Hustle culture teaches us that if you want to achieve something, you have to put in the work.
At face value, there’s nothing wrong with this message. The trouble is that hustle culture prioritizes hard work above all else, disregarding physical and mental wellbeing. In short, hustling is a recipe for burnout and low self-esteem.
The opposite of hustle is flow, the state of joyful engagement in challenging creative work that leaves you feeling tired but proud rather than exhausted and resentful.
