Reconcile. Family Reconcile challenges deeply entrenched destructive mindsets or ways of thinking that society tries to get us to accept as normal in our relationships. They challenge them by showing you a better way to re-connect with your relationships.

Family reconcile does not engage in or do therapy. They do not offer clinical advice or direction. Through their mentoring model, they use communication tools used by mediators and compiled research from positive psychology to bring about transformational thinking and facilitate positive transformational changes in oneself and their relationships. It's a 6-month program with a mentor that helps you along the way.

His goal with Family Reconcile is to explore the traumas of the past & why they are affecting you currently. And if there are any unresolved issues there, they try to connect to those memories and/or people and resolve those issues proactively.

This is Brett Lovett in his own words, on Knockin' Doorz Down.

Terrell Green | PTSD, Depression, Anxiety, Uncle Earl, Internet Comedy, Author Feb 28, 2022
    Show notes

Terrell Green had a tough upbringing. His mom suffered from addiction though, and he lost his father at an early age. He grew up listening to comedians like Richard Pryor, who was a major inspiration for him. He was also a top athlete coming out of Edison High School and went to Fresno City College. This is where it turned bad for him, unfortunately, as he saw his best friend get murdered in front of him.

After that incident, he was depressed and suicidal. He stopped playing sports. The guilt weighed on him, as he felt responsible for putting his friend in that situation. He really struggled for a long time, but he was finally able to break out of it. One day, he saw some comedy videos that inspired him to do the same thing, and he was able to find therapy in comedy. He would create characters of people he would see in his neighborhood, for better or worse, and show people what his life was like through this distorted comedic lens.

His comedy videos ended up going viral on Tik Tok, Youtube & social media sites and started getting the attention of some pretty big names. than legendary rapper and entertainment mogul Snoop Dogg, who reposted one of his videos to his millions of followers. He started getting feedback that he was helping other people going through the same problems as he was, and this inspired him to write in his journal.

Finally, he put his plan in motion to start writing his book, "Against All Odds: A Story About How I Became". After that major release, Terrell was able to reach a large number of people struggling with the same things he was, which in turn helped everyone help each other. The feedback on his book has been nothing but positive, and Terrell wants to keep that dialogue with his fans open & make sure anyone that needs help can get the support they need.

This is Terrell Green in his own words, on Knockin' Doorz Down.
