What are your pick of the funniest Celtic songs?

This week in the Celtic Music Magazine I share with you a few secrets I learned about how to visit Skellig Michael in Ireland. This island as a UNESCO World Heritage site. The island climbs 700 feet. It is known for the Gaelic monastery that was founded there in the 6th and 8th centuries. It was also featured in the Star Wars, The Last Jedi. So it's not easy to access. I share an article where you can learn more about how to access the island when you travel to Ireland. Subscribe here.

Joan emailed: "Hi Marc. I listen to the podcast at work. When I'm on a tight deadline working on my library's newsletter, the songs you play really help keep me focused - especially your Instrumental Music Study Aid episodes. Thanks for filling my ears and keeping my brain on target!"

Darius emailed: "Hello Marc, I came across your wonderful podcast recently & subscribed!

Regarding voting, although all your featured musicians are wonderful, when asked to vote for a specific episode's featured musician, perhaps asking to vote for that particular/featured song would be more appropriate? By that I mean, I have gone back & searched the bands featured but found 2 or 3 songs as my personal favourites. Absolutely no offence to the great bands but I wouldn't go as far as voting them as my favourite bands, rather songs :)

Also, what do you think about either as the final episode of the year or the first episode of the year, featuring the top rated songs of the year, voted by the listeners?

Anyway thank you again and I promise to become a paid subscriber once I have some income.

Currently in the process of starting a sustainable, holistic, self sufficient & off-grid Ecovillage in Canada. More on that if you are interested. Namaste"

Thanks for sharing all the independent artists that make this music!" Brian McReynolds emailed: "I have been listening to your podcast since late 2005. I love the variety of music and love listening to the podcasts. For Christmas I got some Bluetooth headphones and have been listening to the podcast while watching college football bowl games. It has been rather fun watching the action on the field with such great music on instead of listening to the commentary." John Helminski emailed: "Hi Marc, Thanks for your great podcast. Is there one specific show dedicated to Celtic harp music?" Catherine Koehler emailed a reply to my reply: "How providential that you responded tonight...the very night that i was writing YOU, lol. I was at the best pub in Louisiana this weekend, Enoch's Irish Pub and Grill of Monroe, LA, and made sure the podcast was well represented. I'm sending along a few pics of the podcast sticker that was ceremoniosly placed by Enoch's wonderful daughter Molly . In her words " we're placing it down low so everyone can see it!" Fyi...it is in front of everyone who stands in line for the rest room!! No billboard ever had a better placement!"

Bill Crews emailed on Facebook: "I've now listened to every one of your podcasts. Around September I started playing them, in reverse sequence, at work to drown out the din of the "open office" environment. Last week I finished the last of them. Now I'm ready for the encore season."

Dave Cooper emailed on Facebook: "Marc - wanted to say a big thank you for putting us (Flowers of Edinburgh) in the podcast a couple of weeks ago. We were thrilled to have made the cut."

Alexander Randall 5th emailed a photo: "Im sitting in my home on water island in the us virgin islands watching the Queen Mary 2 sailing into the sunset. I just found your podcast, im listening to #371 and loving it.

I love rollicking instrumental celtic music and you are spot on. This is great. I will begin exploring all the others. I already subscribed and in the morning ill figure out how to send money.

Here is a picture of what i am doing while listening.

Many years ago i was producing concerts, Boys of the Louch, Aly Bain.. In that era i was listening to Fairport Convention and Sandy Denny, dave Swarbrick.. a couple of years back i made trip to Cropredy for Fairport festival and treked to Shetlands for a dose of their music...

Celtic Stone is a favorite, especially " an old man came in and sat down." Fabulous piece.

Thank you for making this music available to people who are far removed from the isles and cant get it locally. Wonderful of you.
