Ethan Sellers of Logical Fleadh emailed: "Hey Marc -

Just wanted to send a belated thank - you for the Mother's Day spin. Such a nice thing to highlight the women in Celtic music. The strong presence of women - especially instrumentalists - in traditional music is one of the things I really appreciate about the field. Cheers,"

Ann Peck McBride emailed: "I first heard the podcast about 13 years ago! And it's taken me all this time to become a Patreon member. Sorry, Marc!

I'm embarrassed to say I listen to your podcast while I'm doing housework. (It's a treat I give myself so that I'll actually do the housework) I am always surprised at the wonderful new Celtic artists you play.

I first listened to you because I needed to hear all the Celtic music I could. I listen now, partly for that reason, and partly because for the last few years, I have co - hosted a Celtic Music Hour program in Salem Oregon, on KMUZ. As my friend (and I think yours) Steve Behrens said, "We've fallen down the rabbit hole of Celtic music!" And here in the Pacific Northwest, we have a LOT of Celtic musicians... Thanks"

Debra Roche emailed a photo: "Hello, Mark, I recently played your St Patrick's Day 2023 podcast from SiriusXM and loved it!

Many years ago (1985 - 1991)I had opened The Celtic Cottage & Roche's of Ireland in Davenport, & Bettendorf, IA which brought me to do an Irish show at St Ambrose University for their college radio show.

How much fun that time in my life was! Whenever you give back to your community it is just the best when your family roots are connected! As my father's parents where from County Limerick Ireland. Glin & New Castle West.

Hope you're well and thank you for your music podcast!"

Melissa Helman emailed a photo of her dirty dishes: "So exciting, I know. Keep up the great work with the podcast."

Christopher Patrick of Salem, MA emailed a couple photos: "Hello Mark!

I can't tell you how happy I am to have discovered the 'Irish & Celtic Music Podcast!' But I'm gonna try, all the same!

You see, in my childhood, my 5 siblings and I would get loaded up into our family station wagon every Saturday morning by our mother. She would then proceed to drive us all into Boston for our weekly Irish Step Dancing lessons. Our rides both in and back were spent listening to Boston's AM's radio show, 'The Irish Hour,' and later, 'The Irish Hit Parade,' (still on the air to this day!)

So, those jigs and reels were ingrained in us in our step dancing, and the other traditional music was from our rides there and home. My mother soon landed us an agent, and we, the six kids, danced all around the Greater Boston area.

So, it is no real big surprise that these days, I play in an Irish Music Band with my family. Comprised of myself, my brother, two sisters, and brother - in - law, we perform under the name of 'FitzBlarney,' based in Salem, Massachusetts.

I've attached a coupla' photos for you, too - one of the six of us in our 1970s step - dancing attire, and one from this past St. Patrick's Day, where FitzBlarney played out at The Witches Brew pub in Salem.

The music you play means a lot to me, so, I recently became a patron. Just out of appreciation! Thanks again, and 'Sláinte!'

P.S. I would love to one day get on your podcast! That'd be so cool!"

What could be better than a celtic music hike with my beloved little dog, sunshine, blue skies, mountains, and wildlife...including bears?

Love the podcast. Keep up the great work! Many thanks,"

woodland folk emailed a couple photos and this sound of a fox: "This world is a gift my friend...."

    Shel O'Toole emailed: "Hi Marc,

I spent 5 months wandering around Ireland back in 1998.

I loved Glendalough in County Wicklow. It's so picturesque and there is some great walking in the area.

I also enjoyed walking around Tralee toward Dingle. I didn't get to Dingle but rambled across low hills through sheep filled paddocks.

I did get to Mayo and of course visited Matt Molloy's pub in Westport where I was mistaken for Dolores Keane. That was such a hoot and the look on the faces of the two men who were trying to determine if I was indeed "herself" when I said g'day in my broadest Aussie accent was priceless.

One of the guys I went to Irish World Music School with had a salmon farm near Westport. That was 25 years ago so who knows if he's still there. He was a flautist so if you're at a session you may run into him.

Malin Head was a gorgeous place to visit, especially Raised Beach where you can scoop up semi - precious stones that have been worn smooth by being tumbled in the waves for years.

The only place I visited in Ireland I did not fall in love with was Derry.

I look forward to your stories from your immersion in Mayo.

    Sláinte"

Greetings all, Lot's going on. I just booked the house that we will be staying at on next year's Celtic Invasion of the Isle of Man. The invasion is all booked up. However, there might be a second invasion added in August. So if you're not yet, subscribed at celticinvasion.com, make sure you go ahead and do that.

Francis Leach replied to the Celtic Music Magazine's feedback request: "Marc, Love your shows. Thanks. I Usually work around the house. I especially like to listen while doing yard work." For St Patrick's Day? "Hanging at two of our favorite Irish pubs, drinking Guinness and Jameson, and listening to some great Irish bands. We constantly have Celtic music on in our house and we are planning a trip to Ireland this summer. Our trip three years ago got squashed due to the pandemic."

Travis Senzaki replied: "Hi Marc, thank you for continuing to put out this podcast year after year! This St. Patrick's Day, the podcast is really my only connection to Celtic culture, so I'll be spending the evening listening with my kids. Over the years of listening, I have moved from the US to rural Japan, where there is no other access to my Irish roots. I have to travel to even find Guinness on tap. But thanks to you, my kids have picked up on Celtic music (or "Daddy's car music", as they call it) and even recognize it when some of the common themes find their way into movie or game music. I hope to continue sharing this music and culture with them as they grow older, and your podcast remains my best resource to do so. Thank you!

Thanks again for all you do! I'm looking forward to listening to the St. Patrick's Day episode(s) over a glass, even if I have to pour it from a can. Slainte!"

Steve & Jane emailed: "Mostly just listening..and enjoying the music and wishing I could play like that.

zachary gunter messaged me on Patreon: "Hey Marc, I was introduced to irish music through an album done by the 97th regimental string band. They focus on american civil war music. But on one of their albums, Irish chanty, if i remember right. I gained an appreciation for the irish/celtic genre.

Not sure if its possible, but if there was an episode based off of irish music focused on war songs sung in battle that would be an awesome episode.

Thank you for everything you do, ive been listening for years now off and on, and it never fails to make my day brighter."

My engineer Mitchell requests a picture of Maybelle listening to the podcast.

Dave L. replied on Mastodon about Kyle Carey's Kickstarter: "I got to see Kyle in a house concert years ago. What a talented artist with a beautiful voice. I may have to get me one of these cards."

David Van Horn replied to a picture and funny song request: "Marc: One of my most favorites funny songs from you is "Beer, Beer, Beer." I neglected to take a photo of the brisket. It was devoured quickly so no proof remains."

Andrew Kruspe of Black Market Haggis replied: "Marc, Hello! First, I hope y'all are doing well, and that you had a wonderful St. Patrick's Day season.

We did here, and we thought we would share some photos from a special event that we did at Lowe Mill in Huntsville. We had a "hands - on concert." We played a 45 minute set, and then we passed out about 35 bodhráns and taught the audience how to play a reel. They then joined us for a tune! You can find photos here:

Take care, thank you for your work, and have a wonderful week!"

Maureen R replied: "St. Patrick's Day is a family day, starting with donuts, then Mass at St. Colman, one of the oldest churches in Cleveland, that for decades had supported a largely Irish immigrant neighborhood. This Mass is the start of the day for the West Side Irish American Club. The dignitaries and club marching units from pipes and drums to tiny pom pom "Bridgies" march into the church with all the regalia of the annual St. Patrick's Day parade. Parts of Mass are read in Irish Gaelic, and familiar Irish songs and readings are shared. The lighting in the church is changed to green uplights and the hall is filled wall to wall with families in Irish sweaters and Irish pride.

After Mass and the marching units parade out of the church, everyone heads to downtown Cleveland for the annual St. Patrick's Day parade, one of the largest of its kind in the U.S. and one of the only St. Patrick's Day parades that is always held ON the day.

After the parade, families disperse to the many parties all around town. After marching in the parade, I will head off to entertain the crowds with my band, Ballinloch for the last performance of a two week non - stop Irish adventure."

betty collette replied: "A bonus St. Patrick's Day show would be fabulous! Usually I'm sewing while I listen to the podcast. For St. Patrick's Day we love to listen to Irish/Celtic music all day so if it's in a podcast, we'll add that for our listening pleasure. And we ALWAYS have corned beef dinner!"

Darin Wallace of the Stout Pounders wrote: "For St. Patrick's Day I am celebrating by playing music all day in pubs in Seattle, WA with my band Stout Pounders. We would love it if you featured one of our upbeat newer tracks from our Pour Decisions album. :) Enjoy the big day and happy birthday in advance!! "

Gordon Webb replied to the Celtic Music Magazine: "While listening I relax back in a recliner with my feet up. For your St. Patrics show, the more the better. Thanks for all of your years of shows."

Catherine Koehler replied the Celtic Music Magazine: "I know I only need to answer one of the questions but I'm an overachiever so I will do all three. What I always do while listening is something school related - I'm either grading papers or looking up or creating new assignments.

I used to be quite low on St. Pat's but I have finally realized that there are many ways to be happy on this day of Irish celebration. I live in a very "unusual" area that has no Irish culture at all. I am a Celtic performer who must travel quite a distance in order to perform at festivals and events but that is impossible during the week since I work a regular job. I used to be sad to see all of my friends on Facebook singing and playing all week long! I wanted so much to be with them and enjoying the festivities. Then I realized that I was blessed to spend that time with my family...making an authentic Irish meal (NOT cornbeef and cabbage) and listening to those same friends on a mountain of CD's. There are, of course, Irish libations involved. : - )

Now I look forward to the day as it was originally meant to be; a chance to share our faith and our heritage with others."

Raven Lunatic replied to my Celtic Music Magazine request: "I have been going back and listening to episodes of your podcast I missed! Walked in Baltimore St Padraig's Parade on Sunday. Will be starting the feast day with a Mass then full Irish breakfast!!"

Adam Young replied: "Hi Marc - -

I'm usually working while listening, doing graphic design work or something similar...or just sitting and concentrating on the music itself.

I've got two gigs on St. Patrick's Day, so I'll be out in the pubs (2 - 5 pm and 8 - 10 pm) in Sydney, NS, and joining a fellow artist (who you've featured recently), Mary Beth Carty, at her session in the morning.

That's also how I'm celebrating the culture through music this St. Patrick's Day! Our focus is more Scottish music, but we'll be throwing as much Irish into the mix as we possibly can...and staying away from green beer and pots of gold and leprechauns...

Best of luck on the show(s)! Thanks"

Roger replied: "Greetings Marc from Kendal UK its snowing. been making a Shepherds Pie for tea while listening to the last episode with the odd stop to practise my bodhran against a song... i need lots of practice...

keep up your good work. your podcast is essential listening especially if you have a ceiling to wall paper. best regards"
