When you hear the words ‘donating your body to science’, maybe you picture a bunch of people in lab coats around a cadaver, studying a brain and how the human body works. Welcome to the Corporate Casket, a semiweekly series where bad businesses go to die. We will discuss any and everything from bad charities, terrible CEOs, and businesses that have a lot to hide.

In the early 2000s, something seemed abundantly clear in the United States; the country was falling behind the rest of the world in education. With the academics dropping and, coincidentally, the military enrollment, the government decided it was time to come up with a plan. So, the No Child Left Behind Act was brought into existence. At first, everyone seemed hopeful that the new plan in American education would make a difference—and it did. But, not the kind the United States was searching for.

Welcome to Multi Level Mondays, a weekly series all about multi level marketing, pyramid schemes, and ponzi schemes.

In 2020, MLMs made headlines by catapulting in popularity as people remained trapped in their homes, desperate for a little extra cash, and hopeful for a miracle cure-all that could save them from Covid-19. One of the most prominent MLMs out there was, BOO, a company claiming that their magic dirt could heal every disease or disorder known to mankind. But, while their customers and sellers pushed the product desperately on social media, others were paying attention to their rise, less than thrilled by their “cure-all” advertising.

Stop Romanticizing Serial Killers. | Dark Dives Oct 22, 2022

Show notes

For years now, we’ve seen individuals and documentaries romanticize serial killers. Wanting to get inside the head of these notorious figures is one thing, but wanting to be with them, being obsessed with them, and ‘standing’ them, is another. Not only is it greatly disrespectful to the victims of these monsters, but it’s dangerous, too.

Judge Judy has become a legendary figure on daytime television. She’s seen as the queen of common sense, but does she really deserve that title when, behind the scenes, Judy herself has been unusually cruel and hypocritical? Today we’ll discuss her rise to fame, her questionable values, and what happens behind the scenes of that tv set courtroom.

In 2007, CBS thought they were about to have a huge hit on their hands. How exactly? Well they were going to grab 40 kids and have them “fend for themselves” in a fake desert town in New Mexico. The truest recipe for disaster for sure! I hear tales of kids drinking bleach, being burned and only being paid $5,000 for the privilege of working 24/7 for 40 straight days. This here is the story of what would become CBS’s most controversial show from the early 2000’s and maybe ever. Time to dive in!
