    Tune in to my message from last Sunday about confronting the shadow within you. Sermon title: Facing Your Shadow? - Pastor, Stacy L. Spencer Date: 10.10.21 Scripture reading: 1 Corinthians 13:12-13 Last week, we discussed the importance of going beneath the surface to fix complex issues within ourselves in order to be emotionally healthy. Today, we are taking a deeper look at this duality of our being that sometimes causes us to be emotionally unhealthy Here are 5 things you can practice:

    1. One of the great truths of life is this: you cannot change what you are unaware of.

    2. Tame your feelings by naming your feelings.

    3. Break the power of the past 4. Identify the negative scripts handed down to you.

    5. Seek Feedback from trustworthy sources – therapists, spiritual directors, trusted colleagues, and mentors.

Pat explains when his life was filled in anger and darkness and how he found joy and strength after his encounter with the love of God.     Patrick Earl Houston aka Project Pat is a trailblazing rap artist from Memphis, T.N. and co-founder of the hip-hop group Three 6 Mafia. In this thought-provoking episode, Pat shares his story of how it was growing up in North Memphis and his experience of dealing in the streets during the 80s and 90s. He talks about what it means to be born again through Christ, and how that caused some conflict with his music and attitude at the prime of his rap career.     How do we reach our friends who are far from God? Special guest Dr. Alexis Gwen-Miller, Director of Alpha NDCC, walks us through how she engages people who have questions about spirituality. There is no correct way to learn more about God, and Dr. Gwen-Miller explains that the key to understanding your faith starts with asking questions. It doesn’t take a lot of biblical knowledge to be an evangelist. Has God ever looked out for you? As a family member, friend, and/or coworker, you can begin to share these experiences with the people you care about and watch where the conversations take you.
