Do you struggle to get through the day, but have a second wind at night? Do you rely on caffeine to get you going and to function during the day? Are you gaining weight around your midsection and can't seem to lose it? Are you irritable, anxious and workout leave you feeling wiped out instead of energized?
These could all be signs that your cortisol is out of balance.
Your cortisol should have a rhythm-rising in the morning upon waking and spike a few hours into your day. By night time it should be lower to get you relaxed and ready for sleep. As cortisol lowers, melatonin (our sleep hormone) starts to rise and sweet dreams await you.
Stress, work, kids, bills, and many other underlying causes can confuse your body into pushing out more cortisol at the wrong times. When this happens for a prolonged period, we eventually burn out from being in a constant, chronically stressed out state.
On today's episode, Cody wanted to do a deep dive into what is going on when our cortisol levels are consistently high, and how we can regulate cortisol to avoid eventual burn out. Cody often shares how important it is to reduce stress as much as possible in our lives and how giving our brain "safety signals" helps to reduce cortisol production.
Cody invites her guest, Elise Jones, a Yoga Therapist, who is trained to help people that have dealt with trauma, or have certain health conditions that have come on from excess stress to join her on todays episode. Elise and Cody share with us some of the most effective strategies we can start implementing to reverse and regulate cortisol dysregulation. It's a fun conversation, full of all kinds of TLC and cool tips on how to support your adrenals and healthy cortisol rhythms.

Supplement recommendations if you are needing a little extra support for your 'stress system':
Hertime - has ingredients that are natural ant-anxiety and ant-depressant agents, and ingredients that nourish the adrenal glands.
Herpower- has nutrients that help to support the release of stress reducing, "feel good hormones", and is also a natural, non-stimulant drink that supports your boy's own natural energy production.
Hernightly- has just the right amount of melatonin to help you get into a restful state before bed. It helps relieve that "wired, but tired" feeling. It also has chamomile and ashwagandha which are known to reduce anxiety and stress.
