    Kitchen Table Theology

Where Coffee, Conversation, and Theology Meet. During my 40 years in ministry, I’ve developed an increasing burden for what I sense to be an increase in biblical illiteracy, not only among those in our churches, but also in the young men and women entering the ministry. Conversely, I am hopeful, because I also sense a hunger from people to learn and know biblical truth and the things of God has revealed to us in Scripture. Our Kitchen Table Theology team has developed a list of over 150 doctrinal topics which I, along with one of my cohosts, Jen Denton or Tiffany Coker, examine weekly. Our goal is to educate and share biblical truth on the same level as if we were sitting at your kitchen table with a Bible and a pot of southern pecan coffee in front of us. Welcome to the table!

124 Built on the Rock, Jesus Christ Oct 02, 2022
    Show notes

Jen Denton and Pastor Jeff Cranston discuss how salvation is based on Christ and the believer's service to Christ. Paul likens these to gold and silver and precious stones and says that there are two types of structures built on Christ- the first being built on gold silver or precious stones, which will endure and be rewarded, while the second is built on wood hay or stubble, which will suffer loss. Christians are secure in their salvation because they are building on Christ, which is the rock. Christ himself is the foundation on which the Christian stands, and on which they build their eternal life.

    • Quick fun chat about the Leaning Tower of Pisa

    • Salvation is based upon Christ the rock
    • Service to Christ is built on the foundation of Christ
    • Paul likens this to gold, silver, and precious stones, but says that another class of structure is built on the rock--wood hay and stubble
    • Christ is the foundation on which Christians stand, and on which they build their lives and eternity.

    [16:53 - 18:38] Closing Segment

    • Salvation occurs instantaneously at the moment of salvation when we are placed upon Christ as a solid rock

122 The "Much More" Love of God Sep 18, 2022
    Show notes

Do you believe God loves you? In today’s episode, Jen Denton and Pastor Jeff Cranston explore the idea that there is a difference between knowing that God loves someone and feeling God's love. It is through experiencing God's love that we become truly aware of how much he loves us. They also discuss how God loves those who are saved more than those who are not. Once a person is in Christ, they taste the love of God in a way they have never before experienced. Furthermore, once a person is saved, they are objects of God's grace, power, faithfulness, and peace. There is a progressive aspect to God's love for those who are saved because it continues to grow as we walk in his faithfulness.

    [00:01 - 07:01] Opening Segment

    [07:02 - 12:16] God's Love

    • Romans 5:8-10
    • If God loves the sinners, his attitude is so much more after their reconciliation
    • Positionally, we are in Christ and His love is unconditional
    • Experientially, once we are in Christ, we taste the love of God like never before
    • Once we are in Christ, we are objects of His grace

[12:17 - 23:55] Being an Object of His Power

    • God’s power is actively engaged in the support of every believer
    • Ephesians 1:19
    • Limitless comfort is provided to those who recognize and walk in the faithfulness of God
    • The story about Waldorf Astoria
    • John 14

    [23:11 - 25:38] Closing Segment

    • Final words

    Quotes:

“Do you believe God loves you? And I trust you can answer with a convincing and unqualified yes, because we have been recipients of the much more love of God.” - Jeff Cranston

“When we think about love in our humanness, we think about worldly love. God is not as the world gives because He is not of this world.” - Jen Denton
