Ep 565 Carlo Cignozzi | Monty Waldin May 10, 2021
    Show notes

Episode 565 Monty Waldin interviews Carlo Cignozzi of Il Paradiso di Frassina

Cignozzi created the Paradiso di Frassina, in the heart of the Brunello wine area in Montalcino, and wanted to experiment (for the first time in the world) using the beneficial effects of music on vines.

“Honestly, I would say that success was not lacking and a committee of the United Nations considered this research as one of the most sustainable projects in the world, calling it "phono organic" and including it in the "Bright Green Book" presented in Rio de Janeiro in June 2011.”

He was a Lawyer for almost 40 years in Milan, in 2011, he wrote a book published by Rizzoli "The Vine Whisperer”- L’uomo che sussurra alle Vigne, where Cignozzi tells the story of how he began this magnificent vine music therapy project, imitating the research done centuries ago in the Far East.

    Show notes

Episode 561 Rebecca Lawrence interviews Nadine "Wine" Brown on the series Voices.

Sommelier Nadine Brown was born and raised along the shores of Jamaica and Puerto Rico. She came to the states to pursue a degree in social work. After working with children for a number of years she later moved to D.C. She ended up taking a job as a hostess at a new French restaurant opening on Capitol Hill. She had no previous restaurant experience and had every intention to return to social work. However, she fell in love with the hospitality industry. She moved up from hostess to manager in a few short years. Nadine found the history of wine fascinating and took her first wine captain course to help her be a better manager.

Today, Nadine is a twenty-year veteran of the Washington, D.C. restaurant industry. She spent over 14 years at Charlie Palmer Steak as Wine Director and Sommelier. She is a two-time winner of the D.C. RAMMY’s Wine Program of the year for the region. Her palate won her the title of rising star from Star Chef in the summer of 2006. Nadine is a proud board member of the Restaurant Association of Metropolitan D.C. and the nonprofit the Verasion Project. Ep 560 Fabian Schwarz | Monty Waldin May 03, 2021
    Show notes

Episode 560: Monty Waldin catches up with Fabian Schwarz who speaks about Fattoria La Magia, Montalcino!

In 2011, Harald Schwarz handed the baton to his son Fabian, who had attended the Istituto Agrario San Michele all’Adige.

This professional training equipped Fabian to become the driving force at La Màgia, responsible for the agronomy and wine-making policy of the estate, as well as handling the entire commercial and marketing side of the business.

From their connections at the Istituto Agrario San Michele all’Adige, a professional network of teachers and former students, now producers, has developed, providing a mutual support system from which everyone benefits. This is especially helpful on production issues.

In this spirit of co-operation, a warm welcome and hospitality are always offered to student winemakers from all over the world, with the involvement of a number of universities and participation in a number of pan-European projects.

The wine harvest is the culmination and celebration of every new vintage, a time for sharing and enjoyment.

This exchange of experiences is a wonderful opportunity to explore new pathways that lead to continuous improvement for all concerned.
