Ep. 2205 Marco Alberti, Ambassador of Italy to Kazakhstan | On The Road With Stevie Kim Jan 04, 2025
    Show notes

Welcome to Episode 2205 of On The Road Edition with Stevie Kim. Today Stevie is in conversation with Marco Alberti, Ambassador of Italy to Kazakhstan.

    More about today’s show:

Kazakhstan is an important emerging market with growing demand for premium products such as Italian wine.

The Vinitaly Kazakhstan Roadshow, held at the exclusive Rixos Almaty Hotel on 18 November 2024, was Vinitaly's first international project in Central Asia. The program included walk-around tastings, in-depth masterclasses and informal networking opportunities, with a full range of Made in Italy products on offer.

The event coincided with the Vinitaly International Academy (VIA) Italian Wine Ambassador program. VIA is the Italian wine education gold standard, a study path which aims to train competent and professional figures to promote Italian wine all over the world.

Kazakhstan is the largest land-locked country in the world with a population of 20 million. Fifty per cent of the population is under 24 years old with a rising middle and upper class showing increasing interest in premium and imported products. These characteristics make Kazakhstan a very interesting market for Italian products and services in general and wine in particular.

As a part of the 4th generation of an Italian-American family among the California wine industry pioneers, Barbara has spent her life around wine growing, production, marketing, distribution and hospitality. A Syracuse University graduate, she returned to California to gain diverse industry perspectives from a range of wineries. As an Italian Wine Ambassador, she brings her expertise to the Italian wine market, known for its authenticity and consumer demand. Barbara now runs Apri La Creative Consulting, coaching wineries in Italy and the US to strategically develop their D2C channels in line with their brand values. Together with her husband, Barbara also owns and operates a boutique wine production company, and a small import company specializing in Italian wines to the US.
