    Show notes

Episode 718 Marc Millon interviews Stef Yim of Azienda Agricola Sciara in this episode of Italian Food & Wine with Marc Millon on the Italian Wine Podcast.

    About today’s guest:

Born in Hong Kong, Stef grew up in LA where he became a Sommelier at top restaurants. He quickly became fascinated with wines from volcanic soils, after wines from these soils kept beating Grand Cru Burgundy and others in his blind tastings.

The story unfolds from there but you will have to tune-in to find out!

    www.linkedin.com/in/artyomswan

    About today’s guest producer:

Silvia Altare grew up in a wine family made famous by her father Elio, who in the mid-1970s was one of the “Barolo Boys” who dared to make wine more like the French Burgundians. Elio and Lucia’s two children, Silvia and Elena, however, were never pressured to involve themselves with winemaking. In the early 1980s, that was a future reserved for boys.

Growing up, Silvia participated in the various aspects of winegrowing and winemaking with her family but often felt that she had to prove herself as a girl. Starting in 1994, when she was 15 years old, her parents sent her to live with a family in California for the summer. She attended the University of Economy in Turin and studied international business, graduating in 2003. Her travels and work harvests in California, Burgundy and Australia led her to join the family estate after her graduation.

Ep. 710 Diego Bosoni | On The Road Edition Nov 26, 2021
    Show notes

Welcome to episode 710 - On The Road Edition with Stevie Kim. Today Stevie is in Milan, sitting down with Diego Bosoni of Lunae Bosoni. Stevie Kim was able to talk to him during the incredibly unusual vertical tasting of Vermentino, and she got the chance to do this with a special wine called Numero Chiuso from Lunae Bosoni Winery!

    About today’s guest & Winery:

Diego Bosoni and his family have been making wine for five generations.

The Lunae Bosoni winery is located right on the edge of the Liguria region on the border with Tuscany, in the lush Lunigiana area. They carry on the long winemaking tradition of these places, based on the principles of ancient practices, the valorisation of local and forgotten vines, and respect for the cycles of nature. Among the rows of vines, located between the plains and the hills, and subdivided into small plots of 2-3 hectares, we find interesting and unobtainable varieties, such as Pollera Nera, Massaretta, Vermentino Nero and Albarola, alongside the undisputed star of the area, Vermentino. The Ca' Lunae, is the former winery building where the wines mature and the great bottles are stored,

His career started more than 10 years ago now, after spending some time tracing his family heritage all the way back to a small vineyard in Basilicata. Surrounded by Aglianico vines he spent three months living in a tiny village, absorbing the culture of the region, its people, its food and of course its wines.

On returning to England he set about studying everything he could and found himself with a job in a brand new wine shop with big dreams. He began importing small quantities of wines from small, boutique growers all over the South of Italy.

As his adventures continued he realised that his passions were shifting more towards communication - journalism and publishing. he was inspired to write and this overpowered his enthusiasm for building a retail business.

And so, after a period of study, endless travel and a lot of reflection on how to share his knowledge and experiences, Paul created Vinorandum.com.
