Red Bull Hardline Tasmania 2025 kickstarted the mountain bike season with a bang! Canadian talents Jackson Goldstone and Gracey Hemstreet dominated their categories in incredible style.

Goldstone redeemed himself after last year's season-ending crash by delivering a flawless run, achieving an unbeatable time.

Hemstreet followed up her remarkable top-to-bottom run from 2024 with another historic performance, making her the sole female contender in this year's finals. She has solidified her position as the Queen of Red Bull Hardline.

Red Bull Hardline Tasmania is an exclusive, invitation-only event for the world's most advanced male and female mountain bike downhill riders. When most 18-year-olds finish college, they start to think about university or starting a career. Not Ed Pratt. Aged 19, he set off from his front door on a unicycle – and three years later he’d circumnavigated the globe. Yes, you read that correctly: he rode around the entire world on one wheel.
Just like Joff Summerfield from earlier on this year, Ed’s sense of adventure and remarkable stories from the road made for a fascinating chat – and, of course, Rob’s mind was blown.

From the flatlands of BMX to star of stage and screen: the remarkable story of Matthias Dandois Oct 22, 2024

As a young kid growing up on the streets of Paris, Matthias Dandois would kick a football around with his mates. The problem was, he didn’t enjoy it much.
Then one day, he saw another group of kids riding BMX bikes and having far more fun than he was on the football pitch. And that was it. A love affair was born.
A few years later, he was BMX flatland world champion, at just 19. Now, he’s a nine-time world champion, Olympic torch bearer for the Games held in his home city, a superstar in so many fields and there’s little doubt that he has transcended his sport.
Matthias is a BMX rockstar, and it was our true pleasure to welcome him to Just Ride, learn all about BMX flatland, and his remarkable career – including a fascinating spell as the lead actor in a Hollywood film!
Sadly, Rob wasn’t around for this one and Eliot flew solo, but Matthias brought the energy. You’re gonna love it.

How do you win the gnarliest bikepacking races in the world? With ultra endurance legend Sofiane Sehili Aug 20, 2024

Sofiane Sehili wasn’t a cyclist until he went travelling around Southeast Asia and realised he wasn’t made to be cooped up on a bus or a train for hours at a time. He bought a second-hand bike for $100 and started riding. He’s hardly stopped since.
Initially a cycling courier in Paris, Sofiane was encouraged to start entering the world’s gnarliest bikepacking events, like the Tour Divide in the United States, and the Silk Road Mountain Race in Eastern Europe.
Now, aged 43, Sofiane is a three-time Silk Road winner and a legend for his unconventional approach to some of the world’s hardest bike races. Happy to forego sleep for days on end in his quest to win, Sofiane dropped into the Just Ride studio to tell Rob and Eliot all about his career to date.
Staggered by his dedication to the cause, Rob and Eliot were bowled over by Sofiane – and we’re sure you will be too. You don’t want to miss this chat.

Fighting for the top step: Finn Iles on his battle for consistency and the long road to the top step Jul 23, 2024

Aged 14, Finn Iles took the world of mountain biking by storm. He won the famous Whistler Whip-off after a social media campaign (#letfinnin) swept through the community. That was the start of a Hollywood-style journey that saw him destined to reach the top of mountain biking.
Winning almost everything before him in the junior ranks, his ascension to the top of downhill seemed assured. But not all Hollywood stories run smoothly.
It took Finn four years on the pro circuit to win his first Downhill World Cup, but boy did he do it in style, on home turf at Monte-Saint-Anne in Canada, matched by iconic commentary from Rob Warner and Eliot Jackson.
Ever since, Finn has demonstrated his consistency at the top level, coming within tenths of a second of that elusive next win.
He sat down with Eliot and Rob to reflect on his whirlwind career to date, his progression as a rider, the intricacies of a downhill season and what the future holds for the darling of Canadian mountain biking. As you can imagine, the guys had a lot of fun with Finn.

Rob and Eliot on the beauty of the bike, the accessibility of mountain biking and Eliot’s Grow Cycling Foundation Jul 09, 2024

We’re sure that most of our Just Ride listeners will know Eliot Jackson as the bike racer, the commentator – or both. But in typical Eliot fashion, he has another string to his bow that he doesn’t like to shout about.
Four years ago, Eliot formed Grow Cycling, a foundation based in his home city, Los Angeles, with the intention of bringing mountain biking into town.
Late last year Grow opened a pump track in the middle of Inglewood, LA, and it’s been an unprecedented success. We thought it was time Eliot told you all that story.
It’s also a chance for both Eliot and Rob to reminisce about their entry points into the sport – and a mid-series chinwag on everything that they’ve been up to lately, as well as some bold predictions for the year ahead.

How do you pull off a perfect season? Chasing perfection with Mani Lettenbichler Jun 25, 2024

Mani Lettenbichler is one of the greatest Hard Enduro riders of all time – and, remarkably, he’s only 26. In 2023 he completed a feat that sportspeople from all disciplines dream of: a perfect season, the first-ever in the FIM Hard Enduro World Championship.
Also a three-time Red Bull Erzbergrodeo winner, Mani is a phenomenon. Racing at the very top level since he turned pro – in fact, at just 16 he competed in and finished Erzbergrodeo – the German has done it all in his discipline.
Rob and Eliot are huge fans of Mani, having started their respective cycling journeys on motorbikes, and have been keen to welcome Mani to Just Ride since episode one. So, as you can imagine, this episode was a lot of fun!
Mani is also an incredible cyclist, so there’s a whole host of bike chat too. In fact, if he’d taken a different path in life, Mani could well have been a pro downhiller…

From riding mountains to running up them: Christian Meier’s journey from the Tour de France to the summit of mountain trail running Jun 11, 2024

In 2014, Christian Meier got the call from his road cycling team he’d always dreamed of: “You’re racing the Tour de France.” It was the culmination of the years of riding, sacrifices and dreams that so many young cyclists have, yet so few achieve. He’d made it to the summit of his sport.
Ten years later, having hung up his competitive wheels at the end of 2016 to pursue other interests, Christian stands at the top of another sport. Having stumbled upon his love for trail running during the Covid lockdown, the Canadian became good. Very, very good. So good that in 2023 he won the legendary TDS race around the foothills of Mont Blanc: 145km, with over 9,000m of elevation. He won the race in a staggering 19 hours.
Rob and Eliot couldn’t quite believe what they were hearing. This week’s chat with Christian is a fascinating exploration of what it takes to peak in two elite endurance sports, and how sporting journeys can be so changeable. Christian even started out as a downhiller!

Overcoming setbacks with Gee Atherton May 28, 2024

Gee Atherton is one of the most decorated, all-round downhill riders the sport of mountain biking has ever seen. He’s also one of the most committed, hardest bike riders that cycling has ever seen. Full stop.
His list of achievements goes on, and on, and on: two-time world champion, eight-time UCI World Cup winner, Red Bull Hardline winner, six-tie national champion… but his list of difficult moments and brutal crashes is also a long one. Sadly, it goes with the territory of pushing the boundaries.
Here on Just Ride, for the first time, Gee speaks in detail to Rob and Eliot about his awful crash while filming his Ridgeline series in North Wales in 2021. Gee was airlifted to hospital and had to fight for his life.
Yet he returned to the saddle, as he has done numerous times before. His love of the bike shines through and for more than an hour the guys recapped a magical career while discussing that fateful day shooting Ridgeline, his subsequent return and crash at Red Bull Rampage in 2023, and what’s next for one of the greatest of all time.
Filmed in front of a live studio audience in Salzburg, Austria, this is a fascinating chat with a mountain bike icon.

World record breaker? Riding around the globe with Lael Wilcox Apr 23, 2024

Lael Wilcox is an ultra-endurance legend. And yet, aged 20, she’d barely ridden a bike. It was only when she started a new job 6km from her home and realised cycling was the most efficient way of commuting that she turned to two wheels.
A love affair was born. And then she realised she was damn good at it.
Now 36, Lael’s won almost everything she could dream of: the 6,800km Trans Am Bike Race; holds the women’s course record for Tour Divide (4,418km); has the fastest known time for the Arizona Trail… the list goes on and on.
And now she wants to smash the women’s round the world record – and is setting off from Chicago on May 26 to do just that. She aims to complete her trip around the globe in just 110 days.
Lael spoke to Rob and Eliot about her spellbinding journey to this point – and how she plans to break an iconic record. We loved welcoming Lael to Just Ride and can’t wait to track her progress.

A year later he’d crafted some incredible jumps in his yard and turned his YouTube account into one of the most must-watch mountain bike channels on the platform.
Matt’s career has been fascinating. One of the world’s best slopestyle riders from a young age, the lure of content creation and the success of his YouTube channel took him down a path perpendicular to competing – yet the lure of competition is never far away for Matt.
He joined Rob and Eliot to reflect on his varied career, educate the listeners on the intricacies of slopestyle, open up on his future competitive ambitions and chat all things content creation. Like everything with Matt, this Just Ride chat is a lot of fun. Enjoy.

Riding around the world on a penny farthing?! Joff Summerfield on circumnavigating the globe on one wheel and being robbed at knifepoint Mar 19, 2024

When Joff Summerfield set out to ride around the globe on his handmade penny farthing in 2006, he sold absolutely everything he owned to fund the adventure – and start with a clean slate. As he set off, his whole world was packed into a small rucksack on his back and some panniers on top of his penny farthing.
Joff’s story is one of the most stunning that Rob and Eliot have discovered on Just Ride so far. Most of it must be heard to be believed! From being robbed at knifepoint in Ecuador and accidentally eating dinner in a Chinese home, to freewheeling down the Himalayas and taking in the Millennium New Year in Paris, Joff’s journeys have been like no other.
And that’s all while rolling round the world on a 49in fixed-gear penny farthing. His current steed has done nearly 40,000 miles. As you can imagine, Rob and Eliot couldn’t get their heads around it.
As well as his physical feats, Joff also has a refreshing outlook on life – never travelled but want to? Do it! You’ll find a way.

Winning the Road Racing worlds with a broken elbow & the growth of female cycling - Annemiek van Vleuten Mar 05, 2024

To say that Annemiek van Vleuten won it all is an understatement. The Dutch cyclist retired last season at the age of 41, having accomplished pretty much, well… everything in women's road cycling.
In the coming years much will be written and spoken about Annemiek’s achievements - and in truth it would make a remarkable Hollywood blockbuster.
Winning a world title with a broken elbow, overcoming illness and launching an outrageous solo attack to win the inaugural Tour de France Femmes, losing Olympic Gold due to a horror crash on a descent into Copacabana Beach in Rio… and that’s just for starters.
Annemiek is a resilient force of nature and it’s our pleasure to reveal she’s also a fan of Just Ride! A listener to the first series, she was waiting patiently by the phone for her invite onto series two.
Now embracing life in retirement, Rob and Eliot loved learning all about Annemiek’s life to date and her plans in the future.

Rachel Atherton: one of the all-time greats on what comes after competition, and becoming a mum Feb 20, 2024

Rachel Atherton is a certified mountain bike hall of famer and if Rob and Eliot listed out her entire list of achievements then we wouldn’t have time for anything else on this week’s Just Ride.
The queen of downhill, Rachel made headlines in 2023 for returning to the World Cup scene after overcoming a long-term achilles injury and becoming a mother for the first time. Not only did she compete in Lenzerheide but, in typical Rachel fashion, she won.

Geraint Thomas: Winning the Tour de France, keeping it real, and surviving at the top Feb 13, 2024

When Geraint Thomas first rode the Tour de France in 2007, he wasn’t even expected to make it past the first week. A track rider then, a year away from winning gold in Beijing, the Welshman gritted his teeth to survive the mountains of France and finish 140th.
Never in his wildest dreams did he expect to return 11 years later and win the famous yellow jersey.
Thomas’s career has been remarkable in both its longevity and scope, winning gold on the track at the 2008 and 2012 Olympics, conquering cobbled Classics on the road, before becoming one of the best Grand Tour riders of his generation. Now 37, he's still aiming for more success this season.
Here at Just Ride, we thought what better way to kick-start season two than by inviting our first Tour de France winner onto the show! Rob and Eliot absolutely loved chatting to ‘G’, picking his brains on the intricacies of Grand Tour tactics, internal team conflict, and how easy it is for Geraint to pop down the shops in his native Cardiff – plus much, much more.

Hosts Cédric and York explore how Emil is able to think rationally in key moments and provide a step-by-step plan to help us all train to become more courageous in daily life. The exercise involves frequently putting yourself in uncomfortable situations and challenging yourself to be rational in trying to understand where your fear is coming from and why you’re feeling it.
Regardless, when being your own coach, don’t be disheartened by failure because, as Emil says, you build your courage and self-belief through trial and error.

Emily Chappell: how do you go from cycle courier to ultra-endurance icon? The Transcontinental Race winner on physical and mental strength Oct 31, 2023

Emily Chappell had barely ridden a bike until she moved to London after university and became a cycle courier. Quickly discovering a love for cycling led her on a life-changing journey, which culminated in winning the fearsome Transcontinental Race.
The British cyclist and author has led a remarkable life and joined Rob and Eliot on Just Ride to talk about ultra-endurance racing, attempting to race on no sleep for three days, and finding slugs in your helmet after a night snoozing in a field.
The Transcontinental Race is the definitive self-supported bike race across Europe. Every rider is self-reliant for logistics and navigation, making it a true psychological test – let alone a physical one. The route is typically 4,000km and, in 2016, Emily completed it in an incredible 13 days.
She told Rob and Eliot all about that, as well as her life as a cycle courier in central London, and what her next challenges could be.

Tom Pidcock: the best all round cyclist in the world? The multi-discipline monster on racing road, cyclocross and MTB Oct 17, 2023

Tom Pidcock has won world titles on his mountain bike and cyclocross bike, and taken an iconic stage of the Tour de France atop the fearsome Alpe d’Huez. And he’s only 24.
The British superstar has the cycling world at his feet, so Rob and Eliot gave him a call ahead of his final mountain bike World Cup appearance of the season and welcomed him as the latest guest to Just Ride.
The INEOS Grenadier spends his winter racing cyclocross and then switches between MTB and road racing across the rest of his campaign, like almost nobody else in the world.
The guys discussed Tom’s Olympic ambitions for 2024, how he’s able to squeeze so much into a season, his iconic attacking descent that went viral in the Tour de France and – of course – Rob and Eliot tried to persuade him to take on an MTB Downhill World Cup one day. With Tom, you never know!

Dame Laura Kenny’s list of achievements goes on, and on… and on. The most decorated British female Olympian of all time, the 31-year-old is the undisputed queen of the velodrome.
So, who better to teach Rob and Eliot all about the ins and outs of track cycling than the woman with five Olympic Golds, countless world titles, and who just so happens to be married to Britain’s most decorated Olympian and fellow track star, Jason Kenny?
Anything Laura doesn’t know about riding on the track isn’t worth knowing… just don’t ask her how much air to put in your tyres!
Currently on her way back to competition after the birth of her and Jason’s second child, Monty, Laura exclusively revealed to Rob and Eliot that she plans to compete in her fourth Olympics in Paris next year, opened up on the quirks and challenges of fame and detailed the juggling act of parenting alongside her training commitments, plus much more.
A true sporting icon on and off the bike, it was a pleasure to welcome Laura to Just Ride and learn all about the wonderful world of track cycling.

The Ironman who can do it all? Cameron Wurf’s journey through elite sport, powered by cycling Sep 19, 2023

Meet Australian Cameron Wurf and you quickly wonder: is there anything he can’t do? An Olympic rower-turned-pro-bike rider, Cam is now one of the world’s best Ironman athletes – all while racing on the road for one of the leading men’s road teams, the INEOS Grenadiers.
He’s raced in the world’s biggest gravel event, Unbound, and is planning an assault on the tortuous multi-stage mountain bike race Cape Epic with INEOS team-mate Pauline Ferrand-Prévot. Now 40, he’s as determined as ever to keep competing and still firmly believes he can win the IRONMAN World Championship one day.
Rob and Eliot welcomed Cam to Just Ride the day after 2023’s IRONMAN World Champs, held in Nice, and got a full debrief on his swim, ride and run to 14th – before discovering just how many more strings there are to Cameron’s bow, while learning about the intricacies of triathlon along the way. One of the most idiosyncratic competitors in elite sport, the chat with Cam is one of the most fun episodes of Just Ride so far.

If you know mountain biking you’ll know Brett Tippie – and if you don’t know mountain biking, then you’re about to meet one of cycling’s true characters.
The phrase ‘larger than life’ doesn’t really do Brett justice. A mountain bike pioneer in the 1990s, Tippie was at the forefront of the freeride movement, introducing a new genre of mountain biking uninterested in race results, but pushing the limits of what was possible on a bike. Brett became one of the world’s first fully professional freeriders and has seen the sport grow beyond anyone’s wildest dreams.
Freeride is a mountain bike discipline encompassing almost every element of mountain biking you can imagine: speed, style, jumps, drops and so much more. And Brett was right there at the beginning.
An infectious character, Rob and Eliot have been determined to welcome Brett to Just Ride since the podcast’s inception – and of course, he didn’t disappoint. Chatting to the guys in Whistler, Canada, Tippie provided his typical energy, three wigs, a test on British Columbia animals and a glimpse into the deeper side of life.
Sober for 14 years, Brett spoke about addiction, happiness, and his current life working with his sponsors and in the media. He also told the guys some jokes. A lot of jokes.

Harriet and Robin are two of the current and future stars of freeride – and they also happen to be best friends. Harriet was on-track to become a BMX Olympian before deciding that her heart lay in freeride, while Robin went from a full-time career in the army to become the first woman to land a back-flip in competition in 2021.
Yet the duo don’t see themselves as trailblazers – they just see themselves as bike riders. Despite their modesty, Harriet and Robin are part of a wave of women freeriders bringing more and more awareness to female freeride and inspiring the next generation of female talent to come through and take the sport up at a younger age.
Freeride is a mountain bike discipline encompassing almost every element of mountain biking you can imagine: speed, style, jumps, drops and so much more. Robin and Haz are the sport’s biggest fans – and they just so happen to be two of the best in the world at tackling it, too.

Finally finding happiness after years of being the slopestyle champion with Brett Rheeder Aug 08, 2023

What happens when you realise the thing that has given you purpose and identity in life is no longer making you happy?
That was a question that slopestyle icon Brett Rheeder had to contend with in 2019, as he first started to wonder about retiring from competition.
Three years later he roared back to win Red Bull Rampage, an iconic freeride mountain biking competition held in the Utah desert, for the second time with a whole new mindset – and then finally stepped away from competing for good.
Brett is regarded as one of the greatest slopestyle riders in mountain biking, a discipline where riders fly through the air, spinning their bikes and bodies in multiple directions with the aim of accumulating the highest points for their trick combinations in each run.
Speaking to Rob and Eliot in Whistler at Crankworx – a multi-stop series of mountain bike festivals which brings together the best mountain bikers to compete in elite level competitions – Brett’s honesty and openness about the personal journey he’s been on over the past few years is fascinating… and lots of fun.

On the eve of the World Championships in Glasgow, Rob & Eliot are joined by UK rider Evie Richards – one of the most positive, inspirational, and infectious characters on the circuit.
Evie has always been ambitious. She dreamt of competing at the Olympics as a child, initially as a hockey player, but after discovering a love for cycling in 2013, she made a switch to racing bikes and achieved her dream by representing Team GB in Tokyo. She is one of Britain’s most promising cross-country and cyclo-cross stars as well as a World Champion after her 2021 victory at the UCI MTB XCO World Championships.
But it hasn’t always been easy. In this episode of Just Ride, Evie talks openly and honestly about the physical and mental struggles she went through while chasing her dream and how, after working with coaches and sports psychologists, she has found a work/life balance that means she can focus on what really matters.

Here Luke talks in detail about the different roles each rider takes up in a team, the tactics (and bad behaviour) to look out for in the peloton and the mind-games at play as riders hope to gain an advantage in one of the most physically and mentally challenging courses out there.
