Donald Trump has repeatedly disrupted the court proceedings in his second trial for defaming E. Jean Carroll. Judge Kaplan warned Trump to stop making noise and talking out loud during the trial and he threatened to have him removed from the courtroom. When he did, Trump responded "I would love it!"

Trump Lawyer Joey Tacopina Quits New York Case Jan 17, 2024

Attorney Joey Tacopina represented Donald Trump in the case brought against Trump by E. Jean Carroll. With Tacopina as his lead attorney, Trump went down in flames, with the jury ordering Trump to pay Ms. Carroll $5 million in damages. Now, with Trump's trial in his New York prosecution for for falsifying business records in connection with his hush money payments to Stormy Daniels to gain unfair advantage in the 2016 presidential elections, Tacopina has filed a motion to withdraw as Trump's attorney, in essence trying to quit the case.

Glenn discusses the most usual reasons defense attorneys try to quit cases, how there are different standards to withdraw from a civil case versus a criminal case, and how judges generally resolve such motions.

Trump Rips into Judge Engoron During Closing Argument in his Fraud Trial. Jan 15, 2024

After ruling that Donald Trump could not give part of the closing argument in his New York civil fraud trial, Judge Engoron changed course and decided to allow Trump to make a statement. And because no good deed goes unpunished, Trump violated the rules the judge had set for him regarding the statement, and Trump acted like a fool.

Glenn discusses what happened and why the judge changed course allowing him to make a statement at the end of the case.

Trump Continues to Aid and Comfort Convicted Jan 6th Insurrectionists Jan 12, 2024

No one can accuse Donald Trump of being a strategic thinker. In a new post, he asserts that he should be given immunity against prosecution for any and all crimes he committed to try to steal the 2020 election BECAUSE he was "looking for voter fraud." Glenn says Trump seems entirely unaware of the natural consequences of the position he's pushing. Then, Trump, and one of his minions, Elise Stefanik, have taken to calling the men and women who attacked the US Capitol, assaulted police officers, destroyed property, and hunted for elected officials, "hostages." Ignoring the fact that the vast majority of these individuals pleaded guilty, admitting, under oath in court, that they committed crimes on January 6th, Trump continues to call them hostages and promises to pardon them for their democracy-busting crimes. Glenn says - fortunately, Jack Smith is keeping book on Trump: his every statement is another piece of incriminating evidence that will be used to convict him at trial.

The appellate court judges that heard Donald Trump's arguments that he should have absolute immunity against being prosecuted for his democracy-busting crimes on and around January 6th, 2021, were not buying what Trump lawyer, John Sauer, was selling. Glenn attended the appellate court arguments on Trump's absolute presidential immunity claim. He reviews the arguments of counsel and the many questions from the judges. He also addresses Trump's demeanor and behaviors in court, and how he presents as the antithesis of a political candidate.

Trump Took $7.8 Million from Foreign Governments While President Jan 10, 2024

In another example of constitutional vandalism, a congressional report has been released documenting how Donald Trump took $7.8 million from foreign governments while in office - this in violation of the Constitution's emoluments clause. Yet, in a demonstration of mind-blowing hypocrisy, the Republicans in Congress continue to focus on Hunter Biden receiving money from foreign entities with NO EVIDENCE that his father, Joe Biden, received any money. By comparison, Donald Trump unconstitutionally raked in millions from foreign governments that went directly into Donald Trump's bank account, pockets and profits.

Jan 6 Anniversary Special: Supreme Court to Decide if Trump Can Be on Primary Ballot in Colorado Jan 09, 2024

In this special January 6th Anniversary podcast - Glenn discusses the Supreme Court which has announced that it will decide whether insurrectionist Donald Trump is disqualified from holding office again under section 3 of the 14th Amendment, or whether someone who has been found after a trial to have engaged in an insurrection against the United States can nevertheless serve as president again. The Supreme Court will hear oral arguments on February 8, 2024, in connection with the Colorado Supreme Court's ruling that Trump is disqualified from having his name on the Colorado primary ballot. Glenn will be in court in Washington DC today (Jan 9th) with Trump to watch the federal appeals court arguments over his immunity in the January 6th case.

Trump Signals He Knows Criminal Convictions are Coming Jan 08, 2024

Donald Trump is as transparent as child when it comes to what he tries to accomplish with his lies, his disinformation, and his propaganda. For example, when he posts lies like, "the prosecutors are not coming after me, they're coming after you," it's a rallying cry designed to dupe his followers into feeling like they have a personal stake in the Trump prosecutions. Of course, the reality is that it is Trump, not his supporters, who is facing 91 felony charges in four cases, both state and federal. In his recent post, Trump tipped his hand, making it clear that even he knows that he will be convicted at trial. Glenn explains how Trump is now softening the ground in hopes he can dupe his followers into believing that the coming convictions will not be legitimate.

Then, Glenn discusses Trump's criminal defense attorneys who seem to again be taking on the tone and tenor of their client in legal filings. Their latest motion is no exception. Trump's lawyers have asked Judge Tanya Chutkan to hold Jack Smith and his prosecutors in contempt for giving the defense discovery (evidence) and filing a motion while the case is on appeal. But they don't stop there. Their motion goes on to state that the prosecutors "unlawful goal . . . is the (a) desperate attempt to harass President Trump and prevent his likely victory in the 2024 Presidential election." Glenn says: sadly, these defense motions read more like a 2 am Trump posts than legitimate legal filings.
