    EP105 | The Producer: Richard Gladstein Oct 27, 2020
    Show notes

When was the first time you saw a Quentin Tarantino film? For some of us, it was in a theater. For others, a friend put it on the TV. For the younger audience, it might have been Netflix. But for our guest Richard Gladstein, the first time he saw a Quentin Tarantino film it was a script on his desk. In fact, he was one of the first to see Tarantino's work. Richard's experience in the industry ranges from handing out dog biscuits to producing some of Hollywood's biggest films: Reservoir Dogs, Finding Neverland, The Bourne Identity, and Pulp Fiction. Now, he is the Executive Director of the Feirstein Graduate School of Cinema. Both Host Mike Pecci and our AP Liam discuss with Richard his producing career, his experience working as one of Tarantino's closest collaborators, and some advice he has for young filmmakers: a topic very important to Richard whose current role is the Executive Director of the Feirstein Graduate School of Cinema. Our first Producer episode delivers every bit as much as you'd expect it to.Richard Gladstein's IMDB: https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0321621/Feirstein Graduate School of Cinema: http://www.brooklyn.cuny.edu/web/academics/schools/mediaarts/schools/feirstein.phpMike Pecci's IG:instagram.com/mikepecciILWP's IG:instagram.com/inlovewiththeprocesspodILWP Subreddit:www.reddit.com/r/inlovewiththeprocessYell at Spotify here to allow you to rate podcasts:community.spotify.com/t5/Ideas/ct-p/newideasEmail us to see 12KM: inlovewiththeprocess@gmail.comFeaturing Music by Code Elektro:www.codeelektro.com/Say hi to our friends over at Film Riot: https://www.filmriot.com/The Episode is Sponsored by:Puget Systems: puget.systems/go/inlovewiththeprocessPuget Systems Consultation: www.pugetsystems.com/landing/Puget-…_hsmi=86870814Quasar Science: www.quasarscience.com/Industry Jump IG: www.instagram.com/industryjump/Industry Jump: www.industryjump.com/Support our show by signing up for a 30 day free trial at www.audibletrial.com/InLoveWithTheProcessILWP Sponsor Page: www.inlovewiththeprocess.com/sponsors

    Show notes

It's another Liam Takeover Episode, and this time we're speaking directly to the listeners who are trying to crack into the industry. The young artists looking for that internship, that first job, that big chance. Here's the thing: a year ago, Liam was sitting in a classroom freaking out about where he would be interning in the Spring. He knew he wanted to be in LA or NYC, but he was in the middle of nowhere PA with zero contacts in either city. So he did something ridiculous: he applied for a position that didn't exist working for a guy who didn't know him. And Host Mike Pecci agreed to let Liam travel across the country to work for him for free. If you're wondering how the hell to not only get an incredible opportunity to network and learn from some of the most talented professionals in the industry, but to actually get the internship of your dreams, check out how Liam pulled it off.Mike Pecci's IG:instagram.com/mikepecciILWP's IG:instagram.com/inlovewiththeprocesspodILWP Subreddit:www.reddit.com/r/inlovewiththeprocessYell at Spotify here to allow you to rate podcasts:community.spotify.com/t5/Ideas/ct-p/newideasEmail us to see 12KM: inlovewiththeprocess@gmail.comFeaturing Music by Code Elektro:www.codeelektro.com/The Episode is Sponsored by:Puget Systems: www.puget.systems/go/inlovewiththeprocessPuget Systems Consultation: www.pugetsystems.com/landing/Puget-…86870814Quasar Science: www.quasarscience.com/Industry Jump IG: www.instagram.com/industryjump/Industry Jump: www.industryjump.com/Support our show by signing up for a 30 day free trial at www.audibletrial.com/InLoveWithTheProcessILWP Sponsor Page: www.inlovewiththeprocess.com/sponsors

    Show notes

Covid-19 brought the filmmaking industry to a screeching halt this year, but for so many of us, the show must go on. While a number of us are able or learning to work from home, at some point we have to get back on set and restart production. Our guest this week, Production Designer Eve McCarney, gives us an inside look at the reality of working during Covid-19. Eve and Host Mike Pecci discuss the protocols filmmakers are facing, remote workflows, and the role of a Production Designer during Covid. Eve also takes us through her exciting career designing historic western towns, sci-fi hospitals, and making the leap to Los Angeles.Eve McCarney's website:https://www.evemccarney.com/Mike Pecci's IG:instagram.com/mikepecciILWP's IG:instagram.com/inlovewiththeprocesspodILWP Subreddit:www.reddit.com/r/inlovewiththeprocessYell at Spotify here to allow you to rate podcasts:https://community.spotify.com/t5/Ideas/ct-p/newideasEmail us to see 12KM: inlovewiththeprocess@gmail.comFeaturing Music by Code Elektro:www.codeelektro.com/The Episode is Sponsored by:Puget Systems: puget.systems/go/inlovewiththeprocessPuget Systems Consultation: www.pugetsystems.com/landing/Puget-…_hsmi=86870814Quasar Science: www.quasarscience.com/Industry Jump IG: www.instagram.com/industryjump/Industry Jump: www.industryjump.com/Support our show by signing up for a 30 day free trial at www.audibletrial.com/InLoveWithTheProcessILWP Sponsor Page: www.inlovewiththeprocess.com/sponsors

If you've been locked inside your house for the past couple months, and come on... who hasn't been, you probably saw the trailer for Greyhound. The constant panic, the fear, the uncertainty: it can make you want to quit. This week, Host Mike Pecci and Greyhound's Director, Aaron Schneider, really dive into the difficulties of keeping your head down and eyes up when you feel like giving up. EP99 | Designing The UNREAL World of The Mandalorian (Guest Ian Milham) Sep 15, 2020
    Show notes

If you haven't seen The Mandalorian (*cough* Liam *cough*), you're missing out on more than just a cute puppet and Werner Herzog. Instead of green or blue screens, Season 1 utilized LED backgrounds called The Volume that allowed for a completely virtual world to be the backdrop of the show. For the first time, you could move a mountain or shoot during golden hour all day long. This is the future of production, and Season 2 looks to be even crazier. We needed to take a deep dive into this technology, which is why our guest for this episode is Ian Milham, the Virtual Production Supervisor for Seasons 1 & 2 of The Mandalorian. He's the one who can move the mountain in the background of a shot, and he's the one that spoke with Host Mike Pecci about the technology that is going to change our industry. Ian bridges the distance between video games and film production with his experience at LucasArts, being the Art Director for Dead Space, and now with ILM and Disney, so be prepared for a nerdy deep dive into video games, virtual production, and maybe get a look at what's to come with Season 2 of The Mandalorian.Check out Ian Milham's Website:http://ianmilham.com/Mike Pecci's IG:instagram.com/mikepecciILWP's IG:instagram.com/inlovewiththeprocesspodILWP Subreddit:www.reddit.com/r/inlovewiththeprocessThe Mandalorian Season 2 Premieres October 30th:https://www.esquire.com/entertainment/tv/a30360981/the-mandalorian-season-2/The Volume: https://youtu.be/gUnxzVOs3rkAn article about The Making of The Mandalorian: https://www.starwars.com/news/the-mandalorian-stagecraft-featureThe Making of Dead Space:https://youtu.be/xiLcKTThBY8WE GOT SHIRTS: Buy 'em here: shop.upstatemerch.com/ILWP/shop/homeEmail us to see 12KM: inlovewiththeprocess@gmail.comFeaturing Music by Code Elektro:www.codeelektro.com/The Episode is Sponsored by:Puget Systems: puget.systems/go/inlovewiththeprocessPuget Systems Consultation: www.pugetsystems.com/landing/Puget-…_hsmi=86870814Quasar Science: www.quasarscience.com/Industry Jump IG: www.instagram.com/industryjump/Industry Jump: www.industryjump.com/Support our show by signing up for a 30 day free trial at www.audibletrial.com/InLoveWithTheProcessILWP Sponsor Page: www.inlovewiththeprocess.com/sponsors

EP98 | Rock Rags and Record Stores (Guest Scott Crawford) Sep 08, 2020
    Show notes

"You don't want to listen to that shit." The smell of mildew; old cigarettes; sweat seeped into everything. You get back to your car with a record. Not the one you originally selected, but one from a band you've never heard of. A band the sketchy employee swears you need to hear before you die. Your heart's pumping. It feels dirty. It feels dangerous. Like you shouldn't be doing this. Like you'll get caught. That feeling's what this episode is all about. Host Mike Pecci and guest Scott Crawford grew up listening to the outcasts, the rebels, the ones in the pages of CREEM magazine. Thanks to Scott, the story of CREEM is being told so everyone can know the lives of the people who lived just as fast and dangerous as the bands they wrote about.Watch CREEM:https://www.creemmag.com/Watch Salad Days:http://saladdaysdc.com/Follow Scott on Twitter:https://twitter.com/saladdazed?lang=enMike Pecci's IG:instagram.com/mikepecciILWP's IG:instagram.com/inlovewiththeprocesspodILWP Subreddit:www.reddit.com/r/inlovewiththeprocessILWP Episodes mentioned in the episode:https://www.inlovewiththeprocess.com/musicians/ep45Spotify CEO says musicians aren't making enough music:https://www.npr.org/2020/08/10/901064434/comments-from-spotify-ceo-anger-some-musiciansWE GOT SHIRTS: Buy 'em here: shop.upstatemerch.com/ILWP/shop/homeEmail us to see 12KM: inlovewiththeprocess@gmail.comFeaturing Music by Code Elektro:http://www.codeelektro.com/The Episode is Sponsored by:Puget Systems: puget.systems/go/inlovewiththeprocessPuget Systems Consultation: www.pugetsystems.com/landing/Puget-…_hsmi=86870814Quasar Science: www.quasarscience.com/Industry Jump IG: www.instagram.com/industryjump/Industry Jump: www.industryjump.com/Support our show by signing up for a 30 day free trial at www.audibletrial.com/InLoveWithTheProcessILWP Sponsor Page: www.inlovewiththeprocess.com/sponsors
