Happy Halloween 2023!
Here's an extra special treat in your pillowcase: an It's Always Halloween/Farthouse Crossover Episode!
Farthouse is a monthly film podcast hosted by Cinephile Cuties (and Lanterns!), Casey O'Brien and Patrick Mallon. They watch arthouse movies, so you can pretend that you did. And today the three of us discuss The Shining, spooky bathrooms, and DIY Filmmaking!
We also read your EEEEKmails about artsy horror, film catchphrases, nude scenes in class, and bathroom ghosts and banshees!
Casey and I are making a feature film together, 14 Stories in a Bathoom! Read more and/or contribute to our fundraising campaign here!
Please note that this episode, much like The Shining, does contain adult language and situations and would probably be slapped with an R-rating if the MPAA had their say!
Happy October 31st, Lanterns! The veil is thin and the bonfires are lit, let the harvest celebration begin!
This is a collection of close to 20 All Hallows Hotline calls and EEEEKmails pertaining to our day of days. I hope this helps set the mood. Sending you all my wishes for a joyful day filled with spooks, treats, community, and remembrance. You are ALIVE, don't let 'em forget it!

Today we're sharing a preview from a podcast we love, Cautionary Tales. On Cautionary Tales, bestselling author Tim Harford finds the morals in moments from the greatest mistakes and tragic catastrophes of the past. This Halloween season, he’s exploring “Halloween sadism." Fantastical reports of trouble pop up every Calender Halloween, but is trick-or-treating really something to worry about? Or is there a deadlier danger awaiting children on Halloween night? Hear the full episode, and more from Cautionary Tales, at https://podcasts.pushkin.fm/cthalloween?sid=halloween. After the interview, Emma and Lucé dive into all the costume-related EEEEKmails.

This week we are celebrating Edgar Allen Poe's birthday with an oddly apropos story about the wealthy Prince Prospero who attempts to avoid a dangerous plague, known as the Red Death, by hiding in his castle with his obscenely rich friends. One night he hosts an ornate masquerade ball for his guests, but in the midst of their revelry, a mysterious and threatening figure appears.
The story was first published in the May 1842 issue of Graham's Magazine and has since been adapted in many different forms, including a 1964 film starring Vincent Price.
