    103. 6 Easy Ways to Create a Healthier Home and Healthier Family (Without the Overwhelm) Oct 19, 2026
    Show notes

    Hi Listeners!

We all want our families to be healthy—but knowing where to start can feel overwhelming! In this episode, Sara shares six simple, realistic ways to create a healthier home and healthier family without trying to change everything overnight. Drawing from her own family’s journey, she talks about starting with yourself, slowly purging foods and products that aren’t serving your family, finding healthier substitutes, enjoying treats without making them an everyday habit, eating more meals at home, and learning to control what you actually can. These aren’t about perfection—they’re about small, consistent choices that can create big changes over time.

But this conversation goes beyond food. Sara also shares why she believes our health journey can have a generational impact. Our kids are watching what we do, learning what becomes “normal” in our homes, and carrying those habits into their own families someday. And as Christian parents, we have an even greater responsibility—not only to teach our children how to care for their bodies, but to teach them to love God, love their neighbor, and care for their souls. If you’re ready to take some simple steps toward a healthier, happier home, this episode will give you practical encouragement without the overwhelm.

    102. The 4 Cardinal Virtues and Your Health: A Christian Approach to Self-Mastery Oct 12, 2026
    Show notes

    Hi Listeners!

What if your health journey could actually help you grow in virtue? In this episode, Sara explores the four cardinal virtues from the Catechism of the Catholic Church—temperance, fortitude, prudence, and justice—and how they can transform the way we approach food, exercise, rest, discipline, and caring for our bodies. Rather than pursuing health simply to look better or live longer, what if our goal was to honor God with the bodies He has given us so that we have the energy, strength, and freedom to love and serve others well?

You'll learn how temperance helps us practice moderation instead of constantly giving in to our desires, how fortitude gives us the courage to do hard things and stay consistent, how prudence helps us make wise and sustainable health choices, and how justice challenges us to give our bodies the care and attention they deserve. Most importantly, we'll talk about Christian self-mastery—not as controlling ourselves for the sake of control, but as becoming free enough to choose what is good. Because God's boundaries aren't a jail cell; they're guardrails that help keep us on the path to freedom. And ultimately, our health should never become an idol. It should point us back to the One who created us.s for you!

    101. Hormonal Weight Loss Resistance: Why You Feel Stuck (with Amanda Jeffres) Oct 05, 2026
    Show notes

    Hi Listeners!

Are you suddenly finding that the things that used to help you lose weight just aren’t working anymore? You’re eating “healthy,” exercising, trying to cut calories, and yet the scale won’t budge. And on top of the weight loss resistance, you may be dealing with low energy, poor moods, cravings, poor sleep, or feeling like your body has simply changed. In this episode, Amanda and I dive into the connection between hormones and weight loss, especially during perimenopause and menopause. We talk about insulin, cortisol, thyroid hormones, estrogen and progesterone, leptin, and ghrelin—and why simply eating less and exercising more may not address the bigger picture.

But this episode isn’t just about identifying the problem—it’s about what you can actually DO. We share five practical areas to focus on when you feel stuck: supporting healthy blood sugar and insulin levels, reducing chronic stress, supporting your liver and gut, building satisfying meals with protein, fiber, and healthy fats, and building muscle through strength training. We also talk about why more isn’t always better when it comes to fasting, exercise, and dieting—and how sometimes your body needs support rather than more restriction. If you’re a busy woman who wants more energy, a healthier metabolism, better moods, and to finally feel like yourself again, this episode is for you!

    100. My 5 Favorite Metabolic Hacks for Weight Loss and Better Energy Sep 28, 2026
    Show notes

    Hi Listeners!

We made it to Episode 100! 🎉 And to celebrate, I’m sharing my 5 favorite metabolic hacks—the things that have made the biggest difference for me and the women I’ve worked with over the past 8 years. We’re talking about simple, practical ways to support your metabolism, improve blood sugar balance, increase energy, and make weight loss easier without adding more stress to your already busy life. From using a fitness tracker and continuous glucose monitor to moving after meals, managing stress, eating fresh-milled sourdough, and changing when you eat your meals, these are strategies you can actually put into practice.

But here’s the biggest takeaway: you don’t need to do all five at once! Pick one or two and start there. Your metabolism is influenced by much more than calories and exercise—including blood sugar, sleep, stress, movement, and when you eat. I also share why my very favorite hack is completely FREE and how slowing down, creating margin, and giving your body a chance to rest has made such a difference in my own energy, sleep, mood, and waistline. Thank you for helping me reach 100 episodes! And don’t forget to leave a podcast review for your chance to win a $100 Amazon gift card!

    99. The Gut-Brain Axis: How Your Food Affects Mental Health, Anxiety, Depression & Dementia Sep 21, 2026
    Show notes

    Hi Listeners!

What if we started thinking about food as fuel not just for our bodies, but for our brains? In this episode, Erinn Schellen and I dive into the fascinating connection between nutrition and mental health and discuss how nutrient density, healthy fats, blood sugar, inflammation, gut health, and the gut-brain axis can all play a role in brain function and mood. We talk about neuroplasticity and why your brain is not simply “stuck” with the way it is today. We also explore the connection between ultra-processed foods and mental health, the importance of healthy fats, and why nourishing your brain is an important part of adopting a healthy lifestyle.

The good news is that supporting your mental and brain health doesn't have to be complicated or perfect. Erinn shares practical ways to increase nutrient-dense whole foods, including leafy greens, colorful fruits and vegetables, seafood, quality protein, nuts and seeds, and fiber-rich foods. We also talk about the importance of movement and quality sleep for building a more resilient brain. This episode is a reminder that we aren't just eating for how we feel today—we're nourishing the brain and body we want to have years from now.

    98. The Crunchy Moms Trap: How an Obsession With Health Can Create Anxiety and Nervous System Dysregulation Sep 14, 2026
    Show notes

    Hi Listeners!

What happens when your pursuit of healthy living starts stealing your peace? In this episode, we’re talking about the “crunchy mom” trap—when being intentional about food, supplements, clean products, exercise, and wellness slowly turns into health perfectionism, anxiety, and fear. There is absolutely nothing wrong with wanting to reduce processed foods, limit unnecessary chemicals, or make nourishing choices for yourself and your family. But when you’re afraid to eat at a restaurant, miss a supplement, deviate from your routine, or see a less-than-perfect blood sugar reading, it may be time to loosen your grip. We’ll talk about how social media can fuel unrealistic health standards and why criticizing others for their choices misses the bigger picture.

We’ll also dive into the connection between health obsession, chronic stress, and nervous system dysregulation, including why constantly feeling “on guard” can affect sleep, digestion, energy, cravings, and your overall sense of well-being. Most importantly, I’ll share three ways to pursue health without allowing it to control you: live with grace, trust in God’s provision, and learn balance. Your healthy habits should support your life—not become the thing that prevents you from enjoying it.

    97. Ultra-Processed Foods, Food Chemicals, & Fatigue: What’s Really Draining Your Energy and Causing Weight Gain? Sep 07, 2026
    Show notes

    Hi Listeners!

Have you ever wondered why you’re exhausted, constantly hungry, struggling with your weight, moody, or just don’t feel like yourself—even though you’re doing all the “right” things? In this episode, we’re talking about something that may be hiding in plain sight: the ingredients in the foods you eat every single day. I’m sharing my own journey from trusting that everything on the grocery-store shelf must be safe to questioning what I was actually putting into my body. We’ll talk about ultra-processed foods, added sugars and high-fructose corn syrup, hydrogenated fats, artificial sweeteners like sucralose, non-organic grains, nitrates/nitrites, preservatives, and fillers—and why I believe we need to start paying far more attention to ingredients than simply counting calories.

But this episode isn’t about perfection or eliminating every packaged food from your life. It’s about learning how to make better choices—one ingredient at a time. I’ll walk you through my simple food rules, how to read an ingredient label, why I encourage eating more God-made whole foods, and how to start making changes without becoming overwhelmed. I’ll also share the powerful lesson from Matthew 6:24 about serving God rather than mammon and why it made me ask a bigger question about our food system: Are we prioritizing our health—or the bottom line? If you’re ready to have more energy, feel better in your body, and get unstuck, this episode is a great place to start. And if you need help putting it all into practice, book a free call with Nourish Health Coaching using the link in the show notes.

    96. Why Probiotics May Not Be Working For You: The Truth About Fermented Foods and Gut Health Aug 31, 2026
    Show notes

    Hi Listeners!

Probiotics have become a go-to for gut health—but what if taking a probiotic isn’t always solving the problem? In this episode, Sara shares the experience that first opened her eyes to the incredible world of the microbiome and explains why simply adding more “good bacteria” may not be the answer. We’ll talk about your gut as a garden, the importance of microbial diversity, and how your microbiome can influence digestion, energy, mood, sleep, brain function, hormones, and even your ability to manage your weight.

You’ll also learn what can disrupt your microbiome—including antibiotics, birth control, PPIs, pesticides, processed foods, and certain food ingredients—and why Sara recommends a step-by-step approach rather than immediately reaching for a probiotic. We’ll cover ways to support your gut, the benefits of fermented foods like sauerkraut and yogurt, what to look for when choosing a probiotic, and why gut health and blood sugar are so closely connected. Plus, Sara shares more about the Fall Into a Healthy Routine 12-week program, beginning September 14, designed to help women reset their metabolism, establish healthy daily habits, and feel energetic and confident again.
