#252 Pt.2 - Read Connolly / Steel Guitar & Banjo Ripper Aug 17, 2023

Show notes

This week, we have a very special guest! I had the opportunity to sit down with the one and only Read Connolly. Read is a husband, dog dad, fashion icon, touring musician, and the best Steel Guitar and Banjo picker this side of town! Currently, Read plays for two of the biggest and best country artists out there in Charles Wesley Godwin and Zach Bryan. When Read is not touring with these powerhouses, he is residing in Pittsburgh, rooting for the Pirates and eating Mad Mex. This week, we talk about his introduction to music, playing in bands growing up, struggling with self confidence, his transition into Steel Guitar & Banjo, working for the NHL, and how his life changed when he met Charles Wesley Godwin and Zach Bryan. This episode is incredible. His story is so motivational that I was overwhelmed with emotion during our conversation. Sometimes, you just have to walk through that door when it opens and I can't say "thank you" to Read enough for taking some time between touring the country to sit down and tell us his story. I know you will enjoy it as much as I did. Thanks for listening.

#250- Clinton Clegg of The Commonheart Jul 27, 2023

Show notes

This week, I sit down with The Commonheart founder and frontman Clegg. Clinton has been a musician all his life. With a mother that is still actively playing the church pipe organ twice a week in her 80's, I think you can say music runs in his blood. Musicians are some of my favorite people to sit down with. It's not often that their story is a dull one. Clinton's story wasn't either. Starting out in metal bands and taking inspiration from a lot of hip hop, I was curious to hear how he managed to hone in on the gritty and redemptive style The Commonheart brings today. This week, Clinton stops by the studio to talk all about it. A perfect guest to have for a milestone moment in 250 episodes of @illcallyourightback. Thanks yinz for listening. Enjoy it! - On top of a great conversation, you have an opportunity to see this band of talented individuals this Friday at @stageae. As I would imagine, there is nothing like playing a hometown show so yinz know it will surely be an experience yinz don't want to miss. Get your tickets today. Hope to see yinz there.

These are actual situations happening in the city that have came through the police scanner. No embellishment needed in our great city. #248- Alex Brown / Chef de Cuisine @ Oakmont Country Club Jun 29, 2023

Show notes

This week, I sit down with golfer, dog dad, soon to be human dad, and Chef de Cuisine at the "Ultimate Examination of Championship Golf," the Oakmont Country Club. They say it takes 10,000 hours to master a craft and over his 15 year career, Alex has surely put in his. This week, we talk about everything from growing up on 'Yan Can Cook,' cutting his teeth in all the kitchens he worked in growing up, and how he became the Chef de Cuisine of one of the nicest country clubs in the nation in Oakmont Country Club. - I think out of all of the careers of guests I've interviewed, the food industry is what I love the most. Nothing more fascinating to me than learning the method behind all the madness and how a proper kitchen functions. Hit play and enjoy a great conversation with a real one. Thanks for listening.
