Let me tell you about the Delay, Don’t Deny Social Network! Besides the freedom of IF, community is what I most want to offer the world. Instead of relying on the big social network most of us have been on for years, we now have a community that is completely separate and just for us.

Members of the DDD Social Network have access to all episodes of Intermittent Fasting Stories within the DDDSN platform, ad-free! That’s just one reason to join.

Visit dddsocialnetwork.com to see what else we offer in our membership community.

An annual membership is $59.95 and you have access to dozens of groups that we created with you in mind. You can join as many groups as you want and connect with members who share your interests.

I’m mentoring new IFers in the 28-Day FAST Start group, and you can also connect with me personally in the Ask Gin group.

If you aren’t ready to fully commit for a year, join for $9.99 a month and you can cancel at any time. If you know you’ll want to stay forever, we also have a lifetime membership option available.

IF is free. You don’t need to join our community to fast. But if you’re looking for support from a community of like-minded IFers, we are here for you at dddsocialnetwork.com.

Erin does telemedicine related to diabetic retinopathy, which is blood vessel damage caused by diabetes. She works for Indian Health Services.

At two years-old, Erin was diagnosed with a blood disease, known as ITP. She had to take steroids, which caused increased appetite and weight gain. Always snacking, she was known as the 'snacking chubby kid.' Erin eventually outgrew this, and would not struggle with her weight again until after pregnancy.

While pregnant with her son, Erin gained 75 pounds. Despite restricting calories and working out, she could not lose the weight. Concerned she may be insulin resistant, Erin did some research on how to reverse it. Intermittent fasting came up, along with Gin's Intermittent Fasting Stories podcast. She read Delay, Don't Deny and The Obesity Code, and learned about the clean fast. In June of 2019, she began with a 16:8 protocol. She currently follows a daily 18:6 (or more) IF protocol and has lost 25 pounds.

One of Erin's health benefits has been improvement in her dental health. Prior to IF, she had severe cavities. Her asthma is gone, her stretch marks have disappeared, her blood markers have normalized, and she is no longer controlled by food.

Langston is also an author of two books for children and hosts a podcast.

Langston uses IF to help keep himself "in check." While playing football: "we consume a lot of calories and expend a lot of calories." After football was over, he used intermittent fasting to get the weight off. IF has helped him with reducing inflammation, easing his joint pain due to football injuries, improved digestion, and better sleep. Langston got his weight below 290 pounds by following 16:8.

Langston's advice to new IFers: "Just try! See how long you can make it. Take incremental steps."

In this episode of Intermittent Fasting Stories, Gin talks to Anne-Lise Jasinski from Joplin, MO.

This episode is sponsored by…well, I’m sponsoring it myself. Besides the freedom of IF, community is what I most want to offer the world. Let me tell you about the Delay, Don’t Deny Social Network. Instead of relying on the big social network most of us have been on for years, let’s have a community that is completely separate and just for us. Visit dddsocialnetwork.com to learn about our new membership community. An annual membership is $59.95 and you have access to over 100 groups to match your interests. But if you’re looking for support from a community of like-minded IFers, we are here for you.

Anne-Lise calls herself an "Untherapist" and she helps people with self-improvement. She is also the author of The Untherapist, which is a book about her emotional journey of healing.

Anne-Lise was introduced to fasting as a child. She grew up in a religion where children were required to dry fast (no food or water) for 24 hours, once year. This was looked upon as a 'rite of passage,' and Anne-Lise did her first dry fast at age seven.

Leaving this religion in her twenties, she never fasted again.

In 2017, Anne-Lise officiated her son's wedding. Looking at pictures, she did not recognize herself. At 230 pounds, she realized it was time to do something about it. She found Dr. Jason Fung's The Obesity Code andfollowed a Keto diet with a 16:8 IF protocol. Anne-Lise eventually lost 65 pounds, but in dealing with some emotional issues in her life, gained back 55 pounds. This was discouraging!

In March of 2020, Anne-Lise joined a Keto Facebook group, and found Delay, Don't Deny from another member. She quickly read it and listened to the IF Stories Podcast. She began with a 19:5 protocol, but this time without restrictions. After a year of this, she feels healthy and vibrant and strong.

Anne-Lise's NSVs: "Food finally became permissible to enjoy, and I trust my body now." She has compassion with herself, and has healed her relationship with food, discovering the joy of eating. She is also healing the 'diet brain' she has struggled with her entire life.

Anne-Lise's advice to new IFers: "Focus on the feeling, not the results. Listen to your body's feedback."

    Tiffany Sayles Mar 04, 2021

In this episode of Intermittent Fasting Stories, Gin talks to Tiffany Sayles, who is a school counselor and college professor from Gasden, AL.

This episode is brought to you by Green Chef: The #1 Meal Kit for Eating Well. Go to GreenChef.com/90ifstories and use the code 90ifstories to get $90 off including free shipping!

Tiffany shares that she has been overweight her entire life. Her mother was constantly on a diet, and Tiffany never wanted to follow in her footsteps. Tiffany was always active, ate healthy, never dieted, and learned to love herself the way that she was.

However, in December of 2017, Tiffany found herself at what she calls “The Ledge.” About to turn forty, Tiffany experienced an emotional breakdown. She came to the realization that she would not survive if she continued on her current path. Tiffany decided to seek therapy to heal from some emotional issues. This in turn helped her to begin a new health journey. "You can't heal from what you conceal." Tiffany desired to heal from the inside out.

In December of 2019, Tiffany found Dr. Fung, and began living a LCHF (Low Carb High Fat) lifestyle. It worked at first, but was not sustainable for her. Tiffany then came across Gin's IF Stories Podcast, read Delay, Don't Deny, and joined the DDD Facebook group. She officially began IF in January of 2020.

Tiffany has gone from 324 pounds to 298 pounds, and from a size 22/24 to a size 16/18. She follows 19:5 and 20:4, having lunch and a small dinner.

Tiffany has many non-scale victories: "I am healing from the inside out. I never want to go back to The Ledge. I'm more active, have more energy, and I try new things. I have peace. I'm enjoying the IF journey."

Tiffany's advice to new IFers: "If you're struggling with closing your window, use an app. Or brush your teeth! Utilize resources and gain knowledge. Use other things to measure progress, not just the scale. Have a healthy mindset."

Lucy is a primary school cookery teacher and also a Delay, Don’t Deny group moderator.

Lucy shares: "I never really had a massive weight issue. I was only ever 10-15 pounds overweight." After trying to help her partner lose weight, Lucy realized that calorie reduction was not the answer.

In August of 2017, Lucy found Delay, Don't Deny through a friend, and joined the DDD Facebook group. Lucy had followed Michael Mosley's 5:2 protocol, (five days a week 'normal' eating days, the other two were fasting days of 500-600 calories) and decided to switch to OMAD, One Meal A Day. IF feels natural and easy to Lucy.

With IF, Lucy has experienced the best sleep of her life. Plus, no weight gain from menopause!

The advice she'd give to new IFers: "Eat real food and enjoy it. Relax into the IF lifestyle. You don't need supplements. Your body knows what to do."

Sunshine shares that her weight issues began around the age of 16, when she overheard her grandmother tell her mother that she needed to lose weight. Her mother was not a dieter and did not know how to help Sunshine. After years of following various diets and exercise regimens, Sunshine's weight reached 272 pounds. She had joint pain and was constantly tired. She gave up!

In December of 2018, Sunshine's husband was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes. His nurse gave him a copy of The Obesity Code. Sunshine read it and began IF on her own in January of 2019. Her husband joined her two months later, after watching her lose 50 pounds!

Her husband followed a 16:8 protocol, and in six months, he lost 60 pounds. His A1C went from 10.5 to 5! He no longer needed daily naps and was no longer considered to be diabetic. Sunshine's health has also improved greatly! She has incredible energy, and her joint pain is totally gone.

June and Sarah Canfield Jan 28, 2021
    Show notes

In this episode of Intermittent Fasting Stories, Gin talks to June and Sarah Canfield, a mother and daughter from Billings, MT.

This episode is brought to you by Ritual! You deserve to know what’s in your multivitamin. That’s why Ritual is offering my listeners 10% off during your first 3 months. Visit ritual.com/IFSTORIES to start your Ritual today.

June works for a software development firm, and Sarah is a seamstress. In the Summer of 2017, June found out about intermittent fasting on television. With her husband's high school reunion only months away, she decided to give it a try. She followed 16:8, and lost weight. But once she stopped following IF, she gained everything back. She followed it yet again the following Summer, then stopped, and yet again gained back all the weight.

In April of 2019, June decided to make IF a lifestyle. She found Delay, Don't Deny, and realized she had not been fasting clean. Switching to the clean fast, she followed 16:8, and finally found IF to be relatively easy! She has lost almost 25 pounds, going from the upper 140s to the mid 120s. She currently follows 18-19 hour fasts, including some 24 hour fasts, and she throws in the occasional longer fast. Her mood and mental clarity have both greatly improved, and she's also lost skin tags!

When June shared IF with Sarah, Sarah thought: "There's no way I could do that. I need my morning smoothie!" But after watching her mother lose weight with IF, and seeing all of the health benefits that came with it, Sarah was willing to give IF a try. She read Delay, Don't Deny, and began IF with 16:8, in December of 2019. She had suffered from severe eczema, and dermatologists had been unable to cure it. But with IF, she was able to pinpoint the cause. At this point, her eczema is almost completely gone! Sarah also feels like she is healing her gut. She has lost 10 pounds, and currently follows 20-22 hour daily fasts.

The advice June would give to new IFers: Take pictures and measurements. It's never too late to get healthy.

Sarah's advice: Start slow, and build that fasting muscle. Be consistent. It gets easier! Open your window with whole foods that are nutrient dense.
