Ep. 748 Giuditta Politi | Wine, Food & Travel With Marc Millon Jan 10, 2022
    Show notes

Episode 748 Marc Millon interviews Giuditta Politi of Cantine Politi, in this episode of Italian Food & Wine with Marc Millon on the Italian Wine Podcast.

    About today’s winery:

1200 A.D.: the Politis appear for the first time among the majors of Loretello castle. It’s nothing more than a reference repeated over time and more and more associated with wine throughout the centuries.

By the end of the eighteenth century, about 60 hectolitres of wine were preserved in Politi cellars.

It was an important production for that time, although there is no evidence about the kind of wine. However, the archives testify to a constant presence of the family on the territory and their vocation to the art of wine.

More than eight centuries have gone by, since that first mention, Loretello and its fields have witnessed different dominions and squires, wars and conflicts.

Ep. 746 How To Pizza Tour Naples With Salvatore Salvo/Luciano Pignataro 1 Of 2 | On The Road With Stevie Kim Jan 07, 2022
    Show notes

Welcome to episode 746, another on the Road Edition With Stevie Kim, today she is talking with Luciano Pignataro & Salvatore Salvo, owner of Salvo Pizzeria, in Naples, Italy. Join Stevie as she desperately seeks the best Pizza around! This episode is in Italian but if you need an English version, you can always visit www.italianwinepodcast.com/blog and read the script in English!

    About today’s Pizzeria:

Tradition is the basis of the work of Francesco and Salvatore Salvo, from here we start and we always look at this, incessantly, but here we do not stop. For the Salvos, Neapolitan pizza is a culture to be safeguarded and developed and evolved, using all the tools, techniques and knowledge that the world of contemporary gastronomy can offer.

Consequently, the Neapolitan pizza Salvo is necessarily modern, adapted to the advancement of new discoveries in the kitchen, declined according to seasonality and raw materials, enhanced by combinations of refined and carefully studied ingredients, it is Neapolitan pizza today.

Salvatore Salvo and his brother Francesco have been passionately dedicating themselves to their work for years to carry on a tradition that has been handed down for three generations and to do so they started from the basics, studying and working on doughs and cooking, developing gastronomic and entrepreneurial ideas, looking ahead and looking around, not only in the world of pizza, but also in that of food and wine in general, arriving today to become the authoritative and modern voice of contemporary Neapolitan pizza, of the pizza of the future.

Ep. 740 How To Pizza Tour: Naples With Vincenzo & Salvatore Piccirillo | On The Road Edition Dec 31, 2021
    Show notes

Welcome to episode 740, another on the Road Edition With Stevie Kim, today she is talking with Vincenzo & Salvatore Piccirillo, owners of La Masardona, in Naples, Italy. Join Stevie as she desperately seeks the best Pizza around! This episode is in Italian but if you need an English version, you can always visit www.italianwinepodcast.com/blog and read the script in English!

    About today’s Pizzeria:

La Macardona is located in Case Nuove, a popular district not far from the station in Naples. The quality of the food has a home-cooked style. The Piccirillo family started their business after the Second World War. It is a female family tradition founded by Masardona. The fried dough is as soft as a cloud; it is tasty and fragrant and has been like this for four generations. The classic version is also served in a mini version. While the battilocchio made with marsala is flanked by a wide selection of creative fried pizzas, all topped with excellent quality ingredients and combined with balance. You will find table service in a well-organized, informal room. There is a small assorted drink list. This place offers a pleasant atmosphere that combines the wisdom of tradition with modernity.
