For St. Patrick's Day my partner and I are doing our annual pub crawl, 4 Irish bars over the course of the afternoon with all the craic we can absorb

Music - wise, we went to a pub yesterday and listened to some traditional tunes, hopefully will hear more during the pub crawl Friday (sometimes the bars just have on NCAA games, sigh) as well as digging out a stack of CDs I haven't listened to in a while. There's some great music out there : - ) Happy High Holy Days to you,"

I can be streamed in realtime at www.wvud.org.

On The 17th I will probably drink a little Bushmills and watch The Banshees of Inisherin.

I listen to your show while in the car or doing stuff around the house. Thank You for the music you play for the world."

Ken B. emailed: "1. I am doing work around the house while listening. 2. For St. Patrick's Day I am watching my grandkids. Will celebrate with a Black & Tan after they are put to bed. 3. Ellen Mandeville replied: I often do housework or go for a walk while listening. I plan to cook potato leek soup and drink Guinness on St. Patrick's day. We'll be listening to Celtic music while enjoying our St. Paddy's day meal.

Jim Burns replied: "What are your doing for St Patrick's Day? Having friends over to celebrate, listen to music and have adult beverages". He says he'll be celebrating with "The 3 P's - Parades, parties and pubs."

Rodger Hara emailed: "Hey Marc, Karl Kumli and I are doing a 2.5 hour show on KGNU in Boulder on Friday morning. It's during our Spring fund drive, so we'll be doing a lot of pitching. Karl has his ready list and I've attached mine fyi.

I have a show on Wednesday night and will be playing an interview with Kyf Brewer with the Barleyjuice Band from Pennsylvania and playing a few new tunes from Daori Farrell, the High Kings, Doolin', Barleyjuice and Martin Hayes.

I hope that you have a great time and fun shows."

Eric Guarin (gwa - reen) emailed a question: "Hi Mark, over time the Podcast has included bands from literally all over playing a pretty wide variety of music. Some of it strays quite far from trad pub music - I'm not complaining, it's all great, but it does make me wonder: How do you decide what to play and if it is "Celtic" enough? Cheers,"

    TRAVEL WITH CELTIC INVASION VACATIONS

Every year, I take a small group of Celtic music fans on the relaxing adventure of a lifetime. We don't see everything. Instead, we stay in one area. We get to know the region through its culture, history, and legends. You can join us with an auditory and visual adventure through podcasts and videos.

In 2023, we're going on a Celtic Invasion of County Mayo in Ireland. Here are four things you can do to learn more about Grace O'Malley, the famous Pirate Queen:

    1. Grace O'Malley's Castle in Rockfleet: This 15th - century castle was once the stronghold of Grace O'Malley, also known as Gráinne Mhaol. Visitors can explore the ruins and imagine what life was like for the legendary pirate queen.
    2. Clare Island: This island off the coast of County Mayo was the base of operations for Grace O'Malley and her followers. Visitors can tour the island, visit the remains of O'Malley's castle, and learn about her life and legacy.
    3. The Westport House and Gardens: This historic house and estate was once the home of the Browne family, who were involved in the capture and imprisonment of Grace O'Malley. Today, visitors can tour the house, explore the grounds and gardens, and learn about its history and connections to O'Malley.
    4. The Museum of Country Life in Castlebar: This museum is dedicated to showcasing the history and culture of rural Ireland. It includes exhibits on the lives of the people of County Mayo, including Grace O'Malley and her connection to the area. Visitors can learn about the history and culture of the region, and the important role that Grace O'Malley played in it.

Mari Voipio commented on Facebook: "Let's just say that my utility/laundry room isn't ready for its closeup… But Celtic music makes all the sorting and folding and putting away a bit less boring."

John Sharkey White, II sent a message on Patreon: "The danger of using the WayBack Machine and listening to older podcasts, is that I'm discovering bands that for whatever reason didn't stand out the first time, but now I'm loving! Is Bad Haggis together anymore? Can't find much on the inter webs. Keep up the excellent work!"

Molly emailed a computer picture: "Hello Mark et al, really enjoying the Irish & Celtic Music podcast – thank you!

The website mentioned an interest in Sci Fi & that you sometimes write music for sci fi themes, so I am curious - have you ever written music relating to the TV Sci - Fi series Firefly (2002/2003)?

Your podcast asked for a picture of what we are working on while listening – well, here it is – the ever - exciting operations guide for our microwave reactor (non - nuclear). It's a gallop of a read! My company uses these reactors to manufacture materials that will hopefully reduce the environmental footprint of batteries and other items.

I would love sometime to join you all on the Celtic Invasion tour! It comes down to the usual – time and money. 😊

    Best regards,"

Rob emailed Greetings from the Snowy North: "Good day Celt Father,

I just to want to say thank you for the amazing musical offerings, it makes shoveling the winter snow a much more pleasant experience, and to ask for a favor. After replacing my phone some apps did not make the transfer successfully. Since than I have a song stuck in my head that I cannot track down and I swear that it was from an episode of the podcast. I did some digging and matched up the lyrics to "The Barroom Girls" by Gillian Welch but I can not find the version that played on the podcast. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you again for a wonderful podcast and thank you again for the motivational snow shoveling music."

Daphne Arthur of the Homespun Ceilidh Band sent holiday greetings last month: "I've been saving up all the Christmas - themed episodes of music podcasts until the actual start of Christmastide, so I'll have them to listen to during the twelve days, so on the first day of Christmas, I was listening to #586 while waiting for my after - Christmas - dinner tea to steep, and making sure Guillaume didn't accidentally burn his tail on my teeny tiny, improvised Advent wreath. Enjoying the music, as always! Merry Christmas to you and yours!"

Leti and Rodolfo emailed: "The best time to listen to Celtic music is ...during breakfast!

Hi Marc, This is Leti and Rodolfo from Madrid, Spain.

We always listen to your podcasts while we have our banana and oats pancake breakfast on weekends. It has become a kind of a ritual and we really enjoy the music and the food before going out for a walk in the country.

Keep up the good work. Thanks a million!"
