Donald Trump's New York Hush Money Trial is Set for March 25th Feb 16, 2024

As it turns out - the first case in which Donald Trump was criminally indicted will be the first case to go to trial. Judge Juan Merchan reaffirmed that Trump's 2016 election interference/hush money/falsifying business records case will begin on March 25th. Judge Merchan issued a 30-page order denying all of Trump's various motions to dismiss the case. Glenn reviews and summarizes the judges denial of all Trump's motions to dismiss the case against him.

SCOTUS: Jack Smith has One Week to Respond to Trump's Request For Stay in DC Case Feb 15, 2024

Donald Trump's attorneys have filed a brief asking the Supreme Court to put his DC federal trial on a slow track to nowhere. Trump is seeking a stay (or pause) in his prosecution for trying to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election. But the Supreme Court seems to be stepping up the pace by asking Special Counsel Jack Smith to file his reply to Trump's request in only seven days. Glenn also discusses Trump's attempt to deceive the court by claiming in the filing that the judges decisions in the trial and appellate courts are a breach of precedent and historical norms.

Will the Supreme Court Grant Trump's Request to Pause his DC Trial? Feb 14, 2024

Donald Trump is asking the courts to make up something that does not exist in the law: absolute presidential immunity against being prosecuted for crimes committed while in office. Both the trial court judge and a three-judge appellate court panel ruled that there is no such thing as absolute presidential immunity. Trump has asked the United States Supreme Court to put a hold on his criminal case in DC rather than let it move in the direction of trial. Trump's suspected goal is to delay the case until after the 2024 presidential election in hopes of winning the White House and then ordering his Attorney General to dismiss the federal cases against him.

Glenn discusses why the Supreme Court should neither grant the stay/pause of Trump's DC trial for attempting to overturn the 2020 presidential election nor take the case of presidential immunity up on appeal.

Trump Advisor Peter Navarro is Headed to Prison Feb 13, 2024

Peter Navarro was one of many countless aides and associates that assisted Donald Trump in his efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election. Navarro even gave Trump's coup attempt a cute name: "The Green Bay Sweep." After being convicted of two counts of contempt of Congress for criminally defying a congressional subpoenas, Navarro is now being Green-Bay-swept right into the Federal Bureau of Prisons. Glenn says "Well, it's a start"

Supreme Court Appears Poised to Keep Trump on Presidential Ballot Feb 12, 2024

Sadly, during the Supreme Court arguments on whether Donald Trump is disqualified from holding office under the 14th Amendment for engaging in insurrection, the Supreme Court justices put details over democracy. Glenn reviews the arguments in Donald Trump v. Norma Anderson (the case in which the Colorado Supreme Court disqualified Trump from the Colorado state ballot) and discusses how the justices got bogged down in the details and seemed to lose sight of the big picture: that the plain language of the Constitution disqualifies Trump from holding office.

The Supreme Court Should REFUSE to Review the Case of Trump's Immunity Feb 09, 2024

The DC federal circuit court of appeals has unanimously ruled that Trump is not immune from prosecution for his January 6th crimes. In their opinion - the court pointed out the Constitution expressly states that presidents can be criminally prosecuted EVEN IF they're first impeached. The Constitution also imposes a duty upon presidents to "faithfully execute the laws" of our nation. In other words - the very language of the Constitution makes clear that presidents ARE NOT immune from prosecution for crimes they committed while in office.

Glenn discusses why the US Supreme Court has NO legitimate reason to accept Trump's immunity claim for review, which would have the effect of delaying Trump's trial, perhaps beyond the 2024 presidential election.

DC Appeals Court UNANIMOUSLY Rules Donald Trump CAN Be Prosecuted Feb 08, 2024

A federal court of appeals has ruled that a former president can be criminally prosecuted for crimes that were committed while in office. A three judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit has unanimously rejected Donald Trump's claims that he has absolute immunity from charges he plotted to overturn his 2020 election defeat. Glenn reviews some of the most important passages of the appellate court's opinion.

In a story line stranger then fiction, the US Supreme Court is set to decide if an insurrectionist can retake the reins of presidential power. On February 8th, the Supreme Court will hear oral arguments in the case of Donald Trump v. Norma Anderson. Who is Norma Anderson? In a Federal Court Filing - Special Counsel Jack Smith Calls Out Trump's Lies Feb 06, 2024

Although Donald Trump's March 4th federal trial for trying to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election has been postponed; Glenn says not to worry - Trump's criminal trial dance card remains packed. His New York criminal case for election interference in the 2016 presidential election by falsifying business records is set to begin on March 25th. Glenn does a deep dive into all of trump's upcoming cases and the likely sequence of his FOUR criminal trials.

The, he switches to Donald Trump's lies. Trump does it incessantly in the court of public opinion. But prosecutors don't normally respond in public to those lies, so when Trump lies about the evidence in his criminal cases - those lies tend to go unaddressed and uncorrected. But Special Counsel Jack Smith has now remedied that in a new court filing in Trump's federal prosecution in Florida. Glenn reviews some of what Jack Smith put in this new court filing in an attempt to, as the filing states, "set the record straight on the underlying facts that led to this prosecution."

Trump's CFO, Allen Weisselberg, to Plead Guilty to Perjury for Lying at Trump's NY Fraud Trial Feb 05, 2024

Donald Trump's longtime Chief Financial Officer, Allen Weisselberg - already a convicted felon for engaging in fraud at the Trump Organization - reportedly is in negotiations with Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg to plead guilty to perjury for lying when he testified at Trump's New York fraud trial.

This new legal development likely factors into two other legal developments: Judge Engoron delaying his verdict in Trump's New York fraud trial and Judge Tanya Chutkan postponing Trump's federal case in DC for trying to overturn the 2020 presidential elections. Glenn discusses the intersection of these three legal developments and what that intersection tells us about which of Trump's criminal cases is now most likely to go to trial first.
