Episode 174 - Hail Hail Rock N Roll Off The Charts Sep 08, 2020

Show notes

On this very special episode which has been something like a year in the making, good friend of the show and frequent guest Brendon Small returns to talk about two of his favorite music documentaries - CHUCK BERRY: HAIL! HAIL! ROCK N ROLL (1987) and another one called OFF THE CHARTS: THE SONG POEM STORY (2003). Both of these are fantastic documentaries and worth discovering. One gives a portrait of a Rock icon in Chuck Berry and the other shines a light on the song poem industry and the regular folks who send in their lyrics to have them made into songs (and the people that make those songs). If you like docs like AMERICAN MOVIE, HOME MOVIE and VERNON, FLORIDA - then you'll want to seek out OFF THE CHARTS as soon as possible!

HAIL! HAIL! ROCK N ROLL is on Blu-ray from Shout Factory and OFF THE CHARTS is sadly only on DVD (also from Shout).
