Rethinking Ethics in Business with Ed Freeman Aug 03, 2020
    Show notes

Rethinking ethics in business is more than a set of rules or a list of 'how to.' It's a philosophy that refocuses the value you place in stakeholders instead of just the shareholders. In 1984, Dr. Edward Freeman originally detailed the Stakeholder Theory of organizational management and business ethics that addresses morals and values in managing an organization. Stakeholder Theory is a view of capitalism that stresses the interconnected relationships between a business and its customers, suppliers, employees, investors, communities and others who have a stake in the organization. The theory argues that a firm should create value for all stakeholders, not just shareholders.
In today's episode, we sit down with Dr. Freeman to dive deep into this philosophy of business, talk about his new book 'The Power of And' and the new documentary 'Fishing with Dynamite.'

Adventure is a Round Trip Sport with Sean Swarner Jun 19, 2020
    Show notes

Many of us dream of adventure but never take the risk to step out. Others live for the adventure but feel defeated once they reach the destination. Adventure is a round trip sport that many of us choose to never live. Sean Swarner beat cancer twice as a child but decided to not let the fear of living keep him from actually living. He has gone on to climb Everest, trek to both the North and South Pole, and accomplish the Explorers Grand Slam (Last Degree). But his motivation goes beyond simply accomplishing amazing things. He wants to be a spark of hope to all of those who have been touched by cancer.
In today's episode Sean shares his story of overcoming the odds (7,000,000,000 to 1) of surviving cancer, why he wants to bring hope to others, the stories of his adventures, and how you can stop living the safe life to live a life fully lived.

    About Sean
With only one functioning lung, a prognosis of fourteen days to live, and being in a medically-induced coma for a year, Sean Swarner is the first cancer survivor to stand on top of the world... Mt. Everest. Sean has broken through defined human limitations in order to redefine the way the world views success.
Sean was diagnosed with two deadly, different, and unrelated forms of cancer, once at the age of thirteen and again at the age of sixteen. After an incredibly poor prognosis, and being read his last rites, Sean astounded the medical community when he survived both these brutal diseases. He realized that after defeating cancer twice, no challenge would ever be too great, no peak too high.
Sean proved his theory when he crested the peak of Mt. Everest. As the first cancer survivor to do so, Sean decided to continue climbing and has since topped the highest peaks in Africa, Europe, South America, Australia, Antarctica, and North America, thus completing the “7-Summits”. Upon skiing to both the South and the North Poles, Sean completed the Explorer’s Grand Slam.
With the completion of the Ironman World Championship in Hawaii, Sean is the only person in history to accomplish these inhuman feats.
As Sean continues to defy the odds, test his own endurance and inspire and motivate people around the world, he shares his message of healing, hope, and triumph with cancer patients worldwide. Sean also serves as a source of inspiration as the founder of the non-profit organization, The CancerClimber Association, as author of the book “Keep Climbing,” and as a motivational speaker to corporations, universities, and other organizations around the globe.
